  1. I've contemplated the playoff picture for the Bills the last few weeks, really since the Miami first half. And honestly, I'm not just saying this but I'm not sure the Bye Week helps the Bills this year UNLESS there is an IR designation that could result in a return during that time OR there is a COVID issue that would give the Bills more time to get a key player back. But as for just football, this team seems to do much better by playing week in and week out. No, I'm not ignoring the rest the team gets or to heal and focus for two weeks, but it just seems this Bills team plays better when there's no rust or too much down time in between.
  2. Ben Albright, and I'm sure others, shared the video or at least some of a video on his Twitter feed. It was brutal. Disgusting to watch with an infant just a few feet away. A nightmare for that little child who will carry, deep in the recesses of his / her subconscious, the trauma from that day and probably others we just don't know about. The poor young woman subjected to this brutality is sad and a pathetic display of manhood and fatherhood. At some point the law and justice will meet Mr. Stacy, at which point we can only hope the woman and child are safe and his day in court results in a prison term. Prayers up to that woman and her child.
  3. I think the other things the Ravens-Dolphins game was to highlight that the Dolphins Defense was actually pretty decent. Their Offense is putrid, especially without Parker and W. Fuller, not to mention I don't believe in either Tua or Brissett. But the Defense is what caused the Bills the greatest challenge and then some timely throws and Josh Allen doing Josh Allen things, provided the scoring. I don't know what the next 9 games hold, and playoffs presuming we get there, but I think this is all necessary for the mental part of a true contender to handle and overcome. Bucs last year lost to the Saints in Week 8, 38-3, and turned it on for the rest of the season. I know the Bills can do that as well....but will they? Let's find out.
  4. I was not a Mayfield believer before the Draft and I've actually founds ways to dislike him more since then....although, most of my "dislike" before the Draft was football related, since then his personality has just rubbed me the wrong way. It's his arrogance and sense of entitlement that drive nuts when I've listened to him and to be fair, I stopped really listening after his Rookie year so maybe he's changed. Regardless, OBJ has his own arrogance and put that in the same room with Mayfield and it doesn't seem like a marriage made in heaven...
  5. Derrick Henry is absolute beast....but, the Bills' Defense is not what it was last year. Not just because they're performing better, because in general they're healthier than last year's game. Josh continues to evolve and the Titans' Defense struggles. That does NOT mean on any given Sunday / Monday a team can't be beaten. However, given how the game played out last year and the aforementioned improvements from last year to this one, I'll go with this: Bills 41 Titans 19 Edit: I hate to say this, but this is weather dependent. Really poor weather, and Bills win a close one.
  6. Regarding Feliciano, I'm not so sure...he has a dead cap hit of $1.5, and given his full salary is $5.25 and has been a starter for going on three years now, I think the Bills see his value as depth at the very least for another year. His last year dead cap is $750k and that make sense after a couple of their young guys get some maturity and development, but I can't see them simply cutting him IMO, given what he brings to the Offensive Line.
  7. I don't agree with OP's take and mainly because I don't think the focus is on scoring a bunch of points and trying to outlast the other team's Offense. I think the focus is on a better balance. Balance isn't necessarily 50/50 Run-Pass, but balance is in the efficacy of the running game in support of the obvious passing game based Offense Daboll runs. So, the numbers will look different than they did last year. For example, when Sal Capaccio shares his weekly updates of rankings by the Bills Offense and Defense, it can appear the Offense isn't quite producing because it so often has to do with yards, yards per play, etc. But the Defense is SOOOOO good that the Offense is often going a shorter distance and on fewer downs, so the T.O.P. might be down or the total yards might be less, but the efficiency shared between Offense-Defense-Special Teams brings a coalesced unit together that doesn't have huge numbers except when you consider the most important part of any team evaluation in sports: scoring. Highest scoring Offense with the lowest scoring Defense. I don't know if the Bills can sustain that kind of statistical domination over 17 games, but the fact we're just shy of 1/3 of the way through the season suggests, it's more than just a blip on the radar of this team's greatness.
  8. It's good to see his hard work generate some recognition...that said, it will be interesting to see how he responds and what his maturity looks like as a result of this recognition. If he stays humble and hungry (cliche but appropriate in this context) and keeps pushing himself to develop and get better, than this is fantastic. Fuel him to keep grinding, if not and it becomes an impediment to his early development, then that's an issue I trust the coaches to address. Regardless, the early returns on the young man for the team is terrific. Let's just keep it going! Go Bills!
  9. I have to say that I honestly hope the Bills don't make a trade. I realize anything is possible, but it's quite unlikely any NFL Front Office has another Bill O'Brien moment trading Nuke for a 2nd Rounder - that's a no brainer. Otherwise, the team chemistry is one of the reasons the Offense AND Defense is clicking. Also, let's remember Cody Ford is in his 3rd year and was in and out of the games last year due to injury, so he had his Rookie year in full. Sometimes, we just need to be patient and trust that McD, Beane and the coaches know how to view their team's ability to improve in certain positions and players. Keeping in mind he's only 24 years old and in his 3rd year - sounds similar to another player bantered about on this board....basically, let's not "Wyatt Teller" his career just yet... McDermott and Beane and all of their staffs have been impressive and I have total confidence in their decisions, but IMHO don't think they make a significant move without the aforementioned no brainer type of trade.
  10. For me, it will be interesting to see how the Bills Defense responds to the Titans because they're a very different team on Offense than the Chiefs - of course! - so with two very different teams in back-to-back weeks, I'll want to see the Defensive game plan. Last year Edmunds, Milano and Josh were all dealing with injuries and Feliciano had just come back from his pectoral IR stint. Henry is an absolute L-O-A-D between his height, weight, power and speed and focusing on that part of their Offense is obviously crucial to keeping that Offense in check. Much, much easier said than done to be accomplished for 60 minutes. For him, it's really about getting to him very quickly at the line of scrimmage and not allowing him to gain momentum which plays to his strengths. Additionally, with Brown and Julio as WRs, the Titans' receiving tandem is no slouch, but I do think Tannehill is subject to pressure if the DBs can cover those two talented WRs adequately. All in all, it's a very winnable game for the Bills but as always, the NFL is a "Any Given Sunday (or Monday Night)" type of league and there are some really talented players on Titans' Offense. Their Defense on the other hand is subject to some deficiencies and I think we've seen that over the last couple seasons.
  11. I have neither the brass ones to do it, nor the technical acumen, but someone should resurrect the Sean McDermott Hired as Bills HC thread from 2017 and see how those troves of information are living now....also, I remember some Brandon Beane slander when he traded Darby and Watkins....not to mention Cordy Glenn.
  12. I've said this for years, but many people don't realize that the very best TEs typically are Drafted in the middle rounds AND take 2-3 years to hit their potential. Historically, except for Tony Gonzalez and Rob Gronkowski, the best TEs are in the 3rd / 4th Rounds and it's year 3 when production really takes off. Kelce is another anomaly where his second year he produced and obviously hasn't stopped since then. However, we all need to remember that players take time to develop. Knox was a similar prospect in fitting a certain prototype the Bills like: very athletic with huge potential and a dominating love for the game and improvement. Knox was not used often at Ole Miss but his athleticism stood out and the Bills believed in their ability to coach him and his ability to be committed to getting better. Sometimes, as fans we're our own worst enemy...this Front Office and coaching staff have proven they can find talent and develop them. We just need to trust them and yes, the process.
  13. Agreed, and I apologize if it seemed as though I was insinuating that Cole was being disciplined. What I was trying to say is that in many, if not all, other industries or businesses employees (and that's what Cole is) face discipline or sanctions if their social media posts cause a detrimental perception of the business. I meant only to say that Cole's usage, social media presence, and his impact on the team as a whole are not necessarily related, but I've grown (been) tired of the "drama" or controversy surrounding this debate from really anyone, Cole's no different - it's just he plays for my favorite team in all of sports.
  14. I think Davis is still dealing with the injury sustained in the Steelers' game...as for Cole, I don't agree with his opinion but I respect his right to have one. That said, like any business, social media is a relevant topic in contemporary employment. I've known a number of people who've faced discipline and even termination when social media posts go awry. That's not to say I think what Cole's done is improper or has earned him any form of discipline, but the NFL is not "Mom and Pops Grocery" either. The NFL is a media driven league and when social media begins to paint a team or the league in a negative fashion, they have a right to address the areas the team or league perceive the impact of the social media presentation. In short, I'd say I respect Cole's opinion and he does have a "right" to say it, but he doesn't have a "right" to say it and expect things to stay the same. Team can move on, fans can disagree with his opinion and express their own, and the league can say the social media presentation is detrimental to its brand. All in all, I just wish he spoke his mind, expressed himself, and moved on or asked for a trade / release and put an end to the drama.
  15. Bills 30 Chiefs 24 CEH fumble for Bills to take ball with over 2:00 left and they run out the clock.
  16. The prosecutor to the Asian ladies at the "massage parlor" in Florida: "Your face is my case"....
  17. I was talking with a friend and originally I believed this would be a blow-out win for the Bills, but history tells me to be cautious...so, given KC and Tenn. on the horizon and the fact that I'm still holding my "Bills Trauma" for 20 years, I'll predict this to be a closer game than I first believed. Bills 27 Texans 20 Josh runs for a TD, throws for a TD and Singletary gets about 77 yards rushing with a TD; Moss has about 140 yards of total offense, but is kept out of the Endzone for game planning reasons. Josh throws an INT, Defense gets 3 sacks, one forced fumble and recovery and holds Texans ground game in check but Davis gets Cooks a TD and their TE a TD with the two field goals coming within the 30 for the Texans - a bend but don't break mentality in the 3rd quarter leads to the two field goals, one TD in the early 2nd quarter and one TD in the 4th quarter. It takes Bills' Defense to buckle down and hold the Texans, Bills get ball with ~3:00 minutes left and clock it out....weather plays a role, and I think Josh and some of the young players are still learning how to focus on the only game that matters: the one they're playing, but gut it out and win.
  18. Boy, between Mahomes' day in KC and another AFC Offensive Player of the Week notch on Josh Allen's belt - Nick Wright is gonna have a tough week.
  19. Edmunds, IMHO, is an example of a position or player where people want to see a HOF type of performance or All-Pro and demand that it happen every year. What we, as fans, often struggle with is the idea that in order to have a very good to great 'TEAM' is that you should have 2-3 incredible All-Pro players producing year in and year out, 3-4 very good Pro Bowl worthy players at different positions, and the rest complement each other to be either average to slightly above average *BUT* play well as a team. As we know, the All-Pro excellent producer usually must be your QB if the team is going to compete every year for a Super Bowl in the modern era of the NFL, and then adding in another one or two positions of similar caliber. For example, the Josh Allen, Diggs, Tre White All-Pro triumvirate and then Dawkins, Milano, T. Johnson, and a DE (Groot / Jerry / AJ, etc.) as the Pro-Bowl players in addition to the previous 3, with the rest of the team playing very, very good team football. But we get so hung up on demanding to see elite production at EVERY position, we forget that's just not how the NFL works. We can go back and look at Super Bowl rosters from previous years and this is typically what we'll observe, IMO. Edmunds is a good MLB, just not Ray Lewis / Luke Kuechly type of MLB but apparently, that's good with McD and Beane because that's how they run their Defense and team. I also agree with some of the other posters in this thread that we have to be careful what we wish for, and I do NOT wish for another turnstile of MLBs to come through Buffalo. Lastly, let's remember this very important stat, Edmunds is just 23 years old!! He's in his 4th year, but just 23! There is still room for another year or two for him to develop both physically and in understanding the game. Edmunds came into the NFL after declaring as a Junior and was still highly regarded as a LB going into the Draft. Edmunds was the second youngest player ever to be drafted in the NFL at 19 years old!! Just barely 19, but 19 years old!! That's insane. Let's keep that in mind as well. Regardless of where you stand in your opinion, thank you OP for this thread and as always, I appreciate the discourse.
  20. The simple answer is this: the Pats are in the same division, you always want them to lose - not to mention, it's the Pats. Brady is no longer in the same conference and anything else is sentimental....Bills don't have any time for that kind of concern. Focus on winning the division, and it helps when the rest of the division loses. End of story. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.
  21. Daboll commits to balance like in Miami but Josh starts to make incremental steps toward 2020 while Bills' Defense continues to show out: Bills 38 WFT 12 (1 tuddy and miss EP, two field goals)
  22. However, based on what I've read / heard, especially from Week 1 - Ford did an admirable job and has excelled in Run Blocking. I'm not suggesting the O-line can't improve, especially in certain areas, but from what I've read and seen, Ford and Morse have been quite strong during the first two weeks. The Cover 1 group love Morse. And honestly, except for seeing the game, I don't know enough about blocking patterns, technique, etc. to be a critic so I'm only passing on what I've observed personally via the game and from what other analysts have offered.
