  1. First.......learn to write better. You literally said "this is a historic offense we are seeing" which is to imply that is also relative beyond the scope of just the franchise. It's not. Forget the Packers or Chiefs...........the Titans are going to easily surpass 458 points this year...........even the friggin' Colts might! And btw.......if you think you are some kind of team historian........think again! The highest scoring offense in Bills franchise history were the 1975 Bills who averaged 30 points per game..........which projects out to 480 over 16 games.......not 458.......so the bar is a little higher than you think if you are talking "Bills franchise history".
  2. Gilmore injured as well too. Hopefully they are able to get the passing game going against NE this time and earn that first decisive victory over Belichick.
  3. As someone who has been tailgating for every game all season............and an epic tailgate season indeed..........I would concur that it would be safer to just allow some kind of organized outdoor tailgating at the stadium. If you can go to stores..........or WORK at stores.......and go to restaurants and eat inside without masks (obviously)...........I just don't see how being outdoors in groups of 10 or less are even close to the same risk level.
  4. Yeah @Inigo Montoya kept using that running game argument..........I don't think he knows the difference between not having a running game in 1990-1991(catastrophic) versus what it means to not have a running game today(not a lot if you can sling it).
  5. Nah you just got caught up in recency bias. That early 90's team cut both ways..........they were exciting and had a roster advantage that isn't reasonable to ever replicate in the free agency era..........but they were poorly coached on defense, their HC couldn't and didn't run a tight ship like McD, and they were certainly not humble and not focused. This team is a ton of fun to watch but IMO what makes them potentially special are all of those less tangible traits that they DON'T have in common with the early 90's team.
  6. It's been discussed a few times here over the years.........mainly every time he handles the football. He has brought up his RB past with the media many times and has said he has lobbied the coaching staffs for RB carries over the years. He is a prime example of what I've said here so many times...........a lot of the guys who would have been RB's in the NFL of old switched to better paying positions. It was the right move for Hughes....he has made more money with a long career as a modestly accomplished pass rusher than he probably would have made if he had become even a stud RB.
  7. Thurman Thomas was in the midst of leading the NFL in yards from scrimmage 4 straight seasons. He was A LOT better........any way you cut it.........relative to his peers or even just number for number despite the inflated stats of today.........than "#19 in receptions for RB's" Devin Singletary or Zach Moss. Protest all you want. 4 HOF'ers in the passing game.........pro bowlers all over the offensive line..........a passing game with NO weaknesses in an era before free agency when there was a lot more roster imbalance around the league. I'm loving this team but trying to say this current team has more passing game talent is to deny not only the individual greatness of those HOF'ers but also the fact that they were outstanding at all levels of the passing game.......WR's......RB's......TE's. If you want to see how the screen game is executed........go back and watch the 1992 AFC Championship in Miami where the Bills just ran screen after screen after screen and the opponent couldn't stop it even when they knew it was coming.
  8. Meh. The NFL record is 606 points in a season set by Denver in 2013. The forgettable Ravens scored 531 points last year. Historic in the same way that winning the AFC East was......but not even remotely in a league-wide scope.
  9. Yes as I said the Bills are NOT averaging 30+ points per game and they came into the game just 10th in the NFL in scoring. Yeah speaking of running backs.....the current Bills backs are probably the worst receiving RB group in the NFL......there is zero screen game and forget throwing downfield to them. Thurman Thomas was the premier receiving back in the NFL..........an NFL MVP. That's one of like 50 points of comparison that just don't match up AT ALL or make it extremely difficult to compare era's. Guys like Reed and Lofton finished their NFL careers in the top 2 in both career catches and yardage when they hung them up..............I hate to break it to you but none of the Bills receivers are going to finish their careers that high on NFL lists. Bottom line.......this offense is very fun to watch but there aren't going to be 4 passing game Hall of Famers from this bunch like there were on the 1990-1991 Bills. Nope. What's important is that the current Bills are excellent at a style of offense that can win big in today's NFL.
  10. To me it was listening to a Broncos beat guy in the pregame talking up their #1-in-NFL red zone defense.............and the Bills immediately marching down the field and hanging 6 on them in the red zone. After that it felt like the Bills were going to have their way with them all day.......and they did.
  11. The Dolphins, Raiders and Seahawks games are the three highest YPC games of the season for Diggs and it's no coincidence that Brown was opposite him in those games. Diggs can run his short routes deeper when the defense has to be aware of the possibility of Brown getting over the top. Diggs has become more of a focal point with Brown out so he's been getting fed more but so many of those passes are in front of the sticks now.
  12. Mahomes is the best. Allen may be #2. But Rodgers........as good as he is.........is not mobile. He left about 5-6 plays on the field today that Mahomes and Allen make.
  13. As talented and successful as the early 90's Bills were..........they were also not consistent in effort week to week. The tail wagged the dog on that team and they would have weeks where they just seemed to be looking ahead or unfocused........so it wouldn't surprise me if they didn't have a consistent run of leading games like that. They have been focused/methodical this year......a one-week-at-a-time team.
  14. They aren't scoring 30+ points per game. They came into this week 10th in the NFL in scoring. They are absolutely the best passing offense the Bills have had since the NFL basically disallowed the hitting of QB's and WR's in 2010 but offensively they don't yet stack up against their peers the way the 1990 Bills did.
  15. Yeah the Bills current offense is playing excellent football but they came in to the game in Denver as just the 10th leading scoring team in the NFL. The early 90-91 teams finished in the top 2 in the NFL in scoring and yards per play in those years...........they were amazing and they were at least the equal at WR and so much better at receiving RB and TE.
  16. They just went 3-1 with their backup QB and they are the #2 seed in the NFC.
  17. Having watched all of the other sports during the pandemic it seems like every team has that guy or 2 that really didn't prepare themselves enough during lockdown. I suspect Ford was that guy for the Bills. He wasn't good last season but he was awful this year. He wasn't worthy of his top of round 2 draft status but he's better than he showed this year.
  18. For the most part the refrain before the season was that they will go as far as Allen can take them. So I don't think it's a crazy shock that Allen has been excellent. I think the manner he has been excellent..........short to intermediate accuracy improves and not running nearly as much and still not fixing the deep ball issues.......is surprising. But it was feasible for him to be excellent. The defense was supposed to be "top 5" and Diggs was supposed to be a revelation at WR. And more importantly we were told back in the struggles of 2018 that year 3.....2019........was supposed to be the year all along............and it almost was but they still went 0-2 vs. the Pats and stumbled down the stretch and came unglued in the playoff game. 4 years into a regime we shouldn't be the least bit surprised to be a SB contender.
  19. Judging from your self description as a "drought survivor" my question might have been a bit too on point. No, I will not be crying. As I've said before, the journey is the reward. But I guarantee there will be a bunch of folks on here who will say they will.........that also for years made excuses to me here as to why it was justifiable to stop showing up for Bills games after Thanksgiving. After a couple of decades of sitting in the stands at the end of so many Bills seasons with only like 10,000 others........for playoff-meaningless games where the team couldn't have PAID people to show up........I find it a bit hard to believe that there are quite this many tortured souls. There is a little emotional tourism going on...........that's fine, no real harm, it's just a game..........but it was amusing watching all the bandwagon sufferers when the Bills finally made the playoffs in 2017 and it should be amusing watching the social media reactions if they win the division tomorrow.🤞
  20. I think the question is how would winning a SB change your fandom going forward? The woeful Bulldog on WGR basically said something I thought may be true for some Bills fans............he was a passionate Red Sox fan.........spending a bunch of money following them...... until they won a World Series and now he cares a lot less. He fits the profile of a lot of folks here.........he wasn't that interested in the Bills or Sabres until he moved away..........and then after living elsewhere for a while he became an avid fan of all things Buffalo because he felt like he needed that struggle as part of his identity.
  21. My bad. My point was that they didn't just plow thru them handing the ball off for 80 yards though. They had to pass their way out of a first and 20 to start with and had to use their QB as a runner to extend the drive. Long drives help shorten the game but they don't necessarily say a lot about the quality of the offense(obviously see 2017 Bills).........the Raiders had a 20 play drive tonight against LA Chargers and they then had a 14 play drive to start OT that burned thru almost 7 minutes of clock before the Chargers called a timeout on 3rd down. It was a good drive by the Bills but it's one of those cases where someone tried too hard to put it into a perspective that made it look like something astonishing. That Steeler defense is pretty beleaguered......especially the LB corps....... and as a whole they haven't been playing like a playoff team for many weeks. The Bills took care of business against a team that's really in a rut........not unlike the Bills were in that Tennesse/KC portion of the season.
  22. People with glasses like Pegs have faces that beg to be snowballed
  23. High ankle sprains are 4-6 week injuries typically and considering that he had other injuries to heal and that his game is built on speed and change of direction it was a pretty easy prediction to figure he'd be out the full 6 weeks(which is what the New England game will make it).
  24. The Bills had success on that last drive because they didn't limit themselves to running the ball. It wasn't just ground and pound........Allen dropped back to pass on 7 of the 12 plays prior to the two kneel downs. He ended up scrambling for yards a couple times and one of the drop backs resulted in a Morse holding call. It was an excellent display of offensive football but long drives are not new under McDermott they were critical in Jauron-balling their way thru the 2017 season. Among the many long drives was an 18 play drive against Atlanta and another 18 play drive against Jax in the wildcard game.
  25. That too but I was responding to your point about the tackles.
