I'd like to see Josh run less and be more judicious about when he does run. Running shouldn't be his first instinct; hopefully he accepts that it is ok to throw it away if nothing is there rather than put himself at risk of injury.

I believe Houston plays a 3-4, which would make Clowney an OLB. Watt has been injured the last few years and Mercilus has been a force. I'm not convinced Clowney is a game changer with little help.

Not surprising. I doubt Beane will want to over pay for someone who will never live up to the size of contract he will want. DE/edge is a need, but Clowney is probably not the answer.

I really do hope you are correct. Maybe they didn't have the guys up front last year to get to the QB, stop the run, and be more stout in the red zone. My concern stemmed from the fact that they didn't get consistent pressure on the QB (especially Flacco, Luck, and Rivers) and got trounced in the run game, though maybe a rookie Tremain Edmunds had something to do with that, and were toward the bottom of the league in the red zone. When McD took over the play calling in the Charger game, Rivers cooled down. McD did make a statement that QB pressure are important, so maybe Frazier prioritizes this; I hope so. My impression of Frazier is that today's offenses, especially the better ones such as NE, are beyond what he has the ability to stop. Maybe I'm wrong, but we shall see.

Maybe so, but he also needs to run it. Leslie Frazier does not excel in running the defense.

Your point about the front office + McD being on the same page and becoming an echo chamber is a good one. I understand about being comfortable with what you know, but there are 30 other teams to pick FA's from. I'm not saying they absolutely shouldn't poach good players from Carolina when it makes sense to do so, but my point is they need to go outside their comfort zone. Media/pundits/twitterverse have noticed this, I've seen jabs taken at the Bills FO for bringing any available ex-Panther to Buffalo.
