Yes, going to a top 50 has been irrelevant. I could be exactly where I am today with a state school education. -

https://thehill.com/homenews/state-watch/326995-census-more-americans-have-college-degrees-than-ever-before More young Americans have college degrees now than at any other time in our history, so I'm not sure what you're talking about. The idea of college as mandatory is a relatively new concept and its being re-examined. It wasn't that long ago that you didn't need a degree to be successful. Now a college degree is the new high school diploma. Its not an achievement, its an expectation. Yet my generation was still sold the idea that you go to college and you're guaranteed a good job and the American Dream and all that *****. Get good grades, get into the best school you can, and it will all be worthwhile. "You'll have that $120k in debt paid off in no time with the amazing job you'll get with your shiny new degree, kid!" Problem is its not true and because the lofty idea of education as pure and noble the environment has not been suitable to have the necessary conversation about how the sausage actually gets made. A fair number of kids I graduated with found waiting tables at Applebee's was paying more than entry level jobs. Which brings us to this: https://www.forbes.com/sites/robertfarrington/2018/12/12/student-loan-bubble-wont-burst/#5f16d3ca6768 We're not doing kids any favors by allowing them to take out crippling debt because education cannot hurt. The simple fact is that if everyone in the world were college educated someone would still need to clean my toilet. Cleaning my toilet can be tough (I've got some real trick shot magic going on since I got back from Mexico) but you don't need much of an education to get that baby sparkling. Feed the homeless to the starving. Kill 2 birds with 1 stone. -

Adults who are still picky eaters have low IQs. Bumper stickers of any kind are for picky eaters. Leaving your shopping cart propped up on a curb or free to roam around a parking lot should be punishable by jail time. Walk it back to the corral you lazy f@#$s! Also, using a weight bench as a coffee table and doing exercises next to the bench should be punishable by hard jail time. Lying about your connecting flight leaving in 10 minutes to deplane faster, jumping up a boarding group, cutting in line, not re-racking your weights, and the myriad other things people do to game the system and save precious seconds doesn't make you clever. It makes you an #######. -

Here's a controversial opinion: "Serving" our country isn't some noble selfless act. For the vast majority of people in our military, enlisting was the best option available to them at the time. It was the option that guaranteed them a job, 3 square meals a day, and a place to live. For those playing the long game it even guarantees you funding to go back and get a college education after your term is up. Its an effective system which incentivizes enlistment while meeting our defense needs. Yes, there are some true believers who enlist due to family tradition or sense of duty but at the time of enlistment I'm betting they're the vast minority. Stories do have a funny way of changing through the years. In summary, I do not think the condition whereby military service represents the best option available to a person makes that individual: 1. Noble 2. A better American 3. A hero 4. More important to democracy than citizens who had better career options. -

Yes, because our best and brightest are currently in the Army and USMC. They'll perform adequately as long as someone is there telling them where, when, how, and who to vote for. -
Correct. Next time you're at the urinal take a minute to check out the wrist of the guy next to you and notice his watch.

Nobody actually likes the movie Lost in Translation but most are scared to admit it for fear of looking dumb so they join the herd and criticize the brave with "well, you probably didn't understand it!". -

Its a matter of return on investment. Generations of Americans have been raised under the idea that you "have to go" to college when there aren't enough jobs to justify the cost of education. Combined with the way education is financed through non-recourse lending its the perfect environment for higher education. Charge whatever you want (and they do as education prices have risen way beyond inflation for decades), see no decrease in demand (enrollment), and bear minimal risks when kids default on loans. Hello student loan bubble. -
Exactly. Does Kirby want to impress old dudes who have refined but understated taste in quality timepieces or vapid women who know that Rolex means you're hung like a pony? I know what my choice would be.
-
Buy a Rolex. They retain value famously. There are 20 year old oysters going for 90% retail on a new one. Its unbelievable. And like the old saying goes "Rolex...mo' sex.....Errybody get your roll on!" I believe it was Shakespeare.

I watched episodes 1 and 2 last night. I think its excellent so far. I am hooked. People forget that Season 1 had some SLOW parts. The overall atmosphere and mystery kept you engaged but there were some early episodes that I struggled through.

Lets work on not limp dicking the puck through the high slot when in your defensive zone and we can move on to shot selection once we have that one down. Pretty sure Marco said "hey Risto, hold my beer!" before one upping his teammate for worst turnover tonight. Beaulieu, Risto, and Scandella with major lapses. Add Dahlin to my list of guys who can't finish. That's twice in the last week he has fanned on open nets. May as well call him out since Sheary and E-Rod have both scored since I mentioned their names. Eichel is standing/coasting around too much. Stops and starts, Jack. Not wide looping circles. Skinner is always active. Active stick, pressuring the D, forcing turnovers. I would like to see WAY more of that from Eichel.

I guess the Bills have a very happy history too if you focus on pre AFL merger days and the could-have-been angle of on the Super Bowl years.
