Cole Anthony (Greg's son) with a Carolina record of 34 points in his first game! Wow, this kid is going to be fun to watch (for one season).

Oh, come on, Hap, sure you do. It's only natural for fans to take a look at QBs drafted in similar spots and make comparisons. It is starting to look like Trubisky might be a bust. He has surpassed that "magic number" of 24-25 starts many experts believe are necessary before you know whether or not a QB is "the guy" (he's made 33). He's playing more this year like he did as a rookie than as he played in his 2nd year. Is it a blip? If I'm the Bears I ride him through the rest of this season, and then I've got to make a tough decision about whether he's my guy going forward.

Is there some sort of competition going on here? Odd post. -

Forget about religion. Schlereth hit the nail on the head. When the players believe that the coach truly cares about them, you have a true leader. Religion or "faith" is just a vehicle. And yes, I believe McD is such a coach.- 114 replies

I see a guy who is 9-5 in his last 14 starts and hasn't thrown an interception in three games. I also see a guy who is 3-0 on the road this season and has led multiple 4th quarter comebacks. I see an ultra competitive player who wants to win above anything else (like, for example, whether he throws for 300 yards or not). What do you see?

Continuing the trend of first time Champs?

Kirk Cousins is not going to win a SB. I'm willing to go to the bank on that. -
Great quote from Charlie Weis this morning as I was heading in to work and listening to the SiriusXM NFL channel...a Cowboys fan was moaning and groaning about how bad they looked and got lucky to beat the Giants. Weis asked him (rhetorically) "what's the most important thing on Sunday (or Monday) night? A win -- and that's all that matters because by noon the next day the entire team and coaching staff are on to the next game." Nobody in the Bills' organization is worried about how good or how bad they looked on Sunday. They are only focused on getting better and preparing for the next foe.

I don't care about SOS, I'm talking about the quality of the team. -

Yup, why not? Of course, the more likely scenario is 10-6 and a wild card, but playing around with that playoff machine they even have a good shot at 9-7 -- not that we want to see that. A playoff appearance this season, with Allen progressing nicely and boatloads of draft picks and cash, should make most fans happy. 2020 is the year to claim dominance. -

This, completely. The Pats*** have a brutal run coming up and if they lose just one or two our game at Foxboro in W16 would be for the division if Buffalo can get there with only one more loss. Can the Bills go 5-1 @CLE, DEN, @MIA, @DAL, BAL, @PIT? That puts them at 11-3 and playing their biggest game in two decades. -
"Jauron ball" runs those plays from 1st and goal at the 2 in the first quarter? You guys crack me up. No, McD is not some crazily aggressive coach but he's also not playing "not to lose." People keep forgetting that this offense is brand new and it takes time to develop an identity.

I don't know anyone who thinks the Bills are going to blow the Browns out. That's just not how this team is built or operates. They are doing just enough and winning ugly, and still figuring out what their identity is. Cleveland may have more "paper" talent on their roster but the difference in organization and structure is night and day, which is why Buffalo should have a good chance to win what will likely be a relatively close game.
-
The big difference between Cleveland and Philly in "desperation mode" is, well, just about everything. Cleveland has literally nothing to draw upon to convince themselves they are anything but what they are -- a 2-6 football team that has "a lot of talent." That said, there is talent on that roster -- I hope the Bills are able to start quickly and plant the seeds of doubt in their minds early.

When the calendar turns over to November I typically start looking at the upcoming schedule for teams the Bills are playing or competing with for a playoff spot. Here are some interesting tidbits (at least to me): -- next week Cleveland begins a 3-game homestand; the Thursday after playing the Bills they host the Steelers (huge rivalry game); at 2-6 they are probably already out of it but they will either view the Bills game as their "last chance" or overlook Buffalo with Pittsburgh coming to town -- the Pats*** have a bye but then begin a 4-week stretch @Philly, Dallas, @Houston, and then KC; the AFC East is still up for grabs -- Dallas plays @NE*** four days before hosting the Bills on Turkey Day (letdown game?) -- the Steelers have made it to 4-4 and host the Rams next week, but then their next four are @Browns, @Bengals, Browns, @Cardinals before the Bills come to town; it's possible they are 7-6 and still "in the hunt" at that point I think next week's game at Cleveland is truly a key to the season...win it and the Bills will be big favorites vs. Denver and @Miami with a truly legitimate shot to be 9-2 going to Dallas.
-
With Cleveland sitting at 2-6 I wonder if a lot of Bills fans will be able to infiltrate the stadium.
-
It seems almost comical to say this, but given the makeup of this Browns roster and lack of overall team discipline they could actually take the Bills game "for granted" since they have a Thursday night matchup with the Steelers the following week.

You and I have pretty consistently bashed the Gase hire from the get-go and it still amazes me that anyone thought that guy deserved a 2nd chance so quickly after flaming out in Miami. The Dallas win for the Jets now looks like it will wind up as the most improbable result of the season. My 0-7 thread was really dead on.
