"Darth Zayder" Jones performs Levitation in end zone
skibum replied to CanadianFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Looks like a bit of an optical illusion - If you watch his right leg closely, you can see that it's actually bent enough for him to be pushing off of it. The camera angle makes it look like the right leg is straighter than it really is. -
Wow, who would have thought a recent first-team all-pro could be so good at football.
-
This, plus they were driving those short distances against a D that had to run back out on the field with no time to rest or discuss and refine their game plan, again and again. With a veteran perennial Pro Bowl QB at the helm. INTs are much harder for a team to overcome than 3-and-outs with punts.

I have torn both of my ACLs and have found that weight bearing is not an issue unless you also wreck your articular cartilage and/or meniscus or stretch/damage other ligaments. The ACL gives stability in certain scenarios, but when it is torn there are still 3 major ligaments holding the femur and tibia together, plus the meniscus helping keep things aligned and articular cartilage providing cushioning between the bones. It's trauma to those other elements that would require bracing or non-weight bearing after an ACL tear - but that trauma is very common because of the force required to tear a ligament. I got lucky and I hope KB did too!

If you consider the Chargers scored 30 points off turnovers, then you'll see it's not a stretch at all. And of course the D was bad - they were on the field for the entire first half!

A clean ACL tear generally doesn't warrant crutches or a brace. There's a little swelling and occasional instability in certain situations, but walking and even running in a straight line (once the initial swelling goes down) feels pretty normal. Unless you tear a bunch of other stuff at the same time... The positive sign here, hopefully, is that the lack of crutches/brace means he probably doesn't have a lot of collateral damage to cartilage or other ligaments. If he tore the ACL, it was probably a clean one and he'll recover 100% with the kind of rehab he will have access to. Here's hoping it's not that, though!

Chargers preparing for both Tyrod and Peterman
skibum replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Peterman may be on a short leash. If he lays an egg, Tyrod will be right there, ready to go. -
A stronger arm equals a faster release. If you watch Fitzpatrick make a long throw or even a short dart, he has to rooster his arm back and wind up his whole body first. A guy like Stafford can throw a rope with a quick flick. There's not a lot of difference in speed and trajectory once the ball leaves their respective hands - it's what it takes to generate that velocity that really counts. Ha ha, I just noticed that my comment was corrected to say "rooster" instead of "c0ck"! No dirty intent, I was using it as a harmless verb!

Every Nate Peterman throw from the Saints game
skibum replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Very small sample size, but I think it's enough to give him a shot when you consider how bad Tyrod has been at throwing the football. I don't necessarily expect the outcome to be any better with Peterman over the course of a whole game, but I think we have seen enough to know that it's definitely not getting any better with Taylor. On the negative side, Peterman's throws seem to lack "zip" - I think he has a Fitzpatrick arm, maybe a tiny bit stronger. But the important thing is that he's willing and able to throw to WRs downfield, and quickly. -
Bills vs. Saints Postgame - Total Domination
skibum replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They were at home and had ten days between games, the last one being an embarrassing blowout - and they still laid an egg. I don't know how they recover from this one . -
ESPN: Predicting Every NFL Team's 2020 QB
skibum replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
How did this guy survive all the layoffs? -
Also, while it's still very early in the game, there are not a lot of guys drafted after Shaq that stand out as better picks. Obviously Dak Prescott would have been nice, but nobody saw that coming. When you look at the guys that a team would have reasonably drafted at 19, the Shaq pick holds up pretty well so far.

(5-3) x 2 = 10-6

I would agree that he threw very well last night, but I don't think he played very well on the whole. Usually it's more the other way around, and usually the Bills win when it's that way. Also, he was not the only one, so it's still hardly on Taylor. Let's hope they all bounce back after a long break and we can forget about all this!

O'Leary Fumble: Time to go to the College Rule?
skibum replied to The Frankish Reich's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes, lets instate a lame college rule because someone from our favorite football team fumbled in a blowout loss. Come on, everyone loves the "he didn't know he wasn't down" play - it adds a little random excitement into the mix. It's also fun when the defender thinks the ball carrier is down, so he gives up on the play and the dude takes off. It makes the game more interesting now and then, and it doesn't happen often enough to be a problem. The Bills had their pants down in so many situations last night. Let's not change the rules to aid and abet poor play. -
Did anyone else think the D was trying too hard to strip the ball instead of tackle the guy?
-
One would think they could flip the 6th rounder they just acquired in the Dareus trade for a decent backup RB.
-
Someone should start a thread about this.

I hope Marcel gets his head right one day. I really think he's a good dude who has been through more horrible stuff in his young life than most people experience in 80 years. On top of all the tragedy, he has the burden of living up to his talent, others' expectations, and Terry Pegula's money - money which I'm sure does little to ease his anxiety. I'm sure there are plenty of days he just doesn't want to get out of bed.

McDermott - Coach of the Year Candidate?
skibum replied to Foxx's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is all getting a little ridiculous. They're 5-2, folks - the season isn't even halfway done yet. We have seen this movie so many times before - can we please see where they're at in 5 more weeks before we anoint everyone? -
I saw that - I think if he doesn't get flagged, he's going to mess himself (or someone else) up badly. There was one play where he dove in late, head first with his entire spinal column just stacked up in a nice, neat line. Gave me the willies.

Can't stand watching games refereed by Hochuli. That guy wants to call a foul on every play.

Very flattering, and mostly true when talking about the fan base and geography. But the Pack has a legacy of greatness spanning decades, with multiple great eras, legendary QBs, and most of all championships. The Bills have been really good for about 20% of their history, and haven't won a title since the '60s, in a league that no longer exists.

Brandon Beane already top 3 worst GM's in bills history
skibum replied to Yeezus's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm with you - why even bother for such a low pick? Better to just keep him in the rotation through this season. He's been disappointing, but he's still a better DT than anyone on the team not named Kyle Williams. I would rather have his services now and straight up cut him in the off-season, than lose him for a likely-meaningless draft pick. -
Jordan Matthews Thumb Injury Update: Active vs. TB
skibum replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes, because the team needs more guys who have been concussed to the point of vomiting.
