RD 2, Pick 54: DE AJ Epenesa, University of Iowa
NoSaint replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Some teams utilize more than 3 WRs these days. It wouldn’t have been unreasonable or a wasted pick. May as well say he’s our 4th DE. It’s a position where guys get lots of reps. -

Around these parts he will likely be a horrible Harry type. Likely solid player, easy to cheer for but likely not a game changer and his reputation will outpace his play a bit... that’s not to say he won’t be a solid addition. -

No he said he was disappointed that was the extent of the upside, not that he thought that’s what he actually will be -

if the thought is top qbs around 40m per within a year or so is a LT at 22 really an insane aberration for long? -
or a PR firm spent wildly to make him look relatable
-
im the same way on the height (or a variety of issues). Might start you in a hole but rarely are individual items hard line disqualifiers. that said, we have the best qb in the division this year even if I’m not 100% sold on josh long term. I’ll take that all day. We will see with the others but tua and Darnold don’t feel like hall of famers to me. As long as we don’t have another Brady for awhile I’m all good with it.

flip side of this conversation is can you picture him with a work ethic? he still would’ve been undersized and lacking arm talent the OP should’ve picked a different guy given johnnys SPECTACULAR flame out but even without that he was a real long shot
-
Right but the dudes point was that he looked better on the field because he had Evans as a star target. It’s a fair question about tua.
-
that, and his lack of talent. but comes with injuries instead. id rather take tua, but not scared of him in the division either
-
I remember saying this may go better for some than others and being told this isn’t like Linda on her zoom meeting. but it’s not THAT different really what about when two scouts are stumping and trying to share video or data for their guys - and then the GM and HC want to private sidebar on it and then loop in the OC. some teams will flow better than others

and you and are talking about him with the major gift of hindsight. Of course they hoped he could be the guy. But as a prototype body with extensive starting time that the plan was to develop him behind someone tells you quite a bit. Also that they traded back to get him says a lot. That they could’ve secured the top guy on their list at 8 and the first qb off the board but dropped to the teens says “we need a qb, we don’t love these QBs, but we have to take our best swing still“ That he we did little to support him is a problem. any qb taken, say, 4th through 90th is “let’s roll the dice on it but he’s probably some other teams backup in a few years”

This Years Draft: Can a Team Gain An Advantage Digitally?
NoSaint replied to TroutDog's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
again, I don’t think it’s substantial but do you feel more comfortable putting beane in charge of organizing this process than a buddy nix type? preferred platforms, contingencies on how to structure discussions, etc.. not saying it’s catastrophic but someone comfortable in the setting will also probably have more mental bandwidth to make decisions than someone that feels uncomfortable. in a league of parity, you might find some extra minor differentials dropping people in new settings. -

I’d assume having good processes and communication, contingency plans etc... in place will help detail oriented teams. Someone’s data goes down or something you don’t want to be scrambling on the clock to figure out what to do. Or if there’s some variety of disagreement how do you ensure everyone’s working off the same info or share new better info on the fly without being in the room. agreed. I’d think the bigger question is how adept they are at using it. Buddy nix may not excel in this format while a more tech savvy group could. -
SI Article: forget about sports this year

I think we are projecting a lot of the worst worries from being in the thick of it to a time months from now without accounting for reality being far below the worst worries even currently. would not be shocked if the nfl played but allowed refunds to at risk fans for instance -

4 years better than the 6 zeke got. And the dude takes less of a beating. Likely won’t live up to it but unlikely it’s a train wreck -

buuuuut gunner why does any of that matter in the commentary of whether or not his trainer is giving him good workouts yet alone his marketing person sharing silly workouts? is Carr not allowed to talk about any players? Seems a silly standard -

but how does that change that it’s a goofy drill to be running and that jameis may be in need of a change from his JV trainer as he’s on a bad trajectory and never had a rep of surrounding himself with winners. in the last few weeks we’ve seen him pushing a car and doing this. Would we be thrilled if these were are looks into joshs training? -
yea 12 mph would be 5 minute miles and he did 23mph for like 5 seconds

just cause he was honest in his take on what he thought happened doesn’t mean he’s not an idiot -
Ultimately, I’d say Hopkins was the deal I’d preferred and either of Diggs/cooks would make me happy (without having looked at cooks current contract) diggs and our 2 compared to cooks and a 1st both make our roster much better
