Draft Prospects with Private Meetings with the Bills
ganesh replied to MAJBobby's topic in The Stadium Wall
May be Taiwan Jones will not be playing in 2023. -
Also, I think the system does not take into account the median. Teams in the 1st and 2nd round take a lot more risks with QB, DL, WR and CB and draft them in large numbers. For the other positions, they are drafted only if they are sure fire winners. I believe that is why those other positions have a higher success rate...it is just that their sample size in those rounds are much smaller.

How did the Patriots maintain a top team for 17 years?
ganesh replied to Success's topic in The Stadium Wall
An important point to note also is that the rest of the AFC East sucked during that 17 year period (except for the 2 years of Rex Ryan Jets). Brady and the Patriots won the AFC East with ease setting themselves up with good seeding and playing in Foxboro. These are small things but they have a big impact. When the AFC East teams actually competed, they beat up on Brady and the Patriots! -
His speed is amazing. Something our OC did not leverage well last year.

The Cincy game & its affect on how we view the team
ganesh replied to Success's topic in The Stadium Wall
How the hell did this team then win 13 games and could have won 2 of the remaining 3 easily. !!!!' McKenzie definitely had bad drops that hurt the team. Davis actually had his best season (statistically) but could have been better. Allen was injured and definitely not his self post the injury. You cannot expect all your backups on defense to become super stars. I agree that the OL was a weakness and could have help Allen better. But it was more of our defense not being able to stop star QBs (heck even a 4th stringer in the playoffs against Miami). -
The Cincy game & its affect on how we view the team

It would be good to list what the "Plenty of obvious issues" would be so that we can be objective. I agree that the OL requires the upgrade; so does all teams. The Bengals played 3 backups against us. I mean their talent level would have been below our starters right...but they played lights out...may be the scheme had something to do with it. The team went 13-3 in regular season...but after the Hamlin injury, they had too many things to overcome emotionally... They had an odd year, where they had to dig themselves out of snow to travel to a game, were stuck in Chicago on Christmas and had to fly into Rochester; and the Hamlin injury in Cincinnati. Not to forget that Knox lost his brother at the beginning of the season and their owner went into a real bad medical situation . The entire secondary was decimated at different times and so did the DL. There was also a revolving door at the OL due to injuries. It is hard to overcome so many things in the NFL and the team still finished 13-3 and lost close games to the Jets, Miami and Minnesota, with the Jets game being the only one where I thought they were bullied by the Jets defense. -

Why blame the defense only, I don't think the offense did any justice by scoring FGs in the Red Zone. -

I would love to see the Bills get Damien Harris. -
And we will be drafting lineman high in the draft

Bobby Wagner - the solution to the Edmunds problem

The chief won a SB with key contributions from their rookies. -
add in a 30 for your pass rusher. What he is saying is that stop gaps can be rookies and not invest in expensive veterans,

Bills reportedly interested in Jamaal Williams

Josh is our short yardage TD machine -
This is what people used to say every time the Patriots lost key players... As long as we have Josh Allen playing at a high level we will always be competitive and will our way to wins...we won 13 games. The Dolphins and Jets won 9.

Is Edmunds decision the most difficult Beane has ever faced?
ganesh replied to Ethan in Cleveland's topic in The Stadium Wall
And that decision becomes difficult when you have to pay this huge State Income Tax. -
Brandon Beane admitting fault & not learning from his mistakes.
ganesh replied to Rebel101's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think this was a key difference between Dorsey and Daboll. Daboll used the speed available to him and put the ball in the hands of those players to make the plays. Dorsey went for the long ball too often when the checkdowns with the speed RBs were hardly used. Also, to be fair, Cook struggled the first half of the year before coming on. Hines was taking time to learn the playbook. May be this year will be different -
Bills 2023 schedule 7th hardest (based off of 2022 opponents)
ganesh replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
The Jets and Patriots finished 3rd and 4th in the AFC East. -
I somehow feel that Josh was reined in better by Daboll whereas he seems to be 'more comfortable' with Dorsey and is taking bigger gambles. It would be good for our coaches to push that down to Allen. This season we went for a jugular a lot more often than the previous years and it didn't make sense when your OL couldn't hold up.

The 2nd half of the SB reminded me of our playoff game against the Patriots. Allen was throwing to wide open people (after that first miraculous TD to Knox). I believe the Bills have the talent to execute such game plans

Dorsey has been the QB coach here for the past three years and probably had an excellent handle on it learning from Daboll. He was as qualified for the job as any other OC that might have been available last year. Dorsey did a reasonably good job to have the Bills at 13-3 in spite of what others might say. I mean we were blowing away teams early in the season before the injuries gave in. Our draft picks on the Offensive side were very average (Cook, Shakir) and the FA (Crowder) was done after the 1st game. I believe Dorsey will learn from this years experience and know that further creativity is required and maximize the use of our non-elite players.
