  1. odds are he just wasn’t an nfl qb, either way. I’m not sure it matters which route would’ve created the best qb if the end result is either the 150th or 160th best qb out there, right? (ignoring actual numbers and getting the concept)
  2. id have to ask why mariota at the top of the list??? bridgewaters fixing to get a 2 year 40m type of deal not a serious qb pay day
  3. probably one of the better FA/trade markets out there this year. I think Teddy B is a good option as a bridge. And think teddy would see the appeal.
  4. the pats simply trade a lot. Some up, some down. Up for Hightower, up for chandler jones, up for gronk even the trick is to find guys and get them where you can. They are the epitome of circling a name, figuring where he is on other boards and going up or down to get him instead of just heaving up a ton of shots
  5. I suspect BB will have a hard cutoff and move on from him instead of passing on other options hoping he returns
  6. Setting an expectation for success isn’t the same as saying what you expect the outcome to be. an important distinction. in year 4 of a rebuild and more particularly year 3 with a top qb pick - if you aren’t at least a contender either the qb, GM or HC should be feeling serious heat (obviously outside of special circumstances like catastrophic injuries hitting). This should be just about the easiest year of all of their careers and if they aren’t considered a top team in the conference something went wrong with talent, coaching or qb play.
  7. hate to see a guy that’s worked his whole life land in a spot like this literally weeks before the biggest day of his life
  8. We have a lot of depth. We need a few superstars.
  9. I don’t think it is the target, all grades equal, but if there is a home run threat at RB and WR/edge are depleted then I could say them doing it. i think those are 3 needs but easier to catch a dynamic back day 2
  10. depending on FA - we could see a very specific target even at high cost and he’d make a lot of sense. Major need, lots of familiarity, and genuinely could be 1-2 pieces away come the draft, assuming you think josh is the guy
  11. yes. Local knowledge. That’s what I too would be lacking.
  12. Got it- thought you were saying they wouldn’t get a pick like the franchise tag, not the effect on the comp pick formula
  13. but also takes him out of the comp pick formula on top of that. Given we are likely buyers in free agency that’s likely not a huge deal though.
  14. Who do you think the 10-15th LT are and do you think they don’t sometimes whiff?
  15. you lose the comp pick since you had control and chose to pass, I believe.
  16. Any free agent qb is risky or he’d be with his old team
  17. the more telling thing is the pay cut. He’s fine in his role but not great.
  18. and it’s: injury year essentially rookie year big jump very solid year so maybe he came on a few games late but I think it’s a unique case given his first season. Not a standard 3 year flop with a tiny spike right at the end did you think it was lack of motivation prior to this?
  19. Seems like a trap. I suspect Virgil is a serial something. I haven’t figured out what yet though.
  20. as would any list of picks after the end of round 3
  21. right but 2 tenths of a second is the difference between good and not viable often. Not a huge gap that implies he’s a tortoise, just that he’s likely not quick enough
  22. but the type of hole that they will have 5 options to fill it and even if they terribly overpay will still be 50% cheaper than the tag. so there’s no worry at all. if they had to fill the hole of losing a rare top 5 type player that’s a different discussion.
  23. good call, let’s do 15 games.
