  1. +1 and this is a big part of the failure for the past three years.
  2. And by a eerie coincidence we now has two of his college linemates playing for us (Williams and Manny)....
  3. Nelson himself quoted that the Bills probably did not tender him because of medical reasons with regards to his knee.
  4. They still need to wipe their mistakes by cutting Brad Smith and may be Ryan Lindell.
  5. For me it is all those losses....You win them and you could have had three superbowl championships......There...I got that off my chest
  6. At this time of the year, there is *smokescreens* everywhere. You simply cannot believe what comes out of GMs (except for Nix) mouth. Considering that both the Chiefs and Cardinals require a long term QB solution....Umm.. Why would you called Ben that!!.....You are sick. Ben was never convicted of anything and the guy is married now. Some people can't just let things go..
  7. What other positions...Another DB ? This team will continue to falter when it keeps ignoring the most important position.
  8. As Dibs (thanks for the input) posted, not even close.... Brees: 2004: 262-400-3159.....65.5%......27TD......7INT.....Y/A 7.9.....104.8QBR....11-4 win/loss......All-pro 2005: 323-500-3576.....64.6%......24TD....15INT.....Y/A 7.2.....89.2QBR.....9-7 win/loss Fitz: 2011: 353-569-3832....62%.......24TD.....23INT.....Y/A 6.7.....79.1QBR.....5-8 win/loss 2012: 306-505-3400....60.6%....24TD.....16INT.....Y/A 6.7.....83.3QBR.....6-10 win/loss Fitz had 23 INT as opposed to 7 by Brees....That is a Grand Canyon size difference between a good and bad QB.
  9. Let us not jump ahead and call Cousins as a Franchise QB after a few games in relief role !!!!! +1....Decent OC - Yes....Horrible HC - Yes...
  10. With an all-expense-paid Buffet!
  11. This!.....is what drives 50% of the folks on this board CRAZY!
  12. That Damn value chart is Outdated!!!
  13. And that is a *big* issue. Very rarely teams win without an elite QB (Dilfer). It is also very rare that teams don't win super bowl when they have elite QBs (Kelly and Marino). The success rate of winning a SB with an elite QB is pretty high. You need to draft for that elite QB. My main point is that there is no evidence to suggest that Nix valued the QB position (as you quote above), but was arm-twisted by circumstances to not draft one!
  14. I don't think any coaching staff will go with the mentality to tank the season or win a small # of games. I am sure Marrone is aiming to make the playoffs right from the word go.
  15. +1. We need to draft a QB high this year and give him a chance to succeed from day 1. If he sucks, then we draft another one high next year until you find your Franchise QB.,
  16. May be they draft a Wilson or Dyssert in Round 3.
  17. I agree with the premise, except that Hasselbeck is better than TJ. We could have signed Hasselbeck to a 5M contract and simply cut ties with TJ (Who is getting 4.5M with incentives).
  18. I don't think so, especially when players are paid after each game. Remember he had already earned the money for the 1st 6 games. Since Fitz was a vested Veteran, his salary at the starting of the year was guaranteed. Which simply means, the Bills pro-rate that salary over the first 6 games and then pay the new salary for the remainder 10 games. Of course this applies only for the salary. The bonus is always paid up front (While guaranteed, it also could be that the Bills may choose to break the Bonus into 12 monthly payments and pay through the year. It gives them more cash flexibility during the year).
  19. Buddy did not say that there will be two starters in every draft. He just said that this years draft has two starters....What I don't understand is his phrase "It is a fact". How does Buddy know that those two will be successful no matter what.
  20. But why would the Titans or any other team guarantee him a spot. I also don't think the Titans have told him that he will be competing with Locker for the starting gig. Why did they draft Dareus. Because he is good (sophomore slump not withstanding) Why did they re-sign Kyle Williams - Because he is a good DT Why did they re-up Stevie Johnson - Because he is a legitimate NFL Wide Receiver Why did they re-up Urbik - Because is a sound and reliable Right Guard Why did they sign Mario Williams to that huge contract - Because.....Ralph is *NOT* cheap!!! Why did they re-up Scott Chandler - Because he is a reliable threat at the TE position especially in the Red zone. Why did they draft Glenn - Because he is turning out to be an excellent LT and they did not give up that 2nd rd pick. For every failure, there is some good success by this front office. Their biggest problem has been in not *DRAFTING* a QB. Technically, Fitz got that 21M for playing 10 + 16 games....That amounts to 26M for two full seasons....That is 13M per year.
  21. The Bills offered him the same job, to back up a young QB and he refused. So what is the point.
  22. You don't really know if a QB will go on to have a 8-10 year career. There are too many things surrounding him that can change. Again, as many have chimed on this board, the fault with Nix is that he did not even attempt to draft one and give it a shot. He was more worried about protecting his investment in Fitz.
  23. All your pros/cons indicate Losman Version 2.0 (especially the inaccuracy part).
  24. I believe the round of compensation is also tied with the rounds at which the departed player was originally drafted. The higher they are drafted, the chance of getting a better pick (Since Mario was a 1st round pick, the Texans received the highest available 3rd round pick). The NFL does have some real complicated formula to arrive at this set of picks. And the Bills front office will still not know how to use it. They will use it on a tiny WR or a DB.
