  1. It was the worst case scenario for him. He had two interviews with Chicago. It would have been a great homecoming for him. Coming back to the city he won a Super Bowl with to turn the franchise around. He would have been the modern Mike Ditka without the sweaters.
  2. Happy for Joe Marino to get some extra clicks. I've enjoyed his podcast for a few years now and he is actually willing to reply to your questions directly. He's tried to sound like he's taking a middle ground on Edmunds which is overly optimistic in my opinion. Please don't get me wrong, I would love for Tremaine to become something more. Nothing would make me happier than for our revamped DL to wreak so much havoc that all he has to do is concentrate on his read/gaps/fits. What the podcast highlighted, perhaps unintentionally, is the pro side of the argument rests solely on two factors: he's got great length/speed and he's not easily replaceable. That's it. The cons are many: he can't shed a block by a slot WR he's not good at blitzing for his touted wingspan, he doesn't have impressive numbers of passes defended or batted down for his role--that he's been in for multiple seasons--when he misdiagnoses a play its disastrous. Maybe we're expecting too much from him but that would be a conceit that the coaching staff expects too much. he's had these issues since he was drafted. Either he doesn't spend any time working on them, or he's reached his ceiling I think Marino had the right way to approach his contract, if he doesn't make strides and is the same player you pay him as such and tell him to test the market but we have a locker for him if he wants one. Maybe he walks and we recoup a compensatory pick. If he shows some block shedding skills, bats down passes, and channels Von Miller to blitz like a banshee, you pay him to stay.
  3. I especially love the "he's only done what is being asked of him" argument. That's just blaming the coaching but with more steps. The inevitable next question is "why haven't they asked him to do anything else for years?" there is no explanation that doesn't make Edmunds sound slow to process plays, shed blocks, or be a better blitzer.
  4. Gronk has retired twice so far. No reason not to expect another.
  5. Like me? Specifically? Wow.
  6. Word must have gotten around to their PR team. Was on a text chain just this morning speculating about her condition and how locals said that the worst happened. I’m hoping she could give us an update personally very soon.
  7. They literally do. They say "Don't eat me Gronk!" and also "Tony Gonzalez was a better TE."
  8. Packers at Bills 1994. Brought my best friend along to his first NFL game. He brought a Bryce Paup football card and a Brett Farve Falcon's rookie card he was trying to get their attention during warmups but they wouldn't come over. I was 11 and very embarrassed to be in full Bills gear and my guy screaming for the opponents autographs. Turns out he knew talent and I had a Paup jersey the very next season. The man won't let me forget it to this day. Also one of the most nervous games I've been to. We had a 17 point lead but Farve almost led one of his signature comebacks.
  9. The wasted time of trying to explain why ST is so expensive, and why it isn't going to be discounted is laughable. The real answer is money and people have proven that they will pay it. So why would they discount something they don't have to?
  10. Of course Kittle would want another bye week. He can't stay healthy. But I feel like he's Dawson Knox-like in that most of his injuries come from his aggressive playing style. Of course you love it when he's available, but his absence is felt so hard when he is out. His injury history found on https://ninernoise.com/2021/06/15/george-kittle-injury-history-outlook-49ers/ George Kittle calf injury, 2021 Kittle dealt with a calf injury in Week 4 but still played with it before being placed on injured reserve heading into the Niners’ Week 5 game, which meant he’d miss at least three weeks. George Kittle broken foot and MCL sprain, 2020 Kittle suffered a knee injury after Week 1 last year, which forced him out of the subsequent two weeks where San Francisco traveled to MetLife Stadium. Yet that wasn’t the big injury he dealt with during the year, as Kittle ended up catching a high pass from fill-in quarterback Nick Mullens in Week 8 against the Seattle Seahawks, landing awkwardly on his foot, causing a fracture that sidelined him for six more weeks. Some thought it smart for head coach Kyle Shanahan to shelve Kittle for the rest of the year, but the tight end returned for the final two games of the season, helping engineer the 49ers’ final win of the year in Week 16. George Kittle knee sprain, 2019 Fans won’t soon forget Kittle’s heroic performance on Halloween back in 2019 where he was playing with banged-up ribs and a knee sprain. But that particular injury forced him to miss the following two weeks — Weeks 10 and 11 — allowing No. 2 tight end Ross Dwelley to step into Kittle’s absence. George Kittle shoulder sprain, 2018 Going back to the 2018 preseason, Kittle suffered an A/C joint separation in his right shoulder during the Niners’ exhibition opener, which immediately caused concern he had suffered a broken collarbone. Fortunately, the injury didn’t cause any major damage, and Kittle was able to return in time for the regular season where he’d go on to set the single-season record at the time for tight end receiving yards with 1,377. George Kittle ankle and hamstring sprain, 2017 After being selected by San Francisco in Round 5 of the 2017 NFL Draft, Kittle suffered a hamstring injury in training camp, but that didn’t hold him back from being ready in time for Week 1. He did, however, suffer an ankle injury later during the regular season, which forced him to miss Week 10. George Kittle foot sprain, 2016 During his final collegiate year at Iowa, Kittle suffered a pedal foot sprain against Purdue on Oct. 15, which caused him to miss two games and limited his production leading up to the NFL Draft the following year.
  11. Poyer to me is Five Guys 2022. I love Five Guys. I was more than willing to pay $22 for two people at Five Guys which was expensive at the time. I am not willing to pay $35 for two burgers, a fry, and a drink. Doesn't mean I don't love Five Guys. Not pleased to look for other options, but they're not going to give us a discount.
  12. The massive gap at the line of scrimmage is perplexing. Like there’s an entire yard of space between the OL and DL. Seems QB sneaks would work all the time
  13. If only there was a hero that's been pitching a pinned Fitz thread for years.
  14. It's my suspicion that the NFL is waiting until Mayfield is traded before they drop the two year Watson suspension hammer on the Browns.
  15. I'll often be scrolling through "answers" and read halfway through an ad before realizing it. But that sort of advertising doesn't work on me. Because I take AdForgetter+ now with 35% more calcium.
  16. Not to mention the coach. Reich is McDermott's theoretical evil twin. He's got hair, offensively aggressive, and likes to roll the dice. I'm not so sure if we didn't "take a chance" on him instead of Rex Ryan, we wouldn't be in a similar position atop the AFC by this point.
  17. Both are true. Bruce is highly egotistical AND Boselli doesn't deserve the HOF. There are more deserving OL who had much longer careers. You really have to wonder why he got special treatment. To get JAX players in the hall?
  18. "And then, after you sack them, offer to help them up. Then be like too slow." - Von Miller
  19. He knows where his bread is buttered. Got to thank the team that handed you the bag. Can’t fault him for CYA answers. I try to root for people instead of against. However, it’s hard to root for this guy. He’s got the domestic assault and battery, he chose money over team, and he has his own brand of un-Jordan/Kobe-like arrogance that just grates.
  20. Always hoping we find the diamond in the rough, but this guy fooled 32 teams for 7 rounds if he’s an undercover superstar. His stats don’t pop, his combine measurements don’t particularly impress, but I’m still rooting for him. Hell, Dawson Knox had comparatively few reps at TE and still had a highlight reel hype video when he was coming out.
  21. I used to confuse him with Dennis Green because I felt they both were good coaches who never were able to get the staff they really deserved.
  22. We can expect the same "answer" and "accountability" that the government has had for the past two years: "It's over. Why dwell on the past? Moving forward."
  23. All I do is stag stag stagnate no matter what...
