Is Jeff Tuel the reason for T. Tax departure?
ganesh replied to Cheddar's Dad's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't think the Bills fans ever fell in love with TJ....It is one of the most bizarre moves made by Chan and Nix, especially that allowed them to keep Tyler Thigpen as the backup. They simply made a complicated decision in which TJ actually will not throw a single pass in the regular season in a Bills Unfiorm. Disagree. May be Tuel showed enough to this coaching staff during OTA/Mini-camp that they felt comfortable being the 3rd string QB. May be they feel Tuel can play the game if the other two get injured. -
I don't think Kraft deserves credit for picking a HOF QB in the 6th Round. However, it is what he has done in the decade since winning the lottery that deserves the credit. He has astutely managed the Salary cap, including not being pushed to make Brady the highest paid QB in the league. Along with Belichek they have made decisions (some of them cold) that are best for the team. The Patriots are the hottest ticket in town and for that Kraft deserves praise for having turned that franchise around.

Lem Barney, HOFer, says football will be done in 10-20 years

A majority of the NFL players play the game because that is their lifeline. If there is no NFL they are stuck in the back-streets of cities neighborhoods doing illegal stuff and even get killed. I just simply don't see the NFL going away as long as it is an avenue for a lfie-changing event for these players. And may be even once win the big one! -
"Mind-Blowing Stats for The Buffalo Bills" NFL.com

Because that defense couldn't close out games. Also, Bledsoe's game tapered off after the 1st half of the season and was pedestrian in the 2nd half. Special teams was pretty horrible, giving up 2 TDs in the season opener. Also, if you notice, this is the only time, the Bills came close in W/L record with rest of the AFC East...3 teams finished 9-7 with the Jets winning the division and the Bills finished 8-8 and in last place!!! -

Kevin Kolb vs Trent Edwards

Actually Jason Peters whiffed on that play and allowed the Jets Pass Rusher to get around him. Of course, Losman did not feel the pressure and also did not protect the ball. One of the *WORST* plays in Bills history. -
Draft Compensation Picks/Legursky Signing
ganesh replied to jtewy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Are another one of NFLs great ideas to keep the league and its actions a mystery and generate more intrigue. Who knows, in a few decades, we could see the NFL hosting a compensatory-pick-day at Radio City Hall where they would announce who gets what pick and have a big panel of ESPN, NFL Network trying to predict what compensation the next team will achieve and then predicting what player the team would draft in the upcoming draft with that pick and then comparing that player against the lost player(s)....... -

Good article about Byrd agent Eugene Parker by Tim Graham
ganesh replied to bbb's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
People need to stop re-hashing this. Peters has gone to 3 straight pro-bowls with the Eagles (plus the two with the Bills) and has been voted to the All-Pro team. Peters has done full justice to the contract the Eagles gave him. We got a first round pick in Woods for him. Let us move on. -
Which is ok. Kelly comes from a pretty successful Oregon program and Trestman won the cup across the Falls and has built some good/great offense in the NFL in the past.

I don't think the Bills did anything wrong with the Byrd or Levitre scenario. In their last year of contract, both players clearly stated that they wanted to test Free Agency. One got his wish and the other was tagged.

But..But...But...he only had only ONE INT in his rookie campaign !!!!!

Still no peep from Byrd about wanting a long term deal with the Bills. -

QBs always will get a little more, especially since this is guaranteed money.

Actually there is no solid proof as to what Byrd really wants to do. I don't believe there is any report to suggest that Byrd wants to leave the Bills for some other team or vice versa. IMHO, Byrd is simply looking for the best deal for him and his family. -
Coincidentally, found this quote in John Claytons mail bag this week. Head coaches coming from college have an advantage dealing with the new limits on offseason preparation for their teams. The new offseason program must be wrapped up in nine weeks. Coaches have only 10 organized team activity days, a three-day rookie minicamp and a three-day mandatory veteran minicamp. Plus, any new coach hired after the previous season is allowed to have a voluntary minicamp. http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/9334985/nfl-mailbag-ex-college-coaches-edge-shortened-offseason

Why is Mr. Prisco trying to prove himself. Let it go. In this years draft, all QBs had their strength and weakness and different teams rated them differently according to their needs/schemes etc. So what 4 GMs had him rated in the 4th round. I am sure there were 4 other GMs from the remaining 28 teams, who had rated him as a 1st round prospect and 4 other teams would have rated him as a 2nd round prospect and four or more teams may have rated him as a 3rd round prospect. For the Bills sake, I hope they were right about EJ and they have a QB here for the next decade.

May be this is a way to put pressure on Parker to come to the table and agree to a contract that is mutually acceptable to both parties. The Bills could do with Byrds play and leadership and Byrd should be happy to get a good chunk of money that he is worth. Comparing him to Polamalu or Reed doesn't do any good. Byrd's contract has to be based on what Byrd has done ON and OFF the field. -
Coach Doug to Da'Rick - That's not being a Buffalo Bill
ganesh replied to JoeF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Now we just need our own Eli Manning....Hoping EJ turns into a QB like Eli. -
No. He can sit until game 10 and then suit up so that he does become an UFA next year. Of course the Bills can tag him again. The idea behind such a hold out would be as to why the Bills would pay 5M and 8M to a player who will play only a portion of the games.

Or the Vets themselves are dysnfunctional and have not pulled up players like Stevie to not act stupid or selfish.
