  1. Kind of condescending for a guy that thought our receiving group was above average going into last year.
  2. To be fair, I think Whaley had little control over coaches and by proxy over the long term plan. He was just stocking the shelves. Typically the moves made sense in that context. we still have to see if the plan works. I suspect some 22 year olds from Texas that finally are realizing their dreams with a 6-7 figure salary may be less excited about sledding than you are
  3. I see nothing there that precludes is from it even slightly
  4. We weren’t a particularly good spot. In his rookie deal he dealt with how many coaches/schemes and who beside him at tackle?
  5. If there’s any way to get a star at an impactful position you have to go for it top 10. Getting a solid guy at a second tier position is definitely not ideal even if he plays well. The positive is we should have a shot at a great talent at one of those spots.
  6. If there’s one thing a blue collar buffalo fan wants from his skill position players - it’s always blocking. Im not so much calling you out here but I think we have some fans that would prefer a 30 catch 300 yard in line blocking TE over a WR that commands double teams every play but doesn’t always deliver punishing blocks in the run game. Whether talking about the greatest pass catchers or runners it always gets a chuckle how quick the debate turns to who the best blocker is.
  7. Yup. But to pretend Walter (who I don’t particularly like) was quoting 20 year old type numbers isn’t totally fair either. That’s all I was pointing out.
  8. To be fair, 3 years 4.5m total would make him around 40th on the average pay list. So a top ten backup. Probably not far off his actual ability. We paid him as average to slightly above average starter. A bit ambitious for the resume.
  9. Not hard- middle of the pack and added huge talent. Many of the teams above them appear to stand pat or maybe back slide. to project them as jumping from 8th in the AFC to 3-4 isn’t even that aggressive. Will they have chemistry and will their QB step up is fair to question but on paper it all makes sense. we were a little behind and probably added a little less so we won’t get the hype but maybe it’s our qb that balls out and we end up with magic chemistry. On paper, only middle of the pack currently though.
  10. They were essentially average and added a ton. Sorry even bills fans fans are struggling to support your rant.
  11. Id be real torn up about josh throwing a player like that the ball 10 times on Sunday....
  12. We go through this all the time. It’s not that complicated to structure contracts creatively to reduce cap hit early. Especially if your hall of fame qb is in his final year or two.
  13. Ironically, there’s a good bit of overlap between this new found “pay as you go” and the much maligned “cash to cap” in that you aren’t amortizing big bonuses to reduce cap hit and create space at the expense of flexibility to cut.
  14. I think the legit journalists do it but are usually way more measured in their wording when they do. Especially compared to random fan bloggers. I’ve often seen fans run with tweets where the phrasing is obvious that it’s more speculative than inside info. Ultimately, the whole culture around news creation and consumption is a bit of a hot mess on both sides.
  15. Michael Thomas probably had a case to be made too
  16. There are certainly plenty of those and ol chinstrap beard massare I think connects dots far more than shares secrets.
  17. Tis the life if you want insight into the process. It’s easy to stretch the truth to create more interesting stories but also easy for the truth to change quickly. It’s not always easy to differentiate.
  18. The flip side is.... solid stuff can fall apart. Sometimes there’s a trade very close to done and the rug gets pulled out from under it. Or the jets try to sign a free agent.
  19. Some but in a backfield with another prime option you’ve hedged it. and might extend both careers
  20. Good player. seems they are serious about no number 1 but a fair number of good pieces
  21. Ingram is sneaky good- if seriously considering bell, Ingram would deserve a real look too
  22. Looking at Carolina - they always had more good and by proxy expensive backs than most but it really would be a shocker to aim that high.
  23. I caught the extra posts with more details immediately on hitting submit and deleted. You are quick
  24. Center is considered a much less premium position
  25. I think espn did well in that review, generally.
