  1. I'd offer the Carolina Panthers under Ron Rivera. Two time COY. I think Rivera has been one of the top coaches in the game. He's shown to be able to adapt and deviate from "the" plan. His players always play hard. You don't see or hear about a lot of player or coach dissention. Outside injuries, the team is always competitive. I think he's been a great mentor for Cam Newton. I think Newton under a different coach would have been a hot mess as a player coming out of school.
  2. Presentation is 90% of the sale. Whoever dresses Howie Long knows what they are doing. He looks sharp. Color combinations are spot on. I wish that NFL coaches would be held to a higher dress code. The visors, the Marrone look, the BB just woke up from a nap look - all should go.
  3. I don't think it's anymore than the organization making a decison to build a great Las Vegas team at the expense of their remaining time in Oakland. They want high draft picks in their prime, along with cap space to generate the "buzz" in their new market. They want the seats filled. Not sure that gets done by transplanting the "ok" Raiders team there. They are essentially taking the Rams template and executing it for themselves. I understand the business rationale for the moves. What I loathe is the wholesale selling out of Oakland Raider fans yet again by the Davis family and the NFL.
  4. It's sad that most of the guys mentioned are dead. Macho Man just edges out Brutus Beefcake for me. I thought Macho Man was always a fun interview. Best Tag Team: Demolition. They were champs for a long time.
  5. It's ok. The Bills are still important but to me but I don't spend the nice fall Sundays watching games or plan my life around seeing the games. I probably enjoy this site more than the actual Bills game over the years - reading the vast array of different opinions, participating in discussion.
  6. Isn't "big nickel" his scheme? FWIW, the BN was a Fritz Shurmur invention. He passed it to Jim Johnson who didn't use it as much, but McDermott used it a lot in Carolina. "This likely means the Bills attempted to play more “big nickel” defense this week."
  7. He's either too beholden to "his" scheme or he's trying to outthink the room. Both are not good looks.
  8. Eh. They are B-C+ range. All good things you pointed out. However, for going on ad nauseum about "process" and "football guys", they lead a football team hasn't been competitive in over 50% of their games this year with wildly inconsistent effort, focus and plan.
  9. The Raiders organization is burning Raider Nation down to the ground. They are foresaking their loyal Oakland fanbase for their new fanbase in Las Vegas. It's sad to watch.
  10. It's a phenomena of the free agency era. Prior to free agency, coaches had to play the games with the players they had until they could draft better ones. More often than not, owners had to fit a coach to the players you had unless the team was nightmarishly terrible or you were ready for a dramatic change. It's why Bill Walsh was succeeded by WCO coaches, Ditka was succeeded by defense in Chicago etc.
  11. The helicopters have been seen throughout the series, starting back in the very first episode. It's a shame that he just casually threw that sweet HK MP5SD5 away.. Definetly picked that up off around a Navy base near Alexandria.
  12. My guess is A's are leaders, B's are workers. I think that's why she captured Rick and Negan. (Both A's)
  13. My biggest gripe about McDermott's two teams is the inconsistent motivation/desire/concentration by both his coaches and players. They come out flat a lot, especially on the road. The Packers and Colts games looked like a bunch of guys just out there collecting paychecks.
  14. The Saudis are really bad guys. IMHO, up there with the Iranians, Russians, Chinese. However, they are "our" bad guys in the Middle East much like Iraq was to us in the 80s. They do what the Israelis and Jordanians won't do. When somebody in Iran needs to go, we call Riyadh. That's why absolutely nothing will be done about this matter. We didn't do anything about Saud involvement in 9/11 and we don't care how many civilians they bomb in Yemen and Qatar.
  15. Oh, I don't think they will even make it to the US border.
  16. Won't end well for these folks. They won't enter the US and will probably have to march right back from wherever they came from.
  17. All good. Enjoy it. It's happened before in Buffalo. (October 11, 1998 against the same Colts.)
  18. https://news.avclub.com/ready-your-bubblegum-john-carpenter-says-they-live-seq-1829814082 Article sums up my thoughts well: "It’s hard not to be excited for either project, though perhaps we should be a bit more cautious, what with Hollywood’s proven inability to recreate the magic of Carpenter’s best flicks." The out of the box casting of Piper helped make this film special in retrospect.
  19. I remember him more for Office Space than Beavis and Butthead as time has gone on. Office Space was a gem. Funny, full of quotes you still here people drop today, memorable characters. I'm glad they never attempted a sequel.
  20. Mike Judge is an underappreciated talent.
  21. Isn't backup QB one of the best jobs to have in the NFL? He's making millions of dollars, doesn't take all those hits, can have a long career ala Derek Anderson.
  22. "It'll be different this time, they said..." Spoiler alert: London and/or Mexico City will give them the same heartburn.
  23. The only car chase that rivals this classic is the one in Ronin. If you haven't seen it, it's quite exceptional in technical execution. In some ways, the Ronin chase beats Bullitt for two reasons: 1. Considering the complexity of the scenes, zero CGI was used. Real cars, real drivers. 2. While Bullitt was largely shot on nearly empty roads in and around San Francisco, Ronin was shot in and around Paris, across different infrastructure (roads, streets, tunnels) with both traffic and pedestrians. That movie came out in 1998 and there hasn't been a single film since that's rivaled the car scenes.
  24. I don't think he and his unit coaches are on the same page tactically or strategically. You have a junior OC and veteran unit coaches and I can see communication problems there. You can have all the blue chip talent in the world but if you have a coach who is having a difficult time teaching the vision and design of the offense to your line, you'll have trouble on Sundays no matter who the personnel is on the field. Regardless of the outcome of the season, I expect the OC to remain and he will get to pick new OL and WR coaches for 2019.
  25. I think it stems from frustration - three of four losses were winnable games against "ok" teams. In two of the loses, parts of the team didn't show up at all. The Chargers are the only team so far that I don't think the Bills would beat even half the time in 10 chances. They look put together.
