  1. Oh FFS, how long do we have to suffer these inane ramblings?
  2. I don’t disagree with statistical analysis. But no matter how much you insist otherwise, rarity does not equate to irrelevancy. And that was on full display today. If you insist on believing that the special teams mistakes we saw today didn’t have a negative impact on our ability to win the game, what can I say? Given that we aren’t good enough to overcome them, I’d think placing more weight on their negative impact would be obvious. Anyway, it’s been interesting. I wish you luck in your further statistical analyses.
  3. Haha. When it comes to a ref and his vision, I don’t assume anything. I question whether they can see directly IN FRONT them, let alone on the periphery.
  4. I’m not going down this rabbit hole. As rare as they may be, special teams gaffes are relevant when they occur and are detrimental to a team’s performance during a given game. ESPECIALLY when that team may not be good enough to overcome the gaffes. While I agree the Bills and many other teams aren’t good enough to overcome them, that is a different discussion.
  5. On a macro level and to the lay people who care yes, teams are graded on entire seasons. Within team constructs however, every player is graded on every play in which he participates, in every game. Entire seasons are comprised of the sum of their parts: every play in every quarter in every half in every game after all, so it stands to reason why they are broken down on micro levels after each game by staffs on every team. And yes, better teams are better at overcoming those rare catastrophes when they occur. This stands to reason also.
  6. Exceptions never prove the rule. But sometimes exceptions are relevant to how a team fares in a game. And they were relevant today and detrimental to our performance. Next week the exceptions wont mean a damned thing, hopefully.
  7. He was down before the ball came loose.
  8. All rare plays are irrelevant until they step up and bite you in the ass. Like today.
  9. Very Rodgers like.
  10. Regarding Pilut, what do you propose Botterill do when all of McCabe, Scandella, and Nelson return from IR? Pilut is the only one of the group that can be sent down without having to clear waivers. Tough choices coming up since Pilut certainly belongs.
  11. The D line, in no way, shape, or form won their battle in the trenches today. This is obvious when you can’t generate one sack or hit on the opposing QB. That said, the point about having good CBs in today’s pass happy league is well taken. But that said, it took a couple perfect passes and an extended coverage play while Darnold scrambled and bought extra time (no CB can cover a receiver for eight seconds) to beat them. I don’t think our CBs lost us the game so much as Darnold made a few very good plays to win it. It’s ok to tip your hat to the opponent when it’s warranted.
  12. I doubt anyone saw that hit in real time when everyone’s attention, including the refs, was drawn towards the extended return of the blocked kick well upfield of the play.
  13. All due respect, this take is short sighted. In his eight starts, Allen has demonstrated more heart, desire, and love for the game than Jeff George did in his entire career. And George NEVER came close to possessing the kind of infectious fire that Allen inspires in his teammates. The ONLY similarity they share, as you point out, is a cannon arm. But Allen has a better head for the game as a rookie than George ever did.
  14. Five pages in and not one tip of the hat to a couple good plays made by the opponent when they needed a play to be made? Ridiculous. And very short sighted.
  15. Fant. Rhymes with can’t. Remember Reuben Gant? No thanks.
  16. I don’t want Pilit sent down, either. But the Sabres May have no choice as the eventual return of Scandella, McCabe, and Nelson means he either gets sent down because he’s not subject to waivers or one of those other three gets waived to make room. And I can’t see JBots doing that, especially McCabe. My hope is that he plays so well they are forced to waive one of Nelson or Scandella.
  17. I love the Bears at home on the national stage. Just have a feeling Mack and Co. are gonna go off. Love the Rams and their O, but this will be a tough environment for a team that has no way to prepare to play in those elements.
  18. The lengths some players go through to avoid getting trucked by Josh Allen.
  19. Yep. Lies, damned lies, and statistics as the old saying goes.
  20. You give my post far too much respect with your well thought out response. I was being totally sarcastic about how he left his job here. Although, as he did here, it would be hilarious to see him quit the Jags thinking the Jets naming him HC is a fait accompli only to see it not happen again. It’s ironic that a major reason he’d be offered the Jags job is because of those WNY ties in the first place.
  21. Oh, I don’t know. I just can’t see Marrone choosing to simply quit and walk away for another coaching job.
  22. All WTF moments require an accompanying mental lapse in judgement to qualify for WTF status. A routine poor throw and incomplete pass simply doesn’t qualify.
  23. A sliver of the story? His game tape tells the ENTIRE story. Over and over and over and over again. There is no “misunderstanding” that. Doesn't matter if he was “pressing” (a nicer way of saying “choked”, btw) or if he got along with folks in the building or not. He was a terrible player while here. Period.
  24. Wow, what a game! Two teams giving no quarter. Very proud of the effort put in by this group of players tonight. Rob Ray said this was their 11th game in 19 days. Talk about a grind. Ray also mentioned that teams can’t really have any decent practices with that kind of schedule, too. They’ve played the best teams in the league in that span and have stood toe to toe But here’s the thing: the Tampa Bays, Nashvilles, and Torontos of the league have a lot less room between where they are now and their ceilings, while this team is still putting the pieces together. Rest up, heal up, get away from hockey for a day or two and then come back and start a new streak.
