Even if the Bills had cap, no. He's old, he'll get paid and he will stop playing. You're seeing hungry Chris Jones because he wants a long term contract.

Question for all would be doctors, for my mother.
dpberr replied to Mark Vader's topic in Off the Wall
Neurology happens to be my area of expertise in my "not a professional MD" Uncontrolled diabetes and/or uncontrolled blood pressure will create pain. Gabapentin's sole purpose is to eliminate the feeling of pain, but it does nothing to correct the root cause of the pain. I've never particularly cared for the medicine because it just masks pain. My advice: She is likely suffering from diabetic neuropathy or peripheral artery disease. Her doctors should be focused on controlling the blood sugar and blood pressure and that will bring relief. If she's overweight, losing weight will help and the new GLP-1 drugs like Ozempic, Wegovy and Zepbound have shown to have great effect on not just controlling blood sugar, but inflammation in the body as well. -
Allen, the Super Bowl "window," and the KC hurdle
dpberr replied to T.E.'s topic in The Stadium Wall
The defense is old, slow and plays zone. KC are master craftsmen at exploiting each of those things. Bills need to be skilled at man and zone, get younger and quicker. It can be done. -
The irony of the 1970s is that there was pretty substantial danger lurking out there. Lead paint. Please don't eat it. Seat belts? Air bags? Let's smoke in the mall. In the hospital. In our living room with the kids around. DDT kills mosquitos. And humans. Asbestos in schools Serial killers Kidnappers (Chowchilla) Airplane crashes - Before 9/11, the Tenerife disaster on March 27, 1977 had the largest loss of life, and the 1979 crash of AA 191 was the deadliest crash in the US.

Wrestling and NFL Football Players (McDermott 76-1 as a Wrestler)
dpberr replied to CaliBills's topic in The Stadium Wall
Gym class today isn't the wide world of sports menagerie that it once was. I had wrestling for several weeks in gym from 5th grade to senior year. The gym teacher did his best to pick a kid of similar weight and you'd go wrestle for a few minutes like gladiators surrounded by your classmates. I feel like some kids joined wrestling because of the exposure to it in gym class. I enjoyed gym class. Got to play dodgeball, basketball, football, baseball, tennis, field hockey, gymnastics, track, field, square dancing, archery, riflery and bowling all in one action packed year. You learned you were good at some things, terrible at others. -

I enjoyed his music. The music video for "Who's Your Daddy" is a national treasure. One of a kind truck and Tiffany Fallon everywhere.

Get excited... change is NOW with a youth wave!!!
dpberr replied to transplantbillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall
I'd love to see the Bills reduce their dependency on old vets. They get you through most of the season, but they don't show up in January so what's the point? I don't want to see Poyer, Floyd or Jones with 2 year contracts with starting roles. I'd prefer the Bills not sign them at all. They should get out of the Tre White business too. -
It's the control of ideas and controlled socialization with others. There's no longer room for the risky idea. Or the perhaps stupid idea. There's no longer many venues to share ideas in person. Next to no government or corporate overlords in the 1960s....then the 1970s it slowly ratchets. You get a little more control in the 1980s, little more in the 1990s. A slow ratchet that really took off after 9/11 and overheated with Covid. As you reflect on the present, the "idea" is heavily controlled by the government and corporations where every idea in products, news, entertainment, politics is deliberately there for your consumption. The idea *must* generate a profit or influence you in one way or another. They also prefer you not socializing - just sit in your house and get all of your entertainment and products sent to you. Whatever happened to: One hit wonders? Stupid music videos? Indie movies? Stupid cars like the Pontiac Aztek? Why hasn't Tastykake produced any new snack in 30 years? Where to socialize? Dance clubs, bowling alleys, roller skating, the mall - all dead. Local news is largely dead - it's mostly AP (heavily controlled) wire crap. There is no way ol' Tay Tay is as big of a star as she is today in any previous decade. She's the star she is today because corporate America has eliminated nearly all of the competition. She makes them a ton of money and in return, there's no indie star out there that has any potential to eclipse her. Corporate America needs a new Britney so they are force feeding Tate McRae out on the airwaves. The Cyber Truck IMO is a stupid idea, but it only exists because Elon Musk is throwing his F-You money at it. It is very unlikely the K-Car, Ford Taurus or the Dodge Minivan would be made today because both cars were "crazy" ideas in US car making circles at the time.

Happy for Ken Dorsey but he's got the mission impossible there. Watson will get fat and literally sit back and collect paychecks. He got paid, and that's all he cares about. He will give the Browns a September/October of games and then it is on to Operation Shutdown_2024. It wasn't Alex Van Pelt's fault that Watson is an oft-injured mediocre quarterback. That's the entire plan.

I was surprised to see this news. He looked fantastic for 76 years old. Besides Rocky, I remember him best in Predator and a very B movie - Action Jackson.

Parents permanently banned from all future events. Children of those parents involved banned for six months of events. Children of parents who started it - banned for a year. Until you start penalizing the kids for the actions of their parents, this stuff won't stop. You must break the bad behavior this way.

These young guys don't want to be the inaugural coach under a brand new owner in Washington or coaching in Pete Carroll's shadow as he's still in the building. Plus, I suspect they had difficulty in assembling a staff. There was likely no Wade Phillips- Sean Mcvay partnership that would make the owners feel better about their hire.

The only one I'd prioritize resigning is Ty Johnson. -

Playoff defense not just bad, next level awful
dpberr replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall
I don't think younger players on defense is necessarily a step back. I think the remodel needs to occur in the 2024 season so you have those younger players on the inexpensive contracts peaking for the first couple years in the new stadium. The Bills teams of stadium Years 1 and 2 have to be awesome. You don't want those years to be without legitimate Super Bowl potential. -
Playoff defense not just bad, next level awful
dpberr replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall
The Bills defense has good players, but no great ones. There's no Josh Allen there. It doesn't have a lot of quick players. It's older too. The age looms large because after 18+ games, the 30 year old body just doesn't have much left in the tank. When the season was shorter, vets had something left to give. If I were the Bills, I'd take my lumps this coming season and give rookies and 2nd year players starter minutes on defense and resist the temptation to give contracts to any FA who are 29+. That includes players like Rasul Douglas and Leonard Floyd. Older players will get you to the playoffs, but they aren't going to deliver those game changing moments come January. -
So will you be watching the Super Bowl this year or no?
dpberr replied to BillsPride12's topic in The Stadium Wall
I'll be bored watching it. Footballed out at this point, after months of watching games. Bored with the Chiefs and the Kelce experience. Tired of Tony Romo. Usher hasn't been relevant for over a decade. Five years from now, everyone will struggle remembering this game and who played in it. -
I like the hire. He will need to incorporate even more variety into his game plan next year.

IMO, if you want to be an NFL coordinator or coach, you need to spend your own money on the quality agent to represent you. As I've said many times over the years, Juan Castillo's agent belongs in the agent hall of fame. Whoever he or she is, they got that guy more jobs than he ever actually deserved. I think Todd Bowles hired the same person. 90% of the hires are because of pre-existing relationships. X knows Y, or worked with Z, or T vouches for... I don't feel bad for Thad Lewis. A good interview gets him that relationship. Perhaps a college calls up the Bills FO because they want to hire him as head coach. Or perhaps the Bills need a coach next year, and that interview impressed them.
