  1. I don't know the mechanics or viability, but given Brown's size and that he's been much better in the run game, I wonder if he's more suited for a Guard position? Maybe moving him inside will help with his slow step and allow him to use his size to maul the guys in front of him rather than needing to peddle to the right to keep his man from getting around him. Just a thought...
  2. I disagree regarding White. He needs practice time to be able to get into some form of game shape, be able to be under the close supervision of coaches while they watch him work to assess his readiness and I have no doubt, being part of the team activities only helps the comradery and chemistry while also keeping him engaged in all of the "mental" work as well. If he is truly not able to return for the season, then I agree. But as much as I want a dome for the team, the Detroit turf is notorious for being an injury waiting to happen, so given Tre's injury it only makes sense. As for Edmunds, that's a real bummer because he has stepped up his game this year, IMHO, and the second half of the Vikings game only revealed further his relevance and importance to the Bills' Defense. Him being out against the two-headed monster of Chubb-Hunt, is less than ideal. But, next man up or get out of the way because the Bills need to find a way to win regardless - in a dome with this Offense, there should be no excuses for why the Offense can't post a hefty number on the Browns' Defense.
  3. I've said it in other places, the absence of a true slot WR is holding the Offense back. That and Josh seems off for an unknown reason, but the slot WR isn't cutting it and in a year when they need all of these complementary parts to hold their own because every team is coming for them...that's what it means when you're top dawg...you're the hunted. Not because you're weak, or ripe for the plucking, but because you're on top of that mountain and in the AFC, that's who the Bills have become - especially after beating KC a few weeks ago.
  4. I'd agree in general...they lacked the ability to finish close games last year and the year before, and they've been improving that this year - now, they need to learn how to win when it all seems to be "off"...how struggle and fight through it to get the "W" in the midst of all of that...as for the *Pats reference, it's a valid and salient one. How many times did the Bills lose to the Pats despite Brady getting pressured and throwing it away, or their running game being "juuuuust enough" but fumbles or their receivers dropping balls or falling down, etc.? There were a number of them when the individual pieces looked like they were falling apart but the whole was good enough, and gritty enough to overcome and hit a late FG or get a late stop to secure the win....Bills need that too if they're going to be better than just "good", which they have been for the last three years.
  5. Baker Mayfield - arrogant douche, entitled brat Myles Garrett - dirty, violent player (hits Rudolph on head with helmet after the game is over) Gronk - Tre White hit, nuff said Tyreek Hill - off-field violent issues Any player guilty of domestic violence or assault....any dirty player trying to hurt players on the field not for playing tough but for injury's sake....any arrogant m-fer that just thinks he's God's gift to the sport, insert J. Alexander into this category... I like my players the way I'd like to see people: humble, hard-working, cares about others, and team player that puts team above themselves. In other words, most if not all of these Buffalo Bills.
  6. The only trades I'm truly interested in: 1. Safety - Hyde out and Poyer dealing with injuries...the year is too important to leave that to chance 2. Depth OL 3. Depth SLWR 4. Depth RB - not starting material necessarily, just someone that provides a good balance to Cook if Motor is injured. That's it and really only Safety is standing out a red flag alert. Everything else is just - gravy.
  7. Personally, I'd think that he was a poor driver and worry that he would hurt himself or someone else at some point. If he was weaving in and out of traffic like he was intoxicated or inebriated in some way, then I judge his character and would be disappointed. Otherwise, I think he's young and foolish and hope he gets it out of his system without injury to himself or others and simply go about my day. As others have stated, many people these days are bad drivers or inconsiderate of other people on the road...I don't think it makes them bad people, but poor drivers and at times reckless.
  8. That is very premature IMHO....the Packers have an underrated Defense this year and Aaron Rodgers is still Aaron Rodgers. This game is not a guaranteed win - no week in the NFL is - but especially this game. I'm hopeful, that's as a far as I'm willing to stand out on that limb.
  9. So, in other words, more appropriate for a team like...the Browns?
  10. I think with the right cost associated, I would agree. Actually in the CMC thread it was one of the suggestions I made. Gibson is a good RB...he's not Adrian Peterson or Barry Sanders, but he is a good RB and in the right offense with the right support, he can be an integral piece of the puzzle. People look at RB numbers and forget that it takes blocking, scheme fit, and a passing game so the Defense doesn't put 6 or more guys in the box to be productive. Washington hasn't had a legit passing offense in so many years. If the Bills could land him for a 5th or 6th and Moss - you pull the trigger. He's different than any other back and could be the balance to Cook down the road when Cook is basically the starting RB. Gibson is definitely valuable to the Bills or any team that doesn't rely on the RB to *be* the Offense for the team.
  11. CMC is a 5th Round for me...nothing else. If it's Moore and CMC then Moss and a 4th is fine...but, we have WRs for the long-term. We need a rental WR for depth, a rental Safety for depth due to Hyde, and then an upgrade at RB - not a long term solution at RB because I think Cook is the man for the future. IMHO, we don't spend capital on a RB who is on the down slope of his career at a position that is quite replaceable and shouldn't require significant cost.
  12. Billznut: see Bleeding Bills Blue for my response and that's why prefaced it with, I don't think Beane is making a trade for CMC at a substantial cost because that just isn't what he does...I went on to say that if we look at his history he's only done that with Diggs when Diggs is in his prime, for a contract already done and has a clean injury history. As I said, the ONLY RB that has that resume is Taylor from Indy. And, given what the Colts are doing, I don't think that's a name the Colts even think about, but....their Offense is putrid and *maybe* the Colts think Moss and a 1st for Taylor because clearly they'll need a QB for the future. But since that's highly unlikely I believe IF Beane is going in a RB direction for a trade, it's somebody like Jacobs who is on the last year of his contract, still young and healthy and would complement Cook regarding style and probably doesn't go for anything higher than a 3rd anyways due to the aforementioned contract issue.
  13. However, if we're talking about trades the Bills *should* make, then a Safety AND a RB should be part of the discussion. For the record, I'm fine with CMC - but at a significantly discounted price because IMO Cook is the future for this RB team and CMC is basically a rental. I'd prefer the team try someone like Jacobs who's on his final year of the contract, mid-20s and still has a lot to offer and would be a nice complement to Cook for the future.
  14. I doubt it's a RB, but IF that were to happen the only time Beane has traded a 1st for a skill position was Diggs. The contract was done, Diggs was a proven commodity AND he was young with no injury history. In other words, a clean history with youth on his side but production in the NFL. Honestly, there are just one or two RBs that fit this mold in general, but not sure about the contract piece: 1. Jonathon Taylor (not happening, but they look bad on Offense and might want a WR with Moss or Singletary) That's the list, for a 1st. Other considerations but IMHO don't come close to a 1st, but *could* be considerations if Beane wants a RB: 1. Antonio Gibson 2. Josh Jacobs 3. Barkley Everyone else is either too close to the magical cut off line of 30, too expensive, or their team isn't trading them because they're too important to their Offense, i.e. Chubb
  15. Or, Allen's Tea Bags.... "Allen's Tea, for all the moments you savor without the bitter disappointment"
  16. I don't think Beane et. al. are in the business of providing extensions with significant money attached simply to boost morale. They are didactic in their process to build and maintain culture, but not at the expense of the Cap hell Beane had to live with and pull out of the second year he was the GM. I believe they value their players, and you can see that in all of the contracts given to their Drafted players, but they limit the amount of restrictions they place on themselves so they can continue to be nimble enough to respond to unforeseen circumstances, to the best of their ability. JMO...
  17. It's a tragic reminder of the fragility of our lives and how embracing the people we love in spirit and in body, is so important. I will send a prayer for Dawson and his family for solace and strength during his time of bereavement.
  18. Pffft, slackers....season over, football over....why God, why??? (just because there *will* be somebody....this is sarcasm)
  19. McDermott is the best coach this franchise has seen since Levy, and his winning seasons prove it. Beane has done an amazing job of turning the roster over and generating real depth at every position but McDermott owns the wins and losses. To that end, I can't imagine a scenario where McDermott is so bad that he works himself out of a job at the Buffalo Bills. That's not to say that he will / won't win enough games to make the playoffs, let alone win the Super Bowl. But, when I think of McDermott I'm reminded of his mentor, Andy Reid. Reid was essentially run out of Philly only to build KC from the ground up and help build that team into what it is today, just a few years removed from a Super Bowl title. Philly has gone on to win a Super Bowl, only years after Reid left and was a bit of a unique year, as shown by the years before and certainly after their title. Reid has been consistent. Many younger fans forget how abysmal it was to watch the Bills and basically expect to lose. Winning week after week and making the playoffs year after year, is amazing. Everybody wants the title. But in terms of being fun to watch, to sincerely believe there isn't a single team that is just "better" but that every team in the league is legitimately either ONLY as good as the Bills or worse, is the kind of joy we haven't seen in these Bills for 30+ years. So, I'll take McDermott for the foreseeable future, unless or until he shows me that he can't produce a consistent winning team for a couple years. Because I just know even great teams have bad years and I've witnessed the outcome of youthful frustration that lead to decades of poor play and miserable football. I also truly believe McDermott has both the drive and the system to make things successful and it's just a matter of time, especially with Brandon Beane and his team putting the players in McDermott's pocket.
  20. It takes an elite QB contract to be able to afford 40 wings these days....but, good for him!! Allen's Wings....just call them that!
  21. I don't know about the Thanksgiving game, but the idea of Miami opening in Buffalo Week 1 doesn't seem to follow the NFL trend since the NFL released the Bills at home against the Titans in Week 2. Usually, the NFL alternates the first two weeks between road and home games. So in my mind, with the NFL releasing the Bills' game at home in Week 2, it means the Bills are on the road in Week 1. But, that's just my opinion.
  22. Not based on 'value' or 'need', but simply based on the fact it's been so long since the Bills Drafted, developed, and used a RB that produced terrific results, I LOVE this pick for the Bills. To get a RB of Cook's caliber AND be able to pick Elam in the 1st so that the team can build deeper CB play, was incredible IMHO. Cook will be a very important part of the Offense in the years to come, in my mind. I don't think he's 'the one' out of the gate, but I think they utilize him in specific situations with the intent to increase his role as the season goes on...love this guy!
  23. Based on value, this is my favorite pick from the weekend. Second, based on abysmal performance last year and value again, Araiza. People often forget that Diggs was a 5th Round pick and just assume great WRs are taken in the first round when so often, that's just not the case. Antonio Brown, head-case issues aside, was a 6th Round pick. Great value and future production can, and often is, be found in the mid to late portions of the Draft. I have a feeling, like Gabe Davis in the 4th, this will be a fan favorite pick in three years.
  24. I think Beane stays put because finding a trade partner to move up for teams that need help in a year when QB is the strongest can be difficult unless you give up significant assets. Also, while it could be a RB - the CB pool is deep and 25 is a good spot for that position in this Draft. Moreover, Beane will need a few players on Rookie salary contracts that can play after handing out the contracts this year, so while I do NOT think he wants a 9 player Draft because you only have so many roster spots, I DO think he wants 3 strong starters from the Draft that he doesn't have to consider for salary or contracts for 4-5 years. CB / LB / and believe it or not, probably Safety. RB, IMHO, is one that Beane sees as able to get complementary skill sets to either Motor or Moss in a middle round. We talk about Offensive Line on this board, but Saffold is a near guarantee at one spot, and that Morse is locked in on an extension with Dawkins on one end and 2nd year Brown on the other. With Ryan Bates in the likely Guard position, that means all the musical chairs for this year are taken. IMHO, Beane would be looking at O-line next Draft for early to mid-round unless Doyle really develops this year (completely possible). With all of that said, I just don't see the reason to trade up or back given where this team is....they need a good to great CB and probably another guy like a T. Johnson, a speedy RB, depth at LB and then another Safety development player. If I could post positions to come out just as I would prefer: 1. CB 2. LB 3. CB 4. RB (speed) 5. Punter
