What do you expect out of our offense game 1?
NoSaint replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
generally agree. i don’t think they go out wild or without control but I think they message that they can impose their will if they execute and give them plenty of opportunities to execute both power running and splash plays. though probably not a wider gap than that simply because Nfl games rarely get totally out of hand. Even the bad teams are decent. -
Only 2 Bills on current roster from 2016 or earlier...

https://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/football/article-in-the-younger-cheaper-nfl-even-super-bowl-champs-face-inevitable/ “An Associated Press analysis of Super Bowl champions over the past seven years revealed that title teams shed an average of 20.4 players off their 53-man rosters from the Super Bowl to Week 1 of the next season. That’s 38.5 percent.” -

I’d bet very few teams have more than 5-10 players from 2016 honestly. nfl rosters turn over a ton in 4 years -

Question: Is Moss pushing Devin to start?
NoSaint replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
yup. I think we are talking 60-40 splits any given week so the term “starter” may be overrated. -
DeAndre Hopkins contract extension

yup- weighing a trade can be a lot of factors. in this case the (albeit low) draft pick and what they could’ve spent the money on in free agency. Many fans weigh one or the other. hopkins vs a pick and a premiere free agent (or two good ones) here. -
DeAndre Hopkins contract extension

for sure. in this case, turning a 3 year into a 5 and giving a little raise just makes the new money look insane when in a vacuum as they are condensing 3 years of the raise plus 2 years of salary into the term “new money” hard to call that a 27m per year contract though -

His Arizona contract will be 5 years 94m -

to be fair, for Arizona it’s now a 5 year 94m deal so 17 vs 18 per. -
Adrian Peterson picked Lions over Chiefs

After week 1 means his salary is non guaranteed and he could be cut, also to be fair, I’d bet the money manager did pretty well for themselves -
I heard the day of the Houston loss was the last time he shaved and he plans on riding this straight through the undefeated 2020 season

clearly it’s not some magic bullet solely determinate force that cannot be overcome... but I don’t think it’s terribly controversial to say good situations lend themselves to good outcomes and good outcomes can connect through to a better situation to grow within. sure there’s always butt fumble who flopped even with a supporting cast buying him time or mahomes scoring at will in shootouts but generally surrounding a young qb with a great pieces, including talent on either side of the ball in the coaching staff and front office, is advantageous to him having the best chance to succeed.
-
your contention is long fields and trailing doesn’t put more stress on qbs? Yes, I think favorable situations are conducive to putting a young quarterback in better positions to succeed. The successes are bigger and the mistakes hurt less. Id also say having a good running game keeping you in solid down and distance situations is nice. playing within a system instead of having to play hero ball is great for development.

it’s an odd parallel to compare Drew Brees or time Brady in their prime to a rookie developing qb for how a guy can develop. Are you under the impression those guys had bad defenses, bad offensive lines, and massive coaching instability around them early? Drew is the only one on your list that wasn’t handed the keys to a pretty good team out of the gate.

I think a couple important things to keep in mind when framing it: neither guy was a slam dunk once in a generation prospect. Which means both guys could probably succeed in a great setting or flame out terribly in a bad setting. I don’t think allen saves anyone’s job year 1 so he’s likely getting shipped out if he goes to Arizona too. And I don’t think he’s a prospect that survives that either. personality - Yea allen is more likable. I’m not sure we look back at Rodgers, rivers, Ben, Brady etc... as particularly charming individuals.thats the better part of a generation of franchise qbs. even Russell Wilson’s had some questions about how he fits in with the guys. If you win, You win. I still think Rosen was a reasonable choice. I’m down to see where allen takes us.
