  1. How would anyone know at all if we can evaluate the DL well or not? Develop them or not? We’ve had more misses than true hits. Murphy was a big bomb. We’ll find out this year how well or not Beane drafted along the DL…. And till then…we just don’t know.
  2. I love our offensive coaching staff with four, count ‘em, four current or former offensive coordinators. I’m sure Ken Dorsey is experienced enough by now that all three of the other OCs have their job outlines clearly laid out. I’m one of the few that even appreciates the Shula hire. I agree that he will be breaking down defenses a week in advance to prepare the rest of the coaches for the battle ahead. I just hope the defense makes some adjustments for when we play elite QBs. We have to get pressure on QBs, that’s the whole story. That crap we tried to do vs. KC was completely worthless. We played a very similar defense two years in a row and it’s up to these coaches to know they have to do something different. Step one was free agency where we signed five new defensive linemen including a good pass rusher in Von Miller. It is interesting to note that the DTs we signed all have some pass rush skills and/or pocket crumbling capabilities. Combine all that info with the fact that we rightfully decided to sink or swim with those three high draft picks at end. All of this says to me that we are going to play our DL different than in year’s past. We will line Von in a wide nine. We will create a roll for Bernard on third and ten or more to rush the passer by the playoffs if he stays healthy, imho… We’ll stop pushing OTs into the QB so much… We will try to hit the QB more than we have in the past. I also think Bernard might be used to spell Von on a casino. Again, third and very long… At least I hope we try new ways to disrupt a QB and we play more aggressively. Elam is going to be a huge hit and he will add great speed to our once, not so fast defense backfield. Our slowest corner is now our fastest. He’s big and mean as well. Can’t wait to see the kids this summer!
  3. Somehow I’m still watching…LOL…. TO talking about winning Super Bowls as part of being a great WR…. Diggs, Davis gonna get theirs this year…. I feel Khalil is going to help and then be with a Josh a long time. Shakir says he likes the slot the best but we need outside players….
  4. Oh, I couldn’t do it…. He’s a good kid who went to a good team. We are going to use him in different ways…. Welcome to Buffalo!
  5. I think the pick has to be a DL…. We need our DL to be very good and gel… It could be any of the starters save Von who already is a star. Could be anyone of the backups …. Could be a competition of our DL…. Maybe Tim Settle really was the biggest prize in FA? Maybe Ed breaks out because of Von’s presence? AJ turned 23 maybe he takes off this year? Maybe AJ and Basham needed playing time? Who knows? We just know we need balance to win a Super Bowl. Look no farther to find where we need to get a lot better…. Also: Elam might be attacked quite a bit if White proves to be as good as last year. Or, teams attack White and he makes all kinds of big plays? Its not the offense that we need to play better, it’s the defense….
  6. You know who are Deebo Samuel like? James Cook and Khalil Shakir….. Cant wait to watch this Offense evolve week to week…. ( I just hope Marquez Stevenson makes the final 53 and looks great this summer…. He fills out our need for outside speed….)
  7. At least it’s those three fighting for two jobs, not three…. It sounds a lot worse thinking it’s three jobs…. I think the kid from Villanova also makes it as the fourth outside CB. Unless the Bills drafted him to be a safety? IDK? That could be another healthy body at the position. But yes, I expect Elam to start week one. It’s Tre that is the big question mark and I’m sure the Bills know a whole lot more than we do on White’s progress. I don’t even know what the return time is for an ACL anymore? Anybody know this? I was told it is not a full year anymore but then how long is it? The Bottom Line: Our back seven ought to be real fine once everyone settles down. If there is one thing this regime can do, it’s draft corners and get them ready for the opener. Sure, they are going to take some lumps early but once they settle down I see our back seven as one of the best in the league…. ………… Tremaine …… Milano ………. TJ Tre……. Hyde ………… Poyer …………… Elam. We’ve been wanting to add a high ceiling guy to those six vets for awhile. I’m glad we all got to see it in action (knock on wood) before we lose Poyer and Hyde. It ought to be pretty sensational. Health is a big question every year, but what we need to see is a big improvement on that defensive line in order for this defense to really be one that can win a Super Bowl. But as far as Elam goes, I think he is plug and play. The Bills would not have traded up if it weren’t so… He’s a freakin’ #1 pick! Of course he is starting.
  8. The fact is we don’t know how good or how bad we are going to be at DT…. Hopefully Jones, Settle, Jordan and Ed are working out as we speak and getting ready to work hard together. It is very unusual for a playoff team to nearly completely rebuild its DT position so I sure hope Beane knows what he is doing as the DL as a whole probably determines if we win a Super Bowl or not…. Is Settle the FA Find of the 2022-23 season like many suggested? Does Daquan Jones have the stamina to impose his will on an OL this year? He’s a pretty good player but every year is different. Ed is going to see less doubles this year with Von to his right and at 24, is he ready to become a star? is Jordan Phillips working hard to pump that iron? He can be too much to handle when his mind is set to it…
  9. Re: Bernard. I posted this the other day on rumblings. Not a post but a comment. The Bills are not taking Taron Johnson off the field, he’s too good and makes too much money. But I remember when we had Zo Alexander. We had a special role for him on third and long. Now Bernard is nothing like Zo physically but are very smart and both had a knack for getting to the QB. Mahomes usually avoids full-size pass rushers with his quickness. We got KC in third and over six a few times but KC made them. I was thinking of this defense if it’s third and ten or more…. Bernard - Boogie - Ed -Von …..Tremaine - Milano - TJ Tre - Hyde - Poyer - Elam…. Its a small defense but no one is going to gain ten yards running against it. And the pass rush may be superb. Remember Bernard had I think, 16.5 sacks as a LB…. He’s good at it. He’s also agile enough to get mobile QBs yet big enough to bring the, down. So, technically it’s a 3-3-5 defense or if you call Von a LB. 2-4-5 D….. The Bills definitely have to think outside the box when playing elite QBs…. And pure speed could be the ticket in third and long….
  10. LOL, our whole offense, the K-Gun, should have been called the T-Gun because Jim Kelly had one big read. If it was a run defense, he’d throw to to the Thurmanator, if it was a pass D, he’d hand it off to Thurman. This is absolutely 100% true. Of course it was more complicated than that re: the other receivers….but that was the gist of the K-gun. That’s why we were so unstoppable. It looks like we will be unstoppable again even though we were already unstoppable….LOL, we have Josh Allen! Though the two of them will make us even more unstoppable. Both Cook and Shakir. I think we might have a role forBernard on our defense as well. He is a talented blitzer and we definitely have to do something the next time we play Mahomes in the playoffs….
  11. Well, it’s official, we’re going to find out what we drafted the last two years. Hopefully we are in for a big improvement. A lot is riding on our new DL… A Super Bowl as a matter of fact. A Good DL and we’ll be awfully tough for any team to beat. I say, barring injuries, if our DL is genuinely good we win the Super Bowl. Additionally, if our line is good, Beane wins GM of the year. At least he should after building that new DL for us. Is it ready to take off? Three young ends plus five FA DL including Von Miller, add one Ed Oliver and mix…. Does our DL do it for us this year? Man, I hope so…..
  12. Unfortunately, we don’t really know how much better our DL will be this Year. I think you can say it will be better but just being better than last year’s DL is no Super Bowl guarantee. “ You win and lose on the lines,” someone pretty smart once said. I think if you combine that with, “whoever has the best QB wins,” and take them 50/50 you’re coming close to the truth. We need our three young ends to take big steps this year, imho… Beane also has to be right about our three new DTs. They have to be very good, imho… I like that all four of our defensive tackles can push the pocket and/or can penetrate. I think we went into FA looking for tackles that can effect the pass and succeeeded I just don’t know by how much. IHmo, we have to do a lot better job harassing good QBs. That’s everyone along the line. If it is just Von that’s talented at getting to the QB we’re completely screwed. If Ed can take big advantage or defenses paying attention to Von that’d be excellent. If Groot can win his one on one matchups a lot better than last year that would be awesome. It really is about the whole DL winning one on one matchups. If we can do that, I think we can win the Super Bowl. On offense, it looks like we have a better front five than we have had in years. It is the depth that is the big question. I sure Kromer can develop this line and the backups as I was expecting an OG by the sixth rd. and we didn’t get it done. Clearly Beane likes our depth so I feel OK about it, but I will feel better seeing this team this summer (even though preseason is completely meaningless)) I would like to see our backup OL look coordinated and competitive. pour Achilles Heals are the same as last year I think. Lose a starting outside corner, losing an outside WR (Davis or Diggs) or losing an OT would be pretty devastating to us…. I’d add Von Miller to the list and of course all bets are off without Josh… Is this different from any other team? Probably not, but some teams have depth on the outside at one outside position or another. The Bills really don’t unless it develops this summer. Maybe AJ or Boogie will explode this fall? Or Doyle takes a massive step? Who knows? Maybe Stevenson tears it up this summer? I hope so! Go Bills!
  13. I think Stevenson needs to really surprise for us so we have more deep speed. I hope he has an awesome summer and fall…
  14. Yeah, Pretty sure Mancz is going to make the roster and Ike will start out on the PUP List….
  15. I really think we NEED Stevenson to win that last WR job. I think we need more deep speed. But othwise, I think that depth chart is right on. Go Bills! Shakir and I’m hoping Stevenson makes the team.
  16. I like your thoughts about the Bills going DL still, I think the same….
  17. We have an excellent list of can’t be beaten: He who cannot be named at RB, Jason Peters (yet another embarrassment, LOL)) Bruce Smith (finally a player who hasn’t blew up in our faces) and Josh Allen (when all is said and done he is going to be one of the best ever.) Ted Washington (the best run defender of all-time wasn’t just a one trick pony.) but that’s five players where you really can’t say there is a better one at their position in NFL history. I think the biscuit was the best coverage OLB of all-time. Extremely strong vs. the run and maybe the best pass coverage full size LB of all time. So that’s six.
  18. Of course there’s a chance! Right now, Beane is going to see if they can handle it in this draft. But you never know how the draft is going to go….They might not meet their CB needs and they know they can sign a vet there if things fall through…. Having said that, I think it is a tiny chance. I think CB is very deep this draft and they are pretty much certain that they will fill the tank at corner with better prospects than Wallace. Then, of course, we have to coach them way up starting shortly after the draft. Positions to hit: CBs, WR, RB, OG, DT, LB and P…. I’d love three CBs that can play outside but I doubt I get my wish. Call me crazy but my draft crush for the Bills is Jordan Davis. And my wouldn’t surprise me at one pick is Ojabo….
  19. I have a surprise wish instead: Jordan Davis drops to 25 and the Bills swoop and win the draft. Which allows them to win Super Bowl… Honestly, I don’t there is even a one% chance he falls and even if he did I doubt he, “fits” Leslie’s D…. Personally, I’ve always preferred, A) huge DTs and B, coordinators that made the defense fit the player. Sorry everyone, rant over.
  20. Mike Williams clearly was the BIGGEST bust out of that list…. Both figuratively and literally….He was drafted really high! #1? Something like that….
  21. Hearing a lot of teams that have high second round picks are looking to move up into the first round to jump Tennesee and Detroit at 32…. that bodes mucho grande for Buffalo that could use that extra third round pick or package both thirds up into the second round. Or even pick 57 & 89 up high into the second to nab someone…. We could end up with picks 34, 44 and the third we got in the trade down….We’d have a dynamite draft that way, imho….
  22. The question I have is will there be any good prospects by 89? How ‘bout 121? It would be awsome if we could get our 2 CBs in the 3rd njd fourth rounds. I’m not sure they’ll be any left by 89? I just don’t know? But if we could back to back in the 3rd and 4th we could go WR and RB in the first two. Or better yet a trade down to 34 for an extra third. Go WR, RB, CB, CB, OG…. If we trade down maybe we could trade up in the second and end up with picks 34 and 44…. Maybe get Watson and Hall? Maybe that’s crazy. I think both are rising but you never know till they’re picked. Get me Hall and Watson, two good CB prospects and an OG….by the end of the 5th round and we won the draft from 25…. LOL, we’re probably drafting a CB at 25…. Just a boring draft….
  23. I agree. I sure hope we can claim the AFC Crown and make everyone come to us. LOL, I count 8 other teams with real Super Bowl possibilities. That’s crazy! I don’t think this has ever happened before, not even close! This is the football gods punishing us, we finally get a super QB, now they’re all over the place…. It’s disgusting… The AFC West is just crazy! We talk about having to beat KC, KC is just another team this year, Imho…. The colts withGilmore and Matty Ice? Nuts! Imho, the Bills have to nail this draft as we need all the help we can get. To make the offense Super we need Hall and another very good outside WR plus a good prospect at OG that can step in if needed or even beat out Bates. The defense is tougher to get a handle on as we have a nearly completely rebuilt DL nine deep. But no one knows how they will play together. How effective they will be. Someone has to be good enough to take doubles off of Von. We need a push up the middle and pressure coming from the right side of our defense. We need to mix up our defense this year, not make it so easy for offenses to take us apart. Lots of pressure on Leslie to use Von correctly and to be able to get Von in a position to make big plays. Then we have to be able to get out of early season games with wins. We have to field a successful secondary without Tre White. I don’t know how long or how long Tre is going to need to get his game back to 100%… Those early losses, if our secondary makes big mistakes, will cost us big later. McBeane and Leslie have tons of pressure on them this year, especially early.
