I just want to say that I've never seen Ryan Cannon and Pierre Kingpin in the same room...take it for what it's worth.

It's all fun and games to laugh at the Pats* -- believe me, I enjoy it -- but every team starts the season still feeling its way around. Even established teams undergo some roster/coaching churn, and nobody knows exactly how it will all play out. Sometimes it takes a few games. Nobody wins a championship in September and October, but the key is not putting yourself too far behind the eight ball with a slow start.

My understanding is that in CA, reasonable belief that a 16 or 17 yo was 18 is a valid defense to the charge of statutory rape (presuming the sex was consensual). I still think Araiza’s future in Buffalo is all about what he told McD and Beane when they first became aware of the incident, and what they have now learned to be true. If he lied to them, he’s toast. If he did not, and there is no evidence he participated in the alleged assault, it’s a different story. McD’s press conference last night gave many of us the impression Araiza may not have been forthcoming with the Bills.

A lot of us have predicted the Pats* will blow this year.

I agree that if Araiza lied to the Bills, that should be it for him here regardless of the eventual result of the allegations.

Why does anyone need to “pick a side” before the facts are known? If the facts show that Araiza had consensual sex at a college party with a girl he thought was 18 and played no part in any alleged assault, does he deserve to lose his job? I don’t understand the need to rush to judgment. From what I’ve read, I think both of the lawyers involved have acted pretty terribly.

I'd say it's a luxury but not a necessity. The real key is to have a deep and diverse group of playmakers.

Oh it was snarky as hell, I freely admit. And not really directed at you, so I apologize. I have had it up to you-know-where with the incessant rehashing of the Cody Ford pick. It’s a horse that was dead a long time ago, yet keeps being beaten. To some that apparently means they are “keeping it real” with respect to Beane. To me it’s just a lot of wasted breath. All GMs make some terrible decisions; what separates the good and great ones is recognizing those mistakes, doing what they can to correct them, and making a hell of a lot of other great decisions that make up for the occasional miss. And that is the last post I will write in this thread. Go Bills!
