Have our draft picks signed their contracts?
BearNorth replied to billvernsays's topic in The Stadium Wall
Heard something yesterday on Sirius XM that 2nd rounders seem to be the toughest to get signed this year. Agents have been showing teams that 2nd rounders are nearly as successful as first rounders, but they have a much lower pay scale and no 5th year option. Agents are looking for more guarantees and incentives, and front offices are balking. -
Eric Wood will probably disagree.

Cam Lewis is a swiss army knife db. In a pinch can stick him in at nearly every spot in the defensive backfield. He graded out as our second best db out of all on the roster and he was a core ST piece as well. I suspect the brain trust has a decent opinion of him vs. some of the other candidates mentioned.

This has also been set to music - haunting. Here is Rochester native Renee Fleming.

Taylor Rapp underrated? Espn thinks so!

Our highest graded safety last season was Cam Lewis, he was the only safety on the roster with a passable coverage grade. -
NFL players to the Olympics in Flag Football?

10 player rosters, five on the field at the same time. If he's all he's touted to be, Travis Hunter who can play DB and WR will certainly be in the mix. The few televised games i've seen, this is clearly a "speed kills" game, doubt there will be much demand for the bigger slower wideouts. Should be tailor made for quick elusive players who get up to top speed in the first couple of steps. Lamar is supposedly a 4.34 40 guy, Josh is 4.7. -
New NFL Award, Thanks to Dion Dawkins. Protector of the Year.

Yes but Upshaw ran the NFLPA for a quarter century and made a LOT of football players wealthy men -

For anyone thinking this is a walkover, I suspect this could possibly be Cool Runnings 2.0. The entire island of Jamaica has a lot of very fast people. If I look at world track, 60 meter top 10 leaders this year, USA has 3, Jamaica has 3, some very fast athletes in Australia as well. I imagine some rugby union players will be a handful, Christian Wade would be tailor made for this type of contest. I agree that Lamar with his sheer speed would be the QB. I think everyone on the USA roster will have 4.40 or better speed. Hill - Phish Worthy - Chiefs Breece Hall - Jets Metcalf - Seahawks Waddle - Bungles McLaurin - Commanders suspect with the speed on offense the d will be heavily seasoned with CB's who can stay close and have long arms. -

I imagine the NFLPA already has suggested this be named the Gene Upshaw award, Hall of Famer, 3 rings. -

If we go three years, then Cookie Gilchrist has to enter the conversation, he's on the Wall of Fame. -

Yes - Fitz threw a 98 yarder to TO in 2009, later matched by Josh to Gabe, also a 98 yarder in 2022 -
My son's mother in law kept saying it was a beautiful fall day. I had to be gracious and agree.

Last Bills game in Carolina was 9/17/17. Game was a stinker Bills led by Tyrod Taylor lost 9-3 in a game without a TD. Beautiful Fall day in Carolina. Bills offense was so putrid that Carolina had almost 40 minutes of possession, but still only put 3 FG's on the board.

Derrick Henry gets 2 year $30m Dollar Extension ($25m guaranteed).

Yes Spotrac says Lamar is $74.5MM cap hit in 2026 but a potential out in 2027 with a $35MM cap hit. If he stays 2027 is also $74.5MM cap hit and $17MM in void years. Yikes some serious change there. -
Dolphins site seems to think we are playing the Eagles in Philly, heads will explode when they see we get Eagles, KC, Baltimore TB and Bengals all at home.

Apparently Travis Kelce is complaining about the heat in Sao Paulo in September, guess he doesn't realize it's springtime below the equator on 9/5 Hi of 75, low of 61.

RAS says he did not agility test.

Away Games - based on 2024 Power ranking Steelers - Who plays QB? Texans - Dome - Tough Game Dolphins - Hopefully in Nov or Dec Falcons - Dome Jets - Talented team in transition Patriots - Coaching upgrade and strong draft Panthers - Needs a New Owner Browns - QB Mess, Needs a New Owner
-
Fixed it - PHL, KC, BAL, TB, BUNGLES - Networks love the insanity of the fans at Bills home games.
-
Nothing wrong with having a guy with his athleticism on punt & ko teams either.
-
CBS posted their top 10 NON-DIVISION Games. Bills are listed in four of them; (9) Bengals, (7) Ravens, (3) Eagles, (2) Chiefs all Home games, expect a lot of 4:30/ Prime time games in Buffalo.
-
Jordan Hancock 9.82 RAS, 4.42 40, another guy with serious hops over 40" vertical. Taller, bigger, faster, more explosive than Cam and played at the highest level of CFB facing elite players [MH Jr.] every day in practice. Suspect when Taron's time with the Bills ends, he could be the replacement, as he played slot at The Ohio State University, but also has size to play safety in a 6 DB set.

This could help a little re the two suspended newbies. Signing Bonus Recoupment: Teams can recoup a portion of a player's signing bonus if the suspension is related to PEDs or substance abuse violations.

Jairus Byrd wore 31. 22 ints, made 3 pro bowls in five seasons, NINE int's as a rookie in 2009. Left unhappy in 2013 after being franchise tagged. Never the same player after he left Buffalo.
