You assume Jones is going to fall to the middle of the 1st round. I doubt that will happen. And what is the one player someone will covet at #8 to give their 1st and 2nd for ? May be the Bills need to stop putting more former players on the Wall. That wall is just getting too strong year after year!!! making it difficult for the players to get over it

You mean the Lingerie Bowl?

May be this coaching staff has a more positive outlook on Marcus Easley than the previous regime.

The Baby boomers were a hard working, earn-your-money-the-hard-way folks...On the other hands the folks from today's generation are.....take everything for granted!!! +1

Right down on I-95. JAX Sure why not...With the 20M from the Bills for a 7-20 record, he can buy an entire island off the Florida coast.

Cut Him !!!! I heard Troupe was bench pressing 700, 30 times!!!!

We already know where Nelson, Fitz and Barnett can take us and that is to a 6-10 record. Why bother paying them when you cannot get the necessary returns or a hope for improvement. I would rather sign up street FAs who have more hunger and more disciplined to play for the Buffalo Bills.

That just showed how bad was Jauron's offense. However, Gailey is still light years behind many of the creative offensive coordinators in today's NFL. Once teams figured out Fitz lame throws in the flat, Gailey's offense stunk. They could not covert 3rd and shorts consistently to be able to move the chain. Gailey's stats are padded a little by what Spiller did in a 1/2 workload.

Looking like Jaguars are the team most interested in him to come in and compete with Henne and Gabbert. http://blackandteal.com/2013/03/12/ryan-fitzpatrick-released-potential-qb-competition-for-jags/

The fact that Cassell who is equally bad or worser than Fitz was immediately snapped up by the Vikings to challenge Ponder and/or be the primary backup. Fitz was available in the market for more than 24 hours before Matt was released. The other teams are soon going to validate the fact that the Bills did *NOT* have a starting QB in Fitz.

You have to draft QBs to find the good ones. We needed someone to play behind Bledsoe for a few years to take over, similar to what Rodgers did behind Favre. The bigger fundamental problem was the lack of continuity in the coaching staff to bring Losman up. We did the same thing as Chan did with Fitz. They put the game in Losman's hands instead of making him the role player initially. The mistake the Bills did was to let go Bledsoe after the Pittsburgh finale fiasco and then annoiting Losman. He just was not ready having missed his entire rookie year. Also, there is nothing for sure to know that Rodgers would have been available for us to draft in 2005. In hindsight we know Rodgers is a good QB....But in 2005 about 25 teams passed on him before the Packers picked him up. Let us not rewrite history. I see the Bills staying put and picking the BPA available @ #8 if Smith or Barkley are gone. If Smith/Barkley are gone, then it gives us a pretty good shot to pick Manuel, Nassib or Wilson at the top of the 2nd round and the Bills will pick the one they like the most. The Bills would have to hold on to next years 1st rounder in case the QB position is not settled this year. To be fair to Donahoe, he tried hard to get in front of Pittsburgh to draft Ben. However, Jacksonville turned down the offer, because they were worried the player they were targeting Reggie Williams WR would not be available at the Bills pick as the Jets were in front of them. The Bills tried, but failed to make a deal as there were quite a few blue chip players that teams coveted and were unwilling to trade down. The mistake made by Donahoe was firing Bledsoe at the end of next season when he couldn't beat the Steelers with the playoffs on the line.

In Pittsburgh that works because the Backups are constantly pushing the starters and also have viable replacements if the starter departs. (This may not be how they are today, but in general they have operated that way the last decade). That allows them to delay paying the starters. I don't think the Bills have built sufficient depth for our backups to compete with our starters. Heck our former coach wouldn't even allow the backups to *COMPETE* with the starters. We never developed our depth players into starters.

Or it could be that Marronne had a say on it and would prefer to use that money to shore up his LB corps rather than spend it on a guard. It is ok to have a plan to retain many of your best players, but don't have to do it on all. Levitre was a good player and sure would like to have him in Bills Red/Blue/White. But this is business. Also, Levitre might think that the Titans give him a better chance to make the playoffs than the Bills.

Real funny! thanks for sharing.

Bills to let David Nelson walk?

Wood coming out of Louisville was going to be the definitely-can't miss center prospect. In spite of his gruesome injuries, he has played very well. -
Right now if a guy is worth 10M, he will ask the Bills to give him 12M to sign with them. In a few days, if the guy's market worth is 5M, the Bills can still get him by paying 6M.

May be the Bills never invited them. Who knows ?

If you're going to start a rookie QB in 2013 . . .
ganesh replied to 1B4IDie's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Fitz is not a starting QB...24 hours since he was let go, I don't see teams clamoring to sign him as their starter. Urbik is our starting RG and not Reinhart. Reinhart got a 1 year deal to be a backup. Not signing Levitre hurts. But I think the Bills made a decision to save that money for re-signing Byrd, Wood and Spiller in the next two years. If they can sign a couple of FA for the defense in the coming days, then thety can select a guard in Rd 3 to replace Leivtre. ERic wood (while injured) means a lot more to this team than anyone else on that line. Wood cnanot be pushed back into the pocket and that gives a huge comfort for the QB to make his reads and throw. The biggest question mark is: Who is going to be the QB? Will they get a shot at Geno or Barkley and would either of them be ready to be the starter on Opening day. +1. Eric Wood means a lot more to this OL and is also the natural leader. Hoping for him to have a remaining injury-free career with the Bills for a long time like Kent Hull. He is a natural at that position. -
Bills biggest potential FA addition - Marrone, Petine

It is the season of Hope! -
I think the Bills are going to let the market cool down and take their shots at filling the other gaping holes. They would have to assume that the difference in talent level between all the hyped up players making the big bucks on day One and the ones sitting under the radar is probably not that big and they would rather wait to have the market cool down and negotiate with these players in their (Bills) terms rather than the players. Many of the other teams are doing nothing too...The Steelers who released many players like us have not been making any splash. Teams do not win the SB by making a splash on day 1 of FA...Just ask the 2011 and 2012 Eagles teams.

Yes and with our other first round bust DE.

If have a rookie QB directing us to a 8-8 record and with luck the balls bounces our way to another two wins, it will be a fantastic achieved and will go on to prove that whatever talent you have, it is up to the coaching staff to put it together. -
Fitz was 7-20 after he signed the contract. The bad part was that Nix gave him a 60M contract (21M guaranteed) after going 5-2....So foolhardy!

+1. And it is time to put some heat on Kyle Williams too. He is part of the problem of being #31 against the run
