  1. Jerry "Freakin" Rice never won a regular season MVP. Drew Brees, Randy Moss, and Roger Staubach did not either. Yes, the Super Bowl win and SB MVP is most important. Still, I am wondering who can honestly vote for Lamar Jackson to win a 2nd MVP when Josh Allen is significantly more valuable than Lamar. And, it is just criminal if Lamar had 2 MVP's when the two best WR's (imo) did not win one combined in Rice and Moss.
  2. Bad take as others have said. Yes, Tomlin does not have a recent playoff victory. His team got beat, but he has lesser talent and got 10 wins. He has been a solid coach and has championships. Not the guy to make fun of.
  3. The play of the game goes to the 12th man. The articles I read, things I heard on radio, and broadcast of the game, hats off to my city of Buffalo and Bills fans that can go in person! It truly is impressive! No game without its city and fans!
  4. It is impressive but far from unprecedented. Let's enjoy the win, but let's not make McDermott into some defensive demigod. 6 weeks ago, we (me included) and depending on the Chiefs game, think he is good but not great.
  5. An "8" is where I am at. Confident for sure, but preparation, consistency, and smart football is even more important in playoff games. What makes it less than a 10? Tomlin is consistently prepared, and he got 10 wins in a tougher division with Kenny Pickett and Mason Rudolph. Steelers aren't nearly as talented. With that said, Steelers are a well-run franchise. Respect the Steelers. Still, we are going to win today. Go Bills!
  6. First, let's rip apart the Steel Curtain on Monday. Then, let's cook the Chefs. 🙂 For those that know the intricacies and nuisances of schemes and attacking a team's weakness, what is the template for the Chiefs? I don't like them having two extra days of recovery and two more days of Coach Reid game planning. We are the better team, but until they're knocked out, they are the Champs. For me, the two biggest factors: 1. 1 turnover or less 2. Control the Clock
  7. Often the best way to not get slighted or treated poorly is not to work for them. Should the NFL or Bills pay laborers more? Of, course. They don't have to though, and fans don't have to take on the side hustles or temporary gigs if they don't want to either. For those ranting about Capitalism, yes, there are downsides. However, you can set up your home the way you like and just about all the major freedoms you and I have is the result of Capitalism. For those of us that have lived in several other countries with less privilege, resources, opportunity, economic mobility, and access, we generally accept billionaires and gigantic entities like the NFLmaking it possible for fans to voluntarily make extra money to shovel snow.
  8. Reading all the comments made me think of this random thought. Choosing an all-pro player is like choosing between a favorite meal, snack, or drink. Many are great and hard to narrow down to two. That's how I feel about all-pro voting. Probably can narrow an all-pro list to 5-10 players at each position, but no perfect list.
  9. Have 3 voting groups with a cumulative score. The 50 or so writers vote every week after week 4. 5 points for 1st and so on through 5th place. GM's get 4 votes, after week 4, 8, 12, and 16. GM's vote for top 10 mvp candidates. #1-#3 get 10 points. #4-#6 get 7 points. #7-#10 get 5 points. Players vote 4 times. Week 5, 10, 15, and end of regular season. 3 active players from each team are randomly chosen by a Random Sample Generator to be voters for that year. They list their top 5 on the 4 occasions with 5th place getting one point and 1st receiving 5 points.
  10. Check StatMuse. Allen, Mahomes, and then Marino as far as total passing and rushing TD's.
  11. That should go to Houston's or Cleveland's GM. Probably Houston as they stuck with Stroud, made playoffs and hired a great coach and made playoffs and win division in first year. Cleveland's coach wins Coack of the Year.
  12. Let's keep it simple. Sherfield is a #4 or #5 at best. Other than last night, he had not even been a decent #4 or #5. Shakir is a #3. He can have #2 moments and games. No one on the Bills Roster can be more than a legit #3. It is Diggs and whomever the Bills draft. Obviously, Harrison Jr, Nabers, Coleman, and Odunze will likely not be around when we pick. Maybe Adonai Mitchell or Xavier Leggette will be available.
  13. I think Baltimore and Cleveland are the two most difficult matchups for Buffalo. Cleveland has a solid "D" and runs the ball well. Baltimore is solid all-around. Buffalo also does not seem them as often as a Miami or KC. If the Bills are the #2 seed, they should make the AFC Championship Game.
  14. If you could give a 2024 New Year's roster resolution to Beane and McDermott, what would it be? My Bills Resolution: The Bills will not carry a FB during the 2024 season.
  15. More than happy to admit I was completely wrong on this one! We could use about 5-6 more of him on rookie contracts in the form of WR, Tackle, DE, DT, CB, and Safety.
  16. The challenge with being a fan of Allen, I think, is three-fold. First, he has such a likeable story and personality. Second, he is so gifted. He makes a few plays that even make HOF QB's and 30-year football media guys blush and gush over. He is the 1% of the 1% as a dual-threat, arm strength, ability on the run, and pure talent. BUT, he can not throw a 5 year screen, a consistent deep pass, and his range of performance from week-to-week causes heart palpitations. Third, his unusual skill-set leads to a lot of "firsts" that are impressive. The total touchdowns, rushing touchdowns, and his ability to account for almost all of their offense every single week are samples of the greatness. These three factors make Allen so entertaining and frustrating. most talented and entertaining. Some of his games are all-time performances. The great, "What if" is will Allen ever reach his peak, consistently? "Peak Allen" is 3 games like the the 13 second game playoff game, half of the interceptions, and 10 more passing TD's. Peak Allen is close to Drew Brees passing stats along with his top 5 of all-time QB rushing stats.
  17. They are a complete team. Multiple offense threats, all-time level kicker, and a variety of ways to disrupt as a defense. Beatable...let's win division and figure out the offense to see them in late January.
  18. No balls on offense. Better be some next week, at least a pair!
  19. True...one win at a time. With that said, the confidence meter is lower but my expectation meter is higher. The only team in the AFC that is really good is Baltimore. Anything less than competing for the AFC Championship is a step back. Opportunities like this must be seized, and Allen needs to play much better. Zero passing TD's and 50% passing, and squeaking by when your defense provides that many turnovers for the offense to work with is rightfully concerning.
  20. We should be up by 21+ Allen needs to do the intermediate passes. Man, his turnovers before the end of the first half today and in other similiar situations is beyond frustrating. Get Diggs the ball.
  21. I don't travel much and when I do, it's on weekdays primarily, so it is nice to get a list from the many traveling fans. Jealous but appreciative! I have fond memories of the old Kingdome in Seattle and Candlestick. I loved the infield dirt, wind, and blinding sun, but I was a kid. I live near Denver. Broncos stadium is nice. I had tickets to the Bills game in Denver during COVID, but tickets were refunded as only about 5,000 fans were picked to attend.
  22. All great thoughts. The never-ending debate of what exactly is the criteria for being considered the MVP is just more interesting too me this year. It seems most of us can point to about the same ten (10) guys. I kind of wish there was an "operational definition" for MVP. I know basketball has generally followed the same unwritten definition as stated by others in this thread. The best QB on a #1 or #2 seeded team or historically great/record-breaking year for a RB/WR seems to be who is voted as MVP. Like others have said, media narrative coupled with Allen's up and down performances make it hard for him to win it. If he had 6-8 TD's, 2 wins, won the AFC East, and zero turnovers over the next two games and McCaffrey, Jackson, and had subpar totals the next two weeks, then I could see it. Go Bills! Let's thrash the Patriots!
  23. I normally don't get into discussions on who should be the league's MVP, but it has caught my attention this year. There are about 10 guys I have heard on and off about on sports radio or on the Internet. There have been a lot of good seasons by players, but there is not any record-setting, historically dominate team, or fantastic season. Here's my top 5. Please know this is not who I think will win or who I prefer. This is how I would vote. Who's your top 5 and why? 1. McCaffrey-easily 2000+all purpose yards, 21TDs already, and the best player on best team in NFC. Best RB/dual threat that is a non QB. 2. Hill- Most unguardable WR currently. Had he not missed two games, he might have hit 2K, which has never been done. Only Rice, Moss, and Calvin Johnson have had multiple receiving seasons (imo) that account for so much offense. He is both overrated (not a QB and Miami has a lot of options), and he is underrated because he opens things up. Hate the Fish but can't hate Hill's talent. 3. Allen- The most gifted QB in the game. Had the Bills had the best record in AFC, I think he would win it. 13 rushing TD's. Other than against Dallas, he is the reason for every win. Good but not great #'s. 4. Lamar Jackson-Best team in AFC. Lacks counting stats. Offense has improved, but he carries the offense similiar to Allen. Has a strong defense, but 19 passing TDs won't do it. 5. Prescott- He had a chance, but after Buffalo and Miami, he is not consistent against solid teams. He has the numbers and under 10 ints. He plays for Dallas. Honorable Mentions (No order) Purdy, Lamb, AJ Brown, Mahomes
  24. Keeping it simple. Local pizza joint and our family makes a Greek salad.
  25. Dear Simon, You always were the least popular among you 3 singing brothers. Bite me! Alvin & Theodore
