Does JP Losman get the start next week?
rockpile replied to billsfan76's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Focus on that and do not let the rest bother you. December at the Ralph against the Fish... you have been a fan long enough to remember when that was all we needed. Do not let the Bills ruin your day. It is just not worth it. -
Thinking of throwing in the towel
rockpile replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I blame my father. He was a founding member of the Buffalo Bills Boosters Club and took me to many AFL games. I remember the two AFL championships and waited 25 years for the four AFC Championships. I have been watching since Lombardi was a championship coach, and now I am waiting for a Lombardi trophy. My new avatar describes how I feel. "If I only had a brain" LOL Go Bills! -
So, Bills won't buy remaining seats at 66% off
rockpile replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
One example: At the last regular season game vs. the Jets, and playoffs already assured for both teams, home field advantage in post season was at stake. Game day weather: chill factor - 28 degrees below zero. We made a game day decision to go to the game, froze our asses off, the Bills won. The game was not sold out and not televised locally. Another example: Bills get their butts kicked by the Oilers in the final regular season game. The following week is the wild-card round in Buffalo in polar conditions. The opponent is again the Oilers and most fans expect the worst. Jim Kelly is hurt, so the backup QB will start. We stayed home and watched the game on satellite at a bar (they had not stopped that practice yet) The game was not sold out and not televised locally. (that was the miracle comeback game, btw) I guess I am local, since the Ralph is 80 miles away. To enjoy myself, it pretty much uses up my whole day. For reasons justifiable to me, I cannot go every game. Does this make me a bad fan? I know some of you think it does. I do not expect Ralph to eat 12,000+ tickets. I know, let's 'occupy' the parking lots with banners and signs. Aren't we entitled to see every game from our couch? -
A Few Thoughts About The Game
rockpile replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The thing that surprises me the most is that people are surprised that the Bills are just an average team. They are not bad or great, they are average. Last year they were bad. I hope they start being fun to watch again soon. -
That is how I was coping at 4:30. Now I am coping by replying to beardless people. heh

I just can't cope. I have no reason to live. Think I will go rake some leaves while the sun is still out.

Chris Collins on stadium improvements
rockpile replied to first_and_ten's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You said nothing offensive. I would vote for Collins if I lived in Erie County. -
Direct TV is free now?? All right!

Chris Collins on stadium improvements
rockpile replied to first_and_ten's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Only if he rides like the wind. I live in Monroe County, so no... I like the fact that his philosophy is to run government like a business. Don't have the money? Don't buy it! -
Chris Collins on stadium improvements
rockpile replied to first_and_ten's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is from 2008, but is an interesting slant to the topic: "Collins said that he has passed word to the Buffalo Bills that he is open to negotiating an extension for their lease to use the county-owned Ralph Wilson Stadium beyond the 2012 season but that the team is not yet ready to do so." collins personal political page On 10/01 this was anounced: "Collins’ proposed 2012 Budget boosts the Road Fund to nearly $14 million, which has seen an increase of $7.6 million since the County Executive took office. The 2012 Budget also includes the County’s Six-Year Capital Plan totaling nearly $429 million. As in the past, the plan includes critical road and bridge repair, and reconstruction projects throughout Erie County. It also marks the beginning of a multi-year program to replace the County’s large vehicle fleet. This proposal contains over $2.2 million for improvements to our countywide park system, including funds for shelter upgrades, road and pathway repairs, and updated drainage systems at the two county-run golf courses. Improvements will be made to the security system at the Sheriff’s Headquarters in Orchard Park, and the Erie County Morgue and Toxicology Buildings. The County also will continue to honor its responsibilities to Erie Community College, Visit Buffalo Niagara, as well as upgrades to Ralph Wilson Stadium." -
Chris Collins on stadium improvements

Collins is a business man and is looking at it from a business perspective. 1. NY taxpayers are already paying for other stadiums with taxes. 2. Does anyone think Erie County alone can pay for the repairs and renovations? 3. If it is a regional franchise, why place the burden on one county? All business negotiations have to start somewhere, usually with each side as polar opposites. In the end they both give enough to reach a deal acceptable to each side. His statement brings the Bills, the County, and the State into the negotiations. He KNOWS it is in the best interests of the region and state that the Bills stay where they are. He has no motive to play tough guy and drive them away! He has to have a spine, though. -
Picked up a 'growler' of Long Trail Double IPA. I will let you know....... hic.... Did two growlers of Pumpkin Spice IPA since the football season started. Very different and deceivingly easy to consume in mass quantity.

Carlin was the guest host for the very FIRST SNL. Actually, the name of the show then was simply 'Saturday Night' ("Live from NY it's Saturday Night!") I have the first season on DVD and recommend it highly. They spent season one figuring out what kind of variety show they were going to be. Carlin did become much more political and acidic after a few decades of changing his comedy to pass the censors.

Buffalo Bills have EXCEEDED my expectations!
rockpile replied to rockpile's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No, Babyrock 's younger sister, Kalene is my recently married daughter. She was with my (now) son-in-law at the home opener at Hammer's, and married two weeks later. -
Anyone see the end of the Cowboys game?

Point very well made, PTR. I still hated the call. I never said I was logical. -

To Summarize The Current Thoughts on the Bills
rockpile replied to Casey D's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is not directed at anyone, especially not at you. Something occurred to me when you said, "every team has holes." Seems that oftentimes those 'holes are the Monday morning QB's ! LOL -
Buffalo Bills have EXCEEDED my expectations!
rockpile replied to rockpile's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The point of this thread is very simple. I expected another year of total suck, and instead the first six games have provided football worth watching. I am SO not ok that they lost to the Giants. They should have closed it the way they did with the Patriots. The end of game play calling was surprisingly stupid. I did not see the Bengals game but was disappointed that they lost in OT. I was at my daughters' wedding and getting updates while playing my role: Father of the Bride. The point is that the Bills are much better than I expected they would be this year. They are playing with heart. I never said that means 'losing is OK'. Seriously. -
Lets look at the postives of today

I like your attitude, Diane! -
The Bills are 4-2. The Bills lost both of those games by a last minute or overtime field goal. The Bills beat the Patriots. The Bills have been fun to watch. I had no expectations of this team going into this season. I knew I would be watching and cheering, but I could not invest myself emotionally like I used to. The Bills have been playing some exceptional football, and kept their composure after losing the lead instead of folding. The Bills could have just as easily been 2-4 or worse going into the bye week. Thank you, Buffalo Bills for giving me a reason to watch football again. I really believe that they expect to win every game.

Given the circumstances and Fitz previous INT, I respectfully disagree. Chan should have called a running play. tick tock tick tock

THAT was the game killer. Run the ball and the clock. Three points were almost guaranteed.

1. I wore my Hansen jersey from the 90's 2.. I did not shave

Any idea on how someone could get in touch with Phil Hansen? I spoke with him for quite some time when he was a rookie, wearing a Bill Jersey. He asked what it would take for me to wear HIS Jersey. I told him he had to make the Hall or Wall of Fame! I am wearing a Hansen Jersey to the game today. Should be at TBD tailgate at Hammer's by 7AM..... Life is GOOD! GO BILLS!
