Cook's following his brother...right off a cliff. Despite having Josh Allen, a city that invested in him, and a coordinator that helped scheme him to his potential, the whole Instagram, X, social media crap and scrubbing his account let's us know he's a talented player but a classless teammate and of lower character. If he wants 3 years for 30-33 million or 4 years for 40 million, then he can talk. This whole 15+million and scrubbing his account is this more recently self-absorbed move that only will hurt him down the road. Cook's following his brother...right off a cliff. Get Skatterbo, Sampson, or Devin Neal with a pick somewhere in rounds 3-5 on a rookie deal, save some money and use that extra 2nd rounder as part of a Garrett, Crosby, or Lawrence package, or draft that 2nd CB or that additional DT/DL Bills need.

Bengals LB Germaine Pratt Requests Trade
Wizard replied to Warriorspikes51's topic in The Stadium Wall
Please know I don't want this guy at all, but every time a player is potentially available via trade or free agency that is posted, I am compelled to read the thread, follow along and then type out, "Git er done, Beane." -
Trade 2025 1st and 6th, and 2026 1st for Myles Garrett. Trade 2025 2nd round pick and 5th round pick, and 2026 3rd round pick for Dexter Lawrence. Sign Courtland Sutton to stretch the field and be a veteran presence. Use other 2nd round pick and rest of draft on CB/Safety/WR/LB Depth.

Did y'all catch Josh's fiance in the boob commercial yesterday?
Wizard replied to Lost's topic in The Stadium Wall
Good for Josh's fiancee to get paid good money for a positive message but dumb commercial. -
That would be the Eagles DL and secondary. It's like when Tampa Bay won with Brady and the whole defense deserved it. Hurts played well, but the defense carried the banner.
-
Excellent thoughts by the OP. We need nasty, tough, strong, and relentless defensive players that fill their assignments soundly and aggressively put constant pressure. The Eagles defense is scary. They have like 6 pro bowl/all pro level talents mainly through the draft that are 27 or younger. Their defense is already set for next year. How many guys fit that assignment-sound and tough profile on our starting defense ? Rousseau and Oliver occasionally. Milano, when healthy, perhaps. Benford and Taron Johnson? Bernard on occasion?

For the suggestion of McKelvin, will our emphasis be on best ways go handle muffed punts? McKelvin is an expert in that area -
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch, I am not implying that Unitas is #1. He is one of 11 QB's that I put (in no particular order) above Allen's career as of right now. I believe Allen will be ranked higher than Unitas, Favre, and several more when he is all said and done
-
All great thoughts. This is the fun thing about sharing rankings as it is really impossible to compare eras definitively. I know nothing about Bobby Lane other than the Hall of Fame website, Wikipedia, a few stories, etc. For those great players, I leave off, it is not a slight. I was most interested in seeing who people have ahead of Allen. There is always the debate with rings, stats, MVP's, all-pros, longevity, how fortunate a QB was to have a great coach and great teammates, likeability, etc. I like how people have talked about football IQ, athleticism or lack thereof, and that "clutch" component, etc. That is why I think any list has Brady, Montana, Manning, Mahomes all somewhere at/near the top. Someone posted they believe Allen is Better than Favre, Young, and Marino. When all is wrapped up, I can agree that Allen is better, but currently these guys have the longevity, awards, and stats cards ahead of Allen. My guess is that Allen has a relatively shorter career. I think he plays to 35-37 because of his style. I also think he does not hold on and pads his stats or jumps to another team to end his career. As far as talent, versatility and personality, Allen is no less than top 2 I have seen. I am very interested to see how the whole Mahomes, Allen, and Jackson, career comparisons finish against the a time great QB's. They already are there or knocking very loudly on the door. It's fun to hear different perspectives.

I agree Warner is great. Please see that the list is in no particular order. Could you imagine Allen with Orlando Pace, Marshall Faulk, Isaac Bruce, and Tory Holt?
-
Like the thoughts...Staubach and Bradshaw had better teams. Staubach lost some prime years as a result of military service. Bradshaw and Aikman are overrated in my opinion. They were really good. Rothleisberger is historically underrated. Large numbers with great offenses. Not denying any of these guys as great in their own right. The 11 above Josh are the ones I feel I can definitively say rank above Allen thus far. Want to hear your opinions and why.

Setting aside (as best as possible) future predictions on Allen's career, bias for and against past talented QB's, and balancing out that "best" is not based solely on stats, longevity, or Super Bowls, where does Allen rank right now among the NFL's greatest QB's ever? Rather than do a poll or dive into everyone's personally preferred statistic, or focus on the most talented QB, most wins, most awards, best arm, who was lucky and had the best teammates and teams, best personality, biggest overachiever, etc...I am answering the question in this way...if Allen were to retire today, right now, where would I rank him? I have Allen as the 12th best QB right now of all-time. Where do you have him right now and why? Players above Allen right now (in no particular order) Johnny Unitas Joe Montana Dan Marino John Elway Steve Young Brett Favre Peyton Manning Tom Brady Dree Brees Aaron Rodgers Patrick Mahomes Great QB's Below Josh (No Order) Fran Tarkenton Jim Kelly Warren Moon (one of my favorite non-Bills) Troy Aikman Matthew Stafford Rodger Staubach Terry Bradshaw Ben Rothleisberger Matt Ryan Phillip Rivers Lamar Jackson Joe Burrow Other Really Good QB's Below Josh: Quite A Lot More Below (No Order and Not Exhaustive Obviously) Bart Starr Jared Goff Steve McNair Otto Graham Sid Luckman Rich Gannon Phil Simms Boomer Esaison Kenny Stabler Russell Wilson Carson Palmer Eli Manning Donovan McNabb Randall Cunningham Dan Fouts Len Dawson George Blanda Sonny Jurgensen Y.A. Tittle Kurt Warner

Gentlemen's bet with a Chiefs fan. Other than that, I may watch some of the game if there is a close game with 5 minutes left. If I do make a bet, it would be the over on how many times they show Swift during the broadcast.

Ryan Fitzpatrick: Hall of Famer? or First Ballot HoFer?
Wizard replied to DrDawkinstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
Not sure why this one popped up recently. Kudos for a thread from 2020 being available. In regard to Ryan Fitzpatrick, let's keep it simple. Sick beard, funny guy, and a highly successful individual. Definitely outplayed his draft status and an all-time fun Bills guy. Bills Wall of Fame?....Sure. NFL Hall of Fame...No. The Hall already has a lot of very good players in it that don't belong (very good is very good but not great). Fitzpatrick was a good player, but let's set aside fandom's myopic perspective. Fitzpatrick is not going to the Hall of Fame. -

Anyone else for using our draft capital for trades?
Wizard replied to SoonerBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Absolutely! Win one Lombardi. That's it. 1. Cut fat 2. Extend Josh 3. Trade for DE, DT, WR, and CB 4. Those you can't trade, get one in FA As for me, get me Dexter Lawrence/Justin Simmons as a DT. Get Crosby or Garrett, though I like Crosby's projected price point better. Get Courtland Sutton or Garrett Wilson to replace Amari and solidify the WR room. If any of those 3 combined can be had for some firsts, seconds, and some other lower picks, go for it! -
I would prefer someone like Courtland Sutton for our WR room.

Answer: 1. The Bills have a top 2 QB that covers a lot of weaknesses 2. We finally have an above average running game 3. Consistency with our OL coupled with investing in it and a lack of injuries has given Buffalo a solid offensive line. 4. The Bills are an opportunistic defense. The coaches maximize the CB/Safety talent, but as a whole, there is not a lot of talent. 5. We have pretty good LB's, but the undersized 2 LB scheme does not usually help our pash rush, run defense, or pass coverage as much as we need. 6. The front office has generally drafted poorly on the DL, or in their developing, trading, or FA the last 7 years. 7. The Bills have done a bad job in maximizing the WR room. Sure, Diggs was great but a headcase. Shakir was a hit. Cooper and Samuel significantly underperformed thus far, and Coleman has potential but so far is umproven. 8. Beane and McDermott get too much credit for the Bills overall success of wins. That belongs to Allen's talent, the OL, and finally a running game, and a division that gives us 4-5 wins fair easily. Remember, McDermott is the defensive guy. 9. Beane and McDermott do not get enough credit for improving the culture, consistency, and continuity of Buffalo becoming a playoff caliber/above average team. Bottom line is Bills are a top 4-10 team each year. They overachieve, and kudos for that. Rosterwise, the team is a top 12-16 roster as it relates to talent. QB-A OL-A- RB-B+ WR-C TE-C ST-C- DL-D+ LB-C+ CB-B S-C Coaching: McDermott is likeable. He is good. He may get us a ring. The challenge is he may be too good to replace, but he may not good enough to get us over the hump.

I feel better. Hopefully, the FO and McDermott are put on notice that they need to be playing for the Lombardi next season. Otherwise, they should be done. Bills need to trim the fat to pay the right guys to extensions and open up space to upgrade/replace the DE/DT/WR/CB spots. Brady was good but predictable in playoffs. Not sure if there is a DC upgrade over Babich, but some philosophical tweaks and 3rd down big stops are necessary. That's on McDermott also.

Yes, in this coming year 2025 or at latest 2026.

I would keep Alec Anderson for tackle depth and he fits well in the 6 OL package. I would keep Ty Johnson. I would keep Mack Hollins on a 2 year deal for him to be our 5th receiver behind (someone we bring in or draft, Shakir, Samuel, and Coleman). I would keep Ferguson at LS unless someone else is just as good but cheaper. Time to get a Pro Bowl level DE, and then a solid DE prospect for cheap, a 6'3 330 true NT, a WR with upside with 1st or one of the 2nd round picks, or a trade that is not going to cost $20+million, and then competitive CB/Safety depth. Anyone else can go: Miller, Cooper, Douglas, many of the other DE/DT backups/rotation pieces.
