  1. Rivers Luck Flacco in that order I'd say.........that's 40% of AFC teams that had some degree of stability(or in the Broncos case a brief run of dominance) at the position during those 19 seasons. I expect that % to be much higher over the next 20 years..........it's getting easier to play the position and the incoming talent level has been high in recent years and the salaries are making it worthwhile for players on the fence about baseball/football to choose football.
  2. Even if you are enamored with Brown and Beasley(and you shouldn't be, the Jets have the worst CB's in the NFL) they will be 30 and 31 next season. If Bob Foster doesn't get his game back then they are basically living season to season with their WR corps........which isn't ideal with a young QB.........you really want to build something there with somebody who could be a #1 for Allen for the next 5-7 years.
  3. A great WR..........one of the league's best young pass rushing DE's..........an explosive young TE with speed and quickness and 2 years of team control.......a few of the games best CB's...........they aren't all needs at the moment(injuries happen).........but if not top players at key, high impact, high dollar positions then what kind of midseason player are you looking for to take the team over the top?
  4. If a 3rd and a 5th is all that Clowney(and half of his salary paid) commanded for 16 games under contract I'd say that you are offering more than it will take. If the Bengals decide to move AJ Green the $6M-$7M of salary they can save by dealing him will likely be more important to them than what they can realistically get back in trade.
  5. But leave it to @Binghamton Beast to spin this into "Unnamed Bills and Sabres players involved with victim of sex trafficking"
  6. But if Engram was out there the temptation to take DiMarco off the field would be too great! Can't risk it!
  7. It's good to know that a 3rd and 5th weren't the issue in acquiring a 26 year old huge impact edge player.
  8. Ultimately the reason that a second TE is the modern replacement to a FB "21 personnel" is because your passing game is definitely better off with the extra TE. Are you better off in the run game with a FB than an extra TE? Not in most circumstances.
  9. Then what's your response to dave shooting down your ignorant hypothesis about Gilbride and TE usage? 1. You didn't know the Bills weren't running the run and shoot in 2003........which is absurd. 2. You were obviously just angry that I pointed out the similarity of that 21 personnel heavy team and what we saw Sunday so you just made up some sh*t to argue with me. There it is.
  10. I dunno..........if you go in that GDT you see a lotta' quitters. Thinking that wouldn't fly on the field. Fans and players are different animals...........players live in the moment and fans are always worried about what everything means in the big picture.........even in the second quarter of game 1 down 6-0. Ultimately a team that matches any fanbase is one that WINS. Those early 90's Bills were the antithesis of Buffalo blue collar........they showed up some weeks, some weeks not.......they were constantly angling for and getting contract re-negotiations and they choked in the Super Bowl. Yet that is the team that Buffalo fans most identify with. Because they won A LOT. We created a narrative of their resilience but they were just hands down the most talented team in the AFC in that stretch so they really were just taking care of business. Sure fans love lunch pail players who are winning on cheap contracts........but that never lasts and lunch pail losers have a short life span.
  11. On second thought he probably won't be traded after Greggo takes over as HC in a few weeks.
  12. The minor dilemma is that your rookie second round pick might not be able to match performance of two 1-2 year reserve patches on the right side this season. He needs the snaps but he might have to be given them rather than earning them.........which runs contrary to their competition model.
  13. I'm thinking Robby Anderson might be finishing his walk year in a different city.
  14. And Mark Campbell did PLENTY of blocking for Buffalo in 2003. He was EXTENSIVELY used. Again......they played base 21 personnel.........NOT the "run and shoot". You can't declare that they ran the R&S and then come back from that and then try to be like "you are missing the point it's about the TE's". Turnovers are almost always the result of poor execution. Allen also threw another interception that was called back for something that happened away from the play and he threw another one that was dropped and a few others that were pretty dangerous. It was UGLY for 3 quarters. Then Moseley went out and they changed their plan of attack and went easily thru a Jets D that was suddenly bad at BOTH CB and LB.
  15. My guess is despite struggling and to our displeasure Ford will be back out at RT Sunday because as you said they want to develop him........and now they have a minor dilemma because Ford really shouldn't be getting the start over Feliciano if he continues to struggle at RT and Nsekhe needs to play.
  16. Again........you said that Gilbride was operating the run and shoot in Buffalo in 2003. Utter stupidity. You clearly had no idea or recollection and just wanted to argue with me. If you watched that 2003 season and you saw DiMarco being split out wide over and over and didn't see Sam Gash then you didn't see it or have an awful memory. It became perhaps the defining characteristic of Gilbride in Buffalo. You are hung up on this TE thing........the Bills completed 3 passes to the TE for 36 yards on Sunday.........it was by no means a clinic on TE usage.
  17. I could never understand it but I also watched Watkins play at Clemson and knew he was a true gamer. His 16 catch 224 yard performance on a bad knee in the 40-35 win against Ohio State in the Orange Bowl in 2014 was epic. He didn't need to play in that game. Many players sit out that game.......definitely if hurt. And IMO that game was a big boost to the Clemson program which was always kinda' known for having lot's of talent and no guts. I think some Bills fans who didn't know him assumed this guy was a soft, diva WR and labeled him so when things went wrong they could trash him.
  18. Unless Nsekhe is really hurting I can't see how they came to the conclusion that Ford should be starting at RT. Together they had some nice moments in preseason and this looked like a no-brainer decision. I get not wanting to expose Nsekhe because he's the only real option at LT if Dawkins got hurt..........but you can't sit the better tackle.
  19. Yeah being lunchpail gets you a lot of paid vacation with a certain portion of the fanbase.
  20. You literally called the 2003 Bills offense we are discussing the "run and shoot". I've seen some dumb things said on this board but that might take the cake. Again.......they went out and got Mark Campbell and Sam Gash to play 21 personnel as their primary and they ran a lot of stuff that looked like what we saw yesterday. And by midseason fans were madder than Buddy Ryan when Gilbride WAS running the R&S.
  21. Yep......if they score a lot of points defenses will adjust to what they are doing. 17 points ain't many..........that's not gonna do it. They averaged 17 last year and finished with a -105 point differential.
  22. 2003 Bills offense was run and shoot? Idiotic comment on your part. They went out and got Mark Campbell and Sam Gash to try to create a balanced attack that they could use just like people here are describing.........21 personnel. When Gilbride was OC of the Giants did he also operate a "run and shoot"?
  23. True I forgot about Jerome. It wasn't fundamentally integral to his system success and it won't be a key to a good running game here now either. I'm okay with them employing a fullback sometimes but if Josh Allen plays well he will start to dictate terms and I expect he will want an actual matchup winner.
