  1. totally agree. these Rex fetish jokes have had one foot in the grave for some time, and now i'd go so far as to say they're six feet under.
  2. Holy hell, yes, I approve of the hire and I'm darn excited. First legit coach we've brought in since I started watching the Bills (1985). I truly believe he'll get this team to the playoffs in the next two years.
  3. No. We are right where we should be at .500. What games did we get "damn lucky" in? I guess Detroit with the missed field goals. Other than that? Minnesota? We played an ugly game, overcame 4 turnovers and made it happen in the 4th quarter. The rest were solid wins. The only other game that really felt like luck played a major role was the KC game, where a couple of fluke fumbles cost us a game we controlled. Also, we were never really blown out all year. That's not the sign of a 4 win team.
  4. Go get Scott Frost from Oregon as your OC. Let him install that up-tempo run-first offense. It would be a perfect fit for Buffalo winters and EJ Manuel.
  5. Can't really fault Marrone here. If you miss it, the Broncos are guaranteed 3 points and the game is over with 6 minutes to play. By punting it away, we actually still had some sort of puncher's chance at the end. It's a tough call and easy to second guess, but in this situation you can argue that it actually worked out about as well as you could have hoped.
  6. the announcers noted that Carpenter was 2 of 4 on onside kicks for his career. i didn't have a problem with it. i assume they've been practicing with Gay and they felt comfortable with his abilities.
  7. We have the kind of defense that feasts on crap qbs. Great front four can shut down the run and make a team one dimensional. Unfortunately, our linebackers and secondary are very average in coverage, so they can easily be exploited by an elite qb. The crap QBs we've faced are either too inexperienced or just plain suck too much to get the o-line in the right protections and get rid of the ball to beat the rush. This won't be the case with Manning, Rodgers and Brady (as we've already seen). Given our anemic offense, I expect 10-20 point losses in each of these three games.
  8. That's my point. I'd consider 2-2 (9-7) a miracle. And that will not be good enough to get us into the playoffs. I'm saying there is no chance we finish 3-1. None.
  9. No. Every game is precious to every team still in the playoff hunt this time of year. Denver only has a one game lead in their division. They have a ton of veterans, an experienced head coach and a 15+ year hall of fame QB. You better believe that they will be laser focused on destroying us come Sunday.
  10. Lol. It will take a minor miracle to finish 9-7. No way in hell we are winning 3 out of 4 with this offense. Still, I'll enjoy it while it lasts.
  11. Lol. Yeah, let's just hire a wife-beater like Cable as head coach in this current NFL environment. I'm sure that will go over well.
  12. Yes and No. Yes, we aren't terrible, but, no, we aren't good either. Our results are pretty typical of a mediocre/average NFL team. Records of opponents we've beaten 2-8, 4-6, 4-6, 6-4 and 7-3. Records of opponents we've lost to: 5-5, 6-4, 8-2, 7-3 and 6-4. We have one win against a truly terrible team that we should always beat (Jets) and one loss against a world-beater type that almost all teams would lose (Pats). The rest of the games fall into the winnable/competitive kind of category and we've split them. Pretty average team. Pretty average results.
  13. We are 12/32 teams in turnover percentage and are +5 in turnover differential on the season. We could be better, but I wouldn't necessarily call that "sloppy with the ball."
  14. i said Tuel because stupid questions deserve stupid answers
  15. Go conservative on offense, protect the ball and let this defense win this game for you. Do that the next two weeks and we are 7-4.
  16. I think we could lose, but in now way do I think Miami is 5.5 points better than us (even on their turf). I'd say the Bills are a slightly better team overall. Miami is getting a ton of cred for beating NE, Chicago and San Diego when all of those teams were reeling.
  17. Dolphins are hurting, our key guys are actually on the mend (Watkins and FJ) and now we have the benefit of having established a couple of additional key weapons in Brown and Dixon. If we come out and smack down the Dolphins on Thursday, I like our chances of getting to 8-4 before the tough homestretch. Probably delusional, but I still think we could beat NE the last week of the season. I just hope we can get to 10-5 or 9-6 to make that one a meaningful game.
  18. Agree. That was the momentum changer. McKelvin's fumble was the breaking of the dam. We still scored and had momentum after Brown's fumble. It looked as if we would still close out the game until that 4th and 1 play. And let's not forget the 3rd and 16 that preceded it. Schwartz sat back in 3 man rush and that completion allowed the Chiefs the option of gambling on 4th and 1. Bring the heat with 4 or 5 guys on 3rd and the best you're probably looking at is a 7-8 yard dump off and a Chiefs punt. That really pissed me off watching that sequence in real time.
  19. Yes. When faced with a more talented or superior coached team, his coaches aren't devising game plans that maximize his effectiveness. (See, Jim Kelly/Marv Levy vs. Giants/Redskins/Cowboys)
  20. Sort of agree with you other than the fact that the eyeball test is telling me we aren't a playoff team. Guess we'll find out during the next three weeks. If we can get through November at 3-1, we'll give ourselves a puncher's chance in December.
  21. They are both great QBs. I tend to favor Brady as well, but he's had the benefit of playing for one of the all-time greatest coaches for the entirety of his career. I think that plays a huge part in the performances you see from these guys in the biggest games and against the best teams. Mora, Dungy, Caldwell and Fox are all average coaches in my opinion. They aren't close to being in Belichick's league.
  22. As a fellow "victim" of the law school scam, the issue is that these schools were almost uniformly inflating their employment statistics to lure in their prey. And it's not just bottom tier diploma mills. I attended a top-20 law school and the employment placement statistics made it seem like it was a slam dunk that I'd land a $140k gig so long as I put in a decent amount of effort, and that I was virtually guaranteed of something in the $80-100k range just by graduating. Turns out these schools are very creative in how they report their employment numbers and do things like set up students with temporary school paid gigs to pad their numbers, only to leave you with no legitimate legal employment opportunities. Maybe the top 20% of my class did well and landed the high-paying biglaw jobs, the next 20% found some type of mid-law or government job, and the remaining 60% were left to scramble for sh*tlaw or non-jd positions. Still, I blame myself for going to law school when the only thing that interested me about it was the potential salary. I was shortsighted and I paid the price.
  23. Should be a close game. They have a good defensive front and sort of a middling offense. Should be similar to the Lions game. I like our chances at home.
  24. The funny thing is that the Vikes did just about everything right on that drive. Just some great individual plays/one-on-one victories by our guys.
  25. McKelvin is a pretty good corner at this point. People hate him because he was a 1st round db drafted by Jauron (who always seemed to prioritize the position over other areas of need), the NE fumble, and his struggles locating the ball during his first couple of seasons in the league. He's always done a good job (for the most part) of staying with his man and now that he's learned how to play the ball a bit he's an above-average cover guy.
