  1. Hard to argue Harmon or Butler as they could have been available later...
  2. and he mentions McDermott. If we end up drafting 4th, then a lot of things went wrong and we'll be screaming for his head. Think first half of last year before Allen returned from injury. The wheels were falling off the wagon...
  3. Good analysis and topic! Undisciplined play is a huge indicator of wins/losses. Another nuance to the game that they need to take care of to get back on the positive side of a season's record.
  4. Sure the hit rate goes down by the round, I'm not looking to cover over that point. However, there are top WRs drafted later. I guess if one wasn't near the top of their board that's the answer. But Hakeem Butler and Kelvin Harmon weren't picked until much later in the draft. Most mocks had a Late 1 to R3 grade on them. Beane certainly knows better than me. I was just challenging that good WRs can't be found later on...
  5. Maybe not "dial up", but there's plenty there. Who have been the biggest WRs in the league the past year? Here are all the WRs who had 90+ catches last year: Antonio Brown (R6), Michael Thomas (R3), Adam Thielan (UDFA), JuJu Smith-Schuster (R3), Stefon Diggs (R5), DeVante Adams (R2), Keenan Allen (R3), Tyreek Hill (R5) While that's mixed in w/ Julio Jones and DeAndre Hopkins who were drafted in R1, the vast majority of the top stud WRs came later in the draft. Its actually not even close
  6. Are there an CBA rules anyone is aware of about essentially stashing a 3rd QB as a coach? Imagine if Josh Allen got hurt and missed some games. He would be re-signed as the back-up.
  7. I think they should pick him. Also any idea why Kelvin Harmon is still on the board? I thought he was projected for R2/3??
  8. He's not going anywhere I agree. That's the primary reason Frank Gore came here, so they could do a year together
  9. I recognize there's risk there... no doubt
  10. I'll flip your 5th/6th 5th: Crosby, if he's there 6th: A Johnson, I've been wanting to see them pick him 7th: LB 7th: CB/S, don't we have to have the obligatory secondary pick?
  11. I think Daboll showed he's a bit more creative than that
  12. I take the point and I liked AJ Brown as well. However, we do have talent, coupled with a much improved OL and hopefully revitalization of the running game In addition to the free agents who are all good players, we should expect improvement from Robert Foster. I think he caught a spark and lights are turned on for him. If we extrapolate his production in the last 7 games when he came back from the practice squad to a full season, its impressive. Lets also assume a 10% improvement just from gaining a year of experience and going into that 2nd year. That seems a reasonable baseline. Coaches for years have told us that your biggest improvements come from last year's rookies. If that stays true to form then his season might look something like this. Is that #1 WR territory?
  13. ...and don't forget that he'll bag another ROY candidate from the UDFA pool. So there's that too
  14. Also, when did these players become so singularly 1-dimensional that a 6'4" athletic stud can only fulfill a micro-targeted role on a football team?
  15. I would live to see three picks today! But it won't happen if they trade up. Way too much left on the board to do that...
  16. I don't mind them making move to get back into the 2nd with all the talent still on the board, but certainly sitting and waiting through #40 is the right move
  17. This is just setting up incredibly... Irv Smith, Ford, Risner, all WRs still there.... plus someone will take Lock yet before us probably and there's 2 CBs (Williams, Murphy) all available. Unless you must have the 5th year option, there's no need to trade up
  18. If either Ford or Risner is there at #40, I'd take them. Can get WR in 3rd or trade back in to 2nd
  19. I like that better. Board is setting up nicely for #40, no need to move up
  20. That is certainly peculiar.... which is the most neutral word I could come up with
  21. I checked other... AJ Brown or N'Keal Harry
  22. Uh, no.... I think in his scenario we would still have two 2nds... our own #40 and #55
  23. Its an interesting question. I think this is the correct answer.
