  1. If he follows your thinking then he should be able to get the best player available at each of those positions of need...
  2. I hate the "how did that work out?" as if that's a universally applicable response. It doesn't mean anything. Bills made a mistake in that regard by not having done enough evaluation of OBJ. Its a separate matter. How did trading up for Patrick Mahomes work out for KC? We also moved up for Josh Allen. How's that working out so far?
  3. I totally agree with you. While I generically like the idea of trading back, I don't see the point w/o picking up more 2nds in a draft like this. We don't need to stock talent in lower rounds at this stage. We're not the Dolphins. If the value chart doesn't justify a 2nd with a trade-back partner then we should offer additional later round pick(s) to secure the higher pick from the other team. Otherwise, just pick at #9
  4. They've moved up for every 1st/2nd round pick in the last two years with the exception of the tradeback that landed T. White. So Allen, Edmunds, Z. Jones and Dawkins all came as a result of trading up
  5. ....also the proclivity of my QB
  6. That's a pretty optimistic take.... if that happens he would be the signing of the year!
  7. I would have liked to see him get another shot at training camp. We've previously kept 4 TEs and I thought he still had room to grow. Plus, I loved the play where he threw out of punt formation. Perfect place to use a guy like that.
  8. I'd like to see an effort to align more closely w/ the NFL. I think that Practice Squad players and 3rd string QBs under 25 should essentially be loaned out to AAF and let them get more experience and playing time. I think it would accelerate their development and create more opportunities for them back in the NFL.
  9. I like the idea of being able to pick up an additional 2nd depending on how far back we might move.
  10. As I recall up until 1-2 weeks before the draft (well after this trade), Darnold was assumed to be the #1 pick by the Browns. So I can't imagine they thought the Jets outmaneuvered them for Darnold.
  11. I think they're hoping for a bit worse than that
  12. Hopefully we don't have Miami on our schedule early in the season...
  13. Perfect summary! The hurdle earned the respect of his teammates early in the season and showed his competitive fire. The TD to Foster showed that he can make big league QB plays. And then the last game against Miami summarized a year of learning, growth and progress by putting together such a complete game; blowout victory, 65% completion rate, 3 TDs, nearly 100 yds running and 2 more TDs. Relevant progress at every stage #ready4year2!
  14. From your list the only one that hurts a bit is Isiah McKenzie. Also, Beane does seem to like moving up a bit to make sure he gets his target. They've done that multiple times in the past 2 years. I also have to believe that it would be tough have both Gore and Ivory both on the team with a 3rd stringer making over $2m. Finally, I would wonder whether it would be possible to cut Derek Anderson, hire him as a Offensive/QB Assistant of some sort and then just re-sign him if an injury calls for it?? Not sure how that last one would work
  15. I think it would be a tough place for him to go. They're clearly breaking it down and it will be hard for him to have good year. Then he'll have been on two crappy teams with poor results and the talk about him being a bust will gain lots of momentum.
  16. Foster is a good example for these guys. Both McCloud and Miller had plenty of issues last year. They've got to earn the respect through their play. Not sure if we would even resign Miller as a camp body at this point?
  17. I think Oliver is the only one of those who will be sitting there in those draft slots
  18. Could put all three of them out there and then have Josh Allen run QB draws and naked bootlegs
  19. Kind of reminds me of Derrick Dockery and Langston Walker
  20. I thought they weren't allowed to talk $$, just interest and parameters. This is pretty specific
  21. Isn't the OP suggesting a 4th down conversion?? You would have to go for it on 4th down and convert the 1st to get the point. I think that's what he's saying. That part of it is intriguing, but I'm wondering what would happen in OT? You wouldn't want a team to win through a 4th down conversion. Take initial KO, end up getting stuffed on 3 plays and convert a 4th&1 from your own 15 yard line. Not an appropriate way to lose in that scenario.
  22. I put OTHER and counting the 2018 draft a single event from GM perspective. So how about hitting on the first 4 picks and 5 out of 8 so far in last year's draft, plus two major UDFA scores? In a recent first round "re-draft" article on NFL.com; Allen, Foster and Wallace were slotted as 1st round picks given what we know now. That's a wildly impressive hit rate that is what sets a team on an upward trajectory. If these guys all continue to progress and grow as expected, this could be one of the all-time great Bills drafts.... time will tell Allen, Edmunds, Phillips, T. Johnson and Teller in draft with Foster and Wallace as UDFAs
  23. I think this is DA's last year, so having a QB for the PS is a good idea
