I think Beltran never seeing the light of day as the Mets’ manager was an absolute blessing.
We’d be making the same exact mistake the Yankees did by hiring someone who’s never coached a little league team, let alone coach in any capacity in MLB.
The Randolph and Calloway debacles proved to me that NYC is not the place for a manager to cut his teeth.
As we’d discussed before, my preference would be Girardi. Or another proven, young(ish) manager.
I wouldn’t cross my arms and stomp my feet if Buck is retained. But I really do think we could do better.
Stearns has been preparing for this role since Cohen bought the team. I am convinced.
I am VERY excited about the future of the team.
I think if Showalter gets another season, that it would indicate that Stearns has his sights set on 2025, but the off-season will tell us more.
