Don’t miss running down the clock in the first half!
TheBrownBear replied to Jammer8732's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That sequence right there is why you keep swinging for the fences at the QB position until you find your "franchise"/elite guy instead of settling for the Tyrod Taylors and Andy Daltons of the QB world. -
I did a double take when he chased Heineken oob on that "sack." He looked legitimately quick chasing him down and I was shocked when I realized it was Star.

Outside of Citrus State Prison? Not that I know of.
-
Unfortunately, he's never had his act together. That's like saying Sammy Watkins could be a first team all pro if he was a hard worker and always stayed healthy. Or Aldon Smith could be the next LT if he wasn't violently insane and an alcoholic. I have zero faith in Josh Gordon making any real impact for the Chiefs this season. And I wouldn't be surprised if he never sees the field again.
-
This move would have worried me 3-4 years ago, but now? I'm curious to see what he looks like if he ever actually makes it on to the field (which I heavily doubt ever happens).

Nice to see another high character guy signing with the Chiefs.

Rookie Josh Allen vs Rookie Zach Wilson
TheBrownBear replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall
He throws 4 or 5 terrible passes, but for the most part those all occurred after they were getting killed and he had taken a beating. He actually looks fairly decent given what he has to work with. He definitely has a chance if they can keep him alive and his psyche intact while they build that roster. Also, how bad of a signing was Corey Davis? -
Rookie Josh Allen vs Rookie Zach Wilson
TheBrownBear replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall
I almost feel bad for the kid. He's gonna get permanently shellshocked and end up on the David Carr career trajectory if they don't let him sit and digest some stuff while they build up that roster a bit. He has no chance right now. -
Bills 17.5 pt favorites vs the Texans
TheBrownBear replied to Process's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I like the Texans at that number! Yikes. A 20-3 Bills win makes you a winner. Who are the Jets playing next week? -
i try not to dream of my wife requesting to drink the fluids of another man.

Way too early to make any determination. He could be the next Brady or the next Trent Edwards. Time will tell. I won't be worried until he starts regularly whooping our ass.

Josh Allen - Cupping Therapy on Neck
TheBrownBear replied to Back2Buff's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Surprised so many here have never heard of cupping therapy. It's been rather popular for at least a decade or more. -
Warren Moon on Josh Allen
TheBrownBear replied to Chief Loves Bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Man, Moon was sooooo good much of the time, but I still can't get over how he completely folded in the second half of that Wildcard game. -
Jim Kelly (and others) had them too
TheBrownBear replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree with the OP. We act like Josh Allen should look like last year's San Francisco game every week. Go look at Aaron Rodgers last 8 games of 2019. He had 1 game with a passer rating over 100 and not a single 300 yard passing game (in fact, 3 sub-200 yard games) during that stretch. He's had similar stretches through his career and most of the other GOAT QBs have as well. The only guys who probably avoided extended stretches of bad play during their primes were Peyton, Brady and (for now) Mahomes. Josh will figure it out and get back on track. He's too naturally gifted, smart and hardworking not to, imo. -
Haack is kicking really slow [Moderator Edited🤦♂️]
TheBrownBear replied to Gisele's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Is that stat kept somewhere? Just curious how Haack compares to other punters, because I can't lie, he looks slow as molasses getting the ball off. -
As far as I'm concerned, if you can definitively end the game with 1 yard, you take those odds (with some caveats, like if they had been in easy FG range to stretch the lead from 1 to 4 or something). So much of that decision came down to them having only a 1 point lead. If it's a 3 point lead, he almost certainly punts, since you're highly unlikely to lose the game in regulation.
-
Of course, it's situational. I assumed you were talking about the same scenario - 1 point lead, facing a Mahomes-led team that has already scored 35 points on your defense (and would have scored more if not for the CEH fumble the moment before). McDermott is absolutely going for it on 4th in that situation. Now, if it's 3-0 Buffalo, and Mahomes has played the worst game in his life and our defense hasn't let him get past midfield, then maybe he punts? But in that scenario, Mahomes isn't "Mahomes", at least not on that day.
-
He knew his defense wasn't stopping Mahomes in that situation. It's an easy call when you're looking across the field at one of the 5 GOAT QBs. And I believe McDermott makes the same call there.

How many has Bass made in a row as of now? I think it's highly unlikely, since McDermott trusts him to attempt some really long kicks, and he kicks in the Buffalo winds. Still, he's an amazing kicker, so there's a chance. Not sure Allen breaks that record, but I do expect him to have a couple of 450ish yard games this year.

Does anyone else sort of avoid this place after a loss?
TheBrownBear replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes, somewhat. Because I really, really, really hate the kneejerk threads that appear after the loss. I'm okay with kneejerk reactions in the live game or dedicated post game thread, but the posters who create their own separate thread for their hot takes drive me insane.
