I think Thad did enough last year to retain the backup job. He may not have the pedigree, but I think he has the skills and moxie. The O-line was a sieve much of the time Thad played. He got drilled more times per game than any Bills QB in recent memory. He played pretty decent despite having no camp, being on the scout team until well into the season, and being thrown into the fire. Thad with a full offseason and a full camp getting the #2 reps will be much improved IMO. Plus now he has a half-season of NFL starting experience under his belt. There's no way Prior is an upgrade. I support drafting a QB this year in round 3-6, but I see that as a #3 option for this year.

Why not trade a Graham for a Graham?
947 replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Potential or not, there is no way any other NFL will give up ANYTHING for TJ Graham. He has shown nothing in 2 seasons, and wouldn't event warrant a 7th round pick in trade. If any team wanted him, they're thinking they can get him for nothing after he gets cut. We're best off keeping him and hoping he develops into a useful asset. I would like to see Brandon Graham as a Bill though. Not sure he really offers anything that Hughes doesn't already give us. -
If We Pass on Ebron .... We Will Regret it
947 replied to TheBackupQB's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ebron only had 3 TDs last year, seems like very little production for a guy being touted as a can't-miss redzone threat. He only has 8 TDs in his NCAA career, I'd expect more than that in a single season for a top-10 NFL draft pick. Sure, his highlights are impressive, but he didn't dominate at the college level. I worry he may turn out to be another Pettigrew (minus the blocking). He's a great athlete, but his measurables pale in comparison to a freak like Vernon Davis. His draft stock is largely based on potential, and I don't like that. The Bills have been burned too many times drafting on potential. Let a team who can afford to swing for the fences have Ebron. -
Who is going to catch E.J.'s 20 Touchdown Passes
947 replied to oman128's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
20 passing TDs as a team would be a failure IMO. But we can't overlook rushing TDs by EJ/Thad. If EJ plays all 16 games, 25 passing + rushing TDs should be the goal. That's what it'll take to be a playoff team, at least. -
2014 NFL UFA Visits, Signings, and Re-signings

Crap. I can see him becoming what LeGarrette Blount was for them late last year. This has much more potential to be a thorn in our side than Moreno to Miami. -
The next few days could be a disaster for the Bills
947 replied to Pitta's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
LOL at Moreno going to the Dolphins being something to worry about. At best, Moreno could be considered an "adequate" RB. He had a great year because his QB was tossing TDs at a record obliterating pace, I'm guessing he saw 8 in the box roughly 0% of the time. There's a reason Denver let him walk. Vick is in the same boat. He had a bit of of a statistical resurrection in Kelly's offense, but was terrible (and a turnover machine) the 2 years prior. Somehow I doubt the Jets' system will have the same effect on Vick. DeSean is a legit deep threat & would probably score a long TD in both Jets games vs the Bills. Let's hope Philly isn't dumb enough to trade him, or at least not a AFC East team. -
Who will be this years surprise cut ?
947 replied to Buffaloed in Pa's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
LOL at TJ Graham getting trade offers. When Graham gets cut, I'd wager that he won't even be picked up by another team. The only way I see him on an NFL roster this year (assuming he's cut), is as a midesason pickup by a team that lost a few WRs to injury. -
Steve Smith's agent- "he has played his last game in Carolina&
947 replied to boyst's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Smith hasn't been a #1 WR in years. At this point, there aren't many teams who will see him as more than a fringe starter. He's also a bigtime jagoff, and no longer backs it up on the field, so there's bound to issues with teammates, especially if he's not on a playoff type team. He'll catch on with a contender that is desperate at WR, but his stud days are long gone. He has zero interest in the Bills, and I'm sure they have zero interest him. Rightfully so. -
Pitta is a decent option, but pretty 1-dimensional compared to Pettigrew. Pettigrew is pretty close to Pitta as a receiver, but a much better blocker (if motivated). Either guy is a nice upgrade from Chandler.

Whaley-Dust Settles Approach to FA
947 replied to NastyNateSoldiers's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We can't afford to add malcontent guys like Britt. There is not enough leadership & no winning culture to force him to adapt to. I could see him maybe resurrect his career with an established winner like the Pats or a team ready to contend now. I highly doubt Jermichael Finley ever plays again. He was contemplating retirement after his first concussion this season. After almost having his head taken off when he came back from it, no way. I'll be happy if we all we add via FA is a starting caliber OG. -
McKinnie stuck around in the league for 13 years, has a Pro Bowl appearance on his resume, and a Super Bowl ring. He didn't live up to his draft status, but had a pretty solid NFL career. Mike Williams on the other hand was a complete bust in every sense of the word. The only reason that pick isn't talked about as the worst ever, is because Ryan Leaf & Jamarcus Russell being QBs makes them higher profile. The Bills waaaay overthought that one, and McKinnie should've been the pick (if they went OT).

No question. Torrey Smith is basically a 1-trick pony deep threat. Gordon does that just as well, and is a big bodied inside WR too. He looks to be from the same mold as Brandon Marshall.
-
Gordon is a near top-10 talent at WR. If we over-commit to stopping Cameron, we don't have anybody who can match up with Gordon (w/o Gilmore). Gordon will be the most talented outside WR we've faced, and look what some of the lesser guys have done to us. I'm concerned to say the least.

Pee rivers for 1 game? Not a big deal The bathrooms in the Wrigley field bleachers had over an an inch of piss flowing for every single game throughout the nineties into the 2000s, until they finally updated them a few years ago. People knew not to wear flip flops if you had bleacher seats.

Dareus' chance for revenge on Carolina this Sunday

Add Rolando McLain & Dee Milliner to that list. Mark Barron may end up there too. -
Stevie and Hartline. Sit TY.

I thought Leinart finally had his chance to break away from obscurity 2 years ago in Houston when Schaub went down. Leinart started the next game and looked really good, but inevitably got injured near the end of that same game. Houston had to roll with rookie TJ Yates the rest of the year & lost in their 2nd playoff game. I can't help wonder what would've happened if Leinart stayed healthy for that run. He seemed light years better than Yates. I think Leinart can be a decent backup for us, but with only a week to prepare, I'm not expecting anything soon.

No way Baltimore is a playoff team this year. So-called experts just feel obligated to still pick them since they're reigning champs. Cincy will be the lone AFC North playoff team. Houston & Denver (maybe Cincy) are really are the only teams you can say will DEFINITELY have a better record than the Bills, barring injury. LOL at the mention of San Diego, they'll be fighting with the Raiders, Jags, & Jets for the rights to draft Clowney.
-
I think Carrington will break out this year for sure, then he'll leave via FA. With Eugene as his agent, unless we somehow extend during the season, he's as good as gone. I've always liked Easley, and I think he's showing he deserves a shot WR3 over Graham. He may never get significant playing time though. Moats is still just a serviceable backup, which I guess is pretty decent for a 6th rounder. Troup hurts the most, because of who we passed on. Even if he makes the team, I can't see him ever making a significant contribution.

We got a 4th & a 5th from Seattle for Lynch, which turned into Hairston & Tank Carder. If that's not peanuts, maybe almonds?
-
I would absolutely love getting Moffitt for TJ. On paper it looks fair, both 3rd round picks that are fringe starters on the upswing. But I'm not sure Graham would give them anything they don't already have in Golden Tate. I'm guessing Seattle would want a player and a pick. Either way, our FO better be exploring this as an option. Seahawks do owe us one after stealing Lynch for peanuts.
-
As good as Tuel looked, I see no way Kolb gets cut. It would be coaching suicide to go into the season w/ 2 rookies at QB and no vet on the roster. Tuel should be the #3 this year, then possibly our primary backup the rest of his career.

The offensive word of the day is...crisp
947 replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
EJ's 5.1 yards/attempt despite completing 16 of 21 is a little concerning. It looked a lot like his bowl game vs NIU everything short & easy. I'm sure the reins were on in his first ever NFL action, and he was missing top receiving option. I'm hoping they open it up a bit as the preseason progresses. -
How Long Have You Been A Bills Fan And When Did You Know?
947 replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Despite living in Chicago my whole life, I found myself following the Bills closely in 1989. I think I officially adopted then as "my team" during the playoff game in 89' vs Cleveland when Beebe got flipped on his head. Been a Bills fanatic ever since, I don't follow the local team (Bears) at all.
