Jets and Quinnen Williams agree on 4-year 96 million deal

Star being the best of this example. -
Did we do enough? I think we are getting there.

Agree with you, The Bills have tried to build through the draft and get mid-tier FA except for Morse and Miller (and previously Star), Both Hyde and Poyer were low key signings that have gone on to build a great career with the Bills (and are as good as Bills draftees). We have had good to reasonable success with Dawkins, White, Edmunds, Oliver, Singletary, Knox Warming up for success are Cook, Elam, Groot and Benford, Davis Hoping to have success with Brown, Basham and Epenesa, Shakir Failed heavily with Cody Ford, Moss and several. 4th/5th rounders that did not make the team The key to our SB run will be if Cook, Elam, Groot, Davis and Benford can turn in a super season and Brown, Basham, Shakir and Epenesa can hold their fort. These players have the talent to be super stars in the NFL and this is the year for them to put it all together -
I think people go by how we do in the playoffs... Mahomes beat Burrow and Lawrence Burrow beat Allen and Jackson Lawrence beat Herbert Allen beat the Dolphins 3rd string QB The way we got beat at home by the Bengals sticks a lot in the mind of media...We lost by 17 points at home when we were the favorites. They man handled us at every point in the game. A lot of the blame for that loss goes directly to how Josh played the game (fair or not).

The game was different in the 90s...but in the last twenty years the game is more or less the same..QBs have elevated themselves; starting from Manning brothers, Brady, Big Ben, Rivers, Rodgers have all made it a QB driven league. It is continuing with Mahomes, Allen, Burrow, Dak etc. The one missing stat here is the number of Fumbles and fumbles lost. I think Josh has fumbled the ball a lot more than his contemporary QBs (due to the nature of his running game or holding on to the FB to make the big play). It would be good to get that stats.

What the Bills need to do to take the next step
ganesh replied to HaldimandBills's topic in The Stadium Wall
I have lot of doubts about the DL Coach, Washington. He has been very underwhelming -
I think those small adjustments are the difference between winning and losing in the playoffs.

Agreed. Marino from Locked on Bills had a good theory...Davis was asked to stay back to block (due to the poor OL) and take the short routes. Davis does not have the slot-guys speed nor step to separate from the DB. Allen could never find Davis for the short throws and went more the longer route. This was even observed by Beane and Schoen during the draft. They found him starting slow and then closing fast....you can imply that Davis has no chance as a slot receiver but has the ability to get consistent separation on the long ball.

What the Bills need to do to take the next step

Do remember that the Bengals OL was missing most of their starters for the game and yet they manhandled us on that evening. -
I think this is a problem. Until now, the BIlls have been perceived as a well-run professional organization and that they know what they are doing. That is what helped us get FA such as Miller, Floyd, Ford etc. The handling of this business (or inability to handle) is going to raise eyebrows in the future as to the capabilty of this organization.

2023 Buffalo Bills from a Patriots fan perspective
ganesh replied to Fixxxer's topic in The Stadium Wall
And we scraped through the other games...the team was talent wise better than those teams they beat...In the playoffs, they barely beat the Dolphins at home with a 3rd string QB...and then ran into a more talented team with a chip on the shoulder and they executed. -
To win in the playoffs and win the super bowl you need:everyone to fire on ALL cylinders and that includes the coaching staff along with the players and the super stars. Our defense has done some outstanding job in the regular season in terms of points allowed etc. but have been inconsistent in the playoffs. They couldn't close out games (Houston, KC) Our coaches have made poor decisions at critical times.

Josh Allen not in the same sentence ??
-
Josh Allen appears very serious in all the events and press conference during this off season. Compared to it, he was goofing around and loose in previous off seasons. I usually find him playing well when he is loose and comfortable. Anyone else notice this marked difference ?

They did get hot in the playoffs...A dream come back from nowhere win against the chargers, followed by a close one at Arrowhead.

Schein-Cook is on his "guaranteed to improve" list

I think the Patriots ran that kind of thing in their hey days. -
NFL.com ranks the most "complete" teams in the NFL; Bills at #6
ganesh replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
The Bills lost three games in the regular season by a total of eight points...including the muffed game against the Vikings. I always wonder why the 13 teams last year did NOT let Allen run and double Diggs....or they did and others made plays ? Last year we did not have Kincaid, White did not play until Week 10, the two Safeties were mostly injured, Miller went on IR in week 10 and yet we went 13-3. This year, the safeties are back healthy, White is fully back from injury, we have signed Ford and Floyd to shore up the DL....sure we lost Edmunds and will be hard ot replace him at the MLB position...but still this team has improved than last year. -
Bills/Chiefs week 6 on NFL ntwk right now

and why Josh Allen is your QB. Go Bills ! -
How will the defense be different this year?
ganesh replied to oldmanfan's topic in The Stadium Wall
This team needs to learn to stop the run in critical times. I know they have been in top 10 Rush defense...but when it came to critical stops, this team failed. We need them to pick that up. We dominate the run ad put pressure on the QB. This team needs its defense to step up unlike any other year for them to have a shot at the SB -
Speculation: Could an extension for Gabe Davis be coming too?

I really would like us to pay Jones and lock him up. -
Bills/Chiefs week 6 on NFL ntwk right now

The WR group we had in 2021 was brilliant.. Diggs, Sanders, Beasley, Davis, Knox. I hope we can get similar production from the 2023 unit. -
What I am excited about: Josh Allen playing with more focus in the off season Cook trending towards a bonafide NFL starter at RB Addition to the WR stable - Kincaid at Slot/TE, Hartey, Sheffield, Short Possible emergence of Shakir Addition of Damien Harris to the RB stable The offense definitely has the firepower to put on 30+ points every game. What I am worried about who is the signal caller on Defense ? Will Tre White come back to be the player he was in 2020-2021? Can we generate pass rush (Groot, Epenesa, Basham, Lawson) Will signing of Ford allow us to stop the run better ? Will the two safeties come back from their injuries and dominate the way they played in 2021 Will the coaching staff show up for big games ? I hope the Bills put 22 players on the field with specific tasks and don't ask their star players to over-compensate for weakness at their neighboring positions (For example, Matt Milano, Gabe Davis etc). It is on the coaching staff to get this team to execute and there is no excuses for this staff. Eric Washington should be in the hot seat for the DL play for the last few years (which has been soft).
