the Florio train of thought was: he has rights to sue for continued collusion nfl sets up workout that he can’t pass on or he’d look like he’s passing up opportunities at said workout spring a waiver of all future claims on him and if he refuses to sign you act like he’s being crazy and would be a cancer. ill keep saying IF here, but IF they didn’t just give him a standard workout document, I don’t blame CK for backing out the allegation is he didn’t get it til late in the process and the nfl gave him the final refusal of edits today I believe
-
Allegedly he was given a very broad ranging waiver releasing the nfl from any future claims of employment issues and not just the standard injury release
-
yea- though I do think the nfl is using it’s PR machine to pray on the folks that are eager to condemn CK I suspect he’s more the Steelers qb than the browns lineman, as culpability goes in today’s edition of the mess
-
big if here but if the reports from Florio are true- it’s largely the NFL that overstepped normal conventions here. seems fair the guy should’ve just been given a standard injury waiver That you’d see at a workout and not one absolving the nfl from any future employment claims.
-
At this point it seems the nfl was trying to get him to sign off on some bad legal documents to participate in this show that they put together and CK decided to go up the street and host an open event instead.

I’m also not sure the average fan is picking up the difference in their teams kicker going 20/25 vs 21/25 as much as it being luck of the games you saw or coverage on high light shows

only teams selling out preseason games are either 100% season tix (even dropping preseason teams will keep the package price the same) or running incredibly absurd specials and giving away tickets galore. And the money isn’t in ticket sales but tv rights. I venture NBC would spend more in these 2 games than 20 preseason games

Quincy Enunwa the latest Jet to put team on blast

maybe a little dramatic? dude skipped two mandatory appointments and got fined 1 days pay (if you split his annual income 365 ways). Do you think that’s unfair? they post their penalties. Not my favorite approach but we’re really at the did he drink baby’s blood to deserve that? if I ditched out of work unannounced a few times in a week I’d imagine my paycheck would be docked and HR might send out a reminder of policy email to the team. I’m not saying the jets were ideal here but Quincy stands out more to me. -
Id venture that while few are the over the top caricature of a racist, most people carry plenty of racial baggage/preconceptions etc... but weve got to create space where we can acknowledge being imperfect without dragging people through the mud for it. the flip side of the cancel culture striking any time someone steps on the line yet alone goes out of bounds is that suddenly no one can begin to admit any possible short comings

I was just teasing that he preferred the sanitized experience and food he described as not as good, as opposed to the better food, with a little bit of risk (and in his case a free bonus sandwich!). you’ll have to excuse me being a little rough around the edges- I’ve grown up in the mean streets of the Popeyes drive thru.

It’s a November work out. I don’t think it’s starter or nothing. What does he really have in common with AB?

im sorry that you are the way you are.

That’s absolutely not the same. he has a job where his work place has rights in the contract to be involved in his treatment. it’s like he was given alternate tasks to perform at work to accommodate for an injury and he decided he didn’t need to do those tasks or report that he wouldn’t be showing up. -
Steelers Browns: who should get suspended and how long?
NoSaint replied to Kelly the Dog's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don’t think other players see 6 games instead of 16 and think to themselves “oh shoot you mean I can start hitting guys with their own helmet?!?” I suspect rest of the season but would be fine with longer too though. -

This quote, while obviously not apples to apples talking about his multiple fines to start the season, isn’t going to play well with whoever has the decision: “If I’m going to go out there and make some plays," he said, "make a lot of plays and at the backend I might get an unnecessary roughness every three or four games, I don’t want to make it a habit, it’s not something I want to do, but if that’s what happens and I’m still making big plays consistently, I guess that’s my toll.” In other words, losing a little money isn’t going to change him. “I’m still going to play football the same way,” he said. -

the flip side that comes to mind is a guy like Gregg Williams publicly (at least publicly in their house) fining guys for a variety of arbitrary offenses he made up outside the CBA (but including being late or missing events) to fund his “bounties” across several teams. publicly taking money out of a guys pocket for not following the program is not unheard of. Again, not that greggs who I’m looking to for leadership but commenting on whether it’s unusual in this setting -

I mean, it’s insane in a standard workplace but I also don’t get pumped full of painkillers or have my boss curse at me as one might see in an nfl locker room. I’ve never had a Ritchie incognito at the desk next to me. and I’d say that it’s not the only locker room doing this it wouldn’t be my own leadership choice but I’m highly skeptical this is a Gase original idea from what we’ve heard through the years i enjoy he got Darryl Roberts spot blown up by not effectively covering his name on the list below his fine and also posted their home hotel info too though ? -

id expect that’s a standard rate. Or at least capped in amount allowed by the CBA. in perspective though, he’s banking about 10m this year and into his 16 weekly checks (without getting into the various bonus types) and then breaking it into 7 daily amounts per week he’s getting paid like 90k a day for the season. heck, he’s getting paid 27k a day if split across 365 days. So it’s at most like half a days pay he was fined for skipping treatment without telling the team in advance -

the penalties Suggested were ridiculous but most places of employment have some variety of social media policy. The Nfl is a different beast with the players individual interests being front page but for most of us you’d get tagged by your hr department if you put the company on blast freedom of speech is freedom from government limiting speech not your boss. -

I’d be curious to see more of where the split is behind the scenes. Obviously some unhappy with the front office and I find it hard that anyone’s super pro-Gase... But is there a contingent of players that are tired of tantrums over things like a fine for no showing work or freakouts about a GM accepting a call about a possible trade? Some have to be frustrated that the teams not playing well and guys are making immature distractions that make them all look bad and gets in the way of putting the best possible play on tape.
