I am sure he believes he could start (besides Buffalo) for Arizona, Cleveland, Jacksonville, Oakland etc. And even if he were to take a substantial pay cut to be a backup, may be he wants to be a backup on a super-bowl bound team like Atlanta or Denver or may be he wants to be a backup on a team like Philadelphia whose starting QB is injury prone and likely to miss games. Finally, if you were not just asked to take a pay cut, but also asked to demote yourself in your role in the company, I highly doubt people will stay in that job forever.

I disagree. Even with Peyton Manning, Dungy was able to win just one SB against a weak Chicago team. Even Bill Cowher is a little overrated. He could win a SB only after having an elite QB who did not make mistakes and played like a champion in those playoff games.

A decent coach that is not over his head with a Elite QB will always be in the running for the championship.....However, I don't know if the Bills had a "decent coaching staff" last year...The coaching staff with their own play calling probably ruined an equal number of games as much as the pathetic QB play from Fitzpatrick. Some good examples are Tony Dungy, Lovie Smith, Wisenhunt, Andy Reid are all decent coaches who can compete if they have the right QB. However, I doubt Gailey and his coaching staff could have done any better with a better QB.

Buddy has drafted One good player each for the two lines in three years (Glenn and Dareus). Wood, Levitre and Willaims were drafted by the previous regime. Urbik was a FA Waiver pickup. He has put one decent FA on the defensive line in Mario williams. Of course, none of Glenn, Dareus or Williams are yet to make the pro-bowl or voted as All-pro in their Bills uniforms. There is no physical presence on this DL. For god's sake, this same Defensive line ranked 32nd and 31st against the RUN in the last two seasons of the NFL. In three seasons, Nix is yet to draft a player that has gone to the pro-bowl other than Spiller this year as an alternate! Patting each others back and laughing all the way to the bank!!!!

The other difference is the coaching staff of the dumbass teams and the SB teams....The dumbass teams have predominantly had mediocre coaching staff.

If the Bills want to save that 2.5M for another player, then they could cut him after June1st and amortize that bonus over the next two seasons. I definitely think this is manageable. Also, Anderson may actually have a good role in Pettine's defense.

Wood is definitely (albeit injured often) a better player than Levitre. Wood dominates the line of scrimmage. Whenever Wood for injured, Fitz game was not the same. He never had time to step in the pocket and throw.

We have big contracts for Stevie, Fitz, Mario, Anderson, Williams and Byrd. That is six players. Can we add Levitre and another big WR to that pool ? We definitely have the cap to do it.

Fitz replaced Trent Edwards because he was able to throw the ball down field. Now that Fitz refuses to throw the ball downfield or misfires consistently, it is only time for him to be replaced by someone who can do that. Anyone who can stretch the field opens up those big lanes for Spiller.
