Fair point. Again, I feel like they had their bridge QB in McCarron, but that didn’t pan out as they suspected. Either way, in the long run, I feel like Josh Allen is going to benefit from being thrown to the wolves. He seems to have the mental fortitude to weather the highs and lows.

Hindsight is 20/20. Again, I suspect when they acquired McCarron they thought they were getting much more of a bridge QB. Sometimes you gamble and lose.

Playing Peterman was the only choice for McD, IMO. If he had played reasonably well on Sunday, McD would have looked good. Now that Peterman sucked, as we all knew would happen, he has no excuse but to start the rookie. Allen starting this season was inevitable. Ideally, we would have liked him to sit and learn for at least 4-5 games, but that didn’t happen. As I stated in an earlier post, I honestly think they felt McCarron was going to be that bridge QB. Conversely, if McD had started Allen in game one and Allen struggled, fans and media would be clamoring for Peterman. What a mess that would/could have been.

Yes, the plan is to develop Josh Allen. That’s what you have to do if you take a QB top 10. Tyrod Taylor would have cost way too much to keep around as a back up. I honestly think they thought they had more in McCarron. They obviously were wrong. It happens. It’s the Josh Allen show now.

Fair enough. I suppose I have more confidence in Allen than most. He will take his lumps this season and make mistakes, but ultimately (with the right pieces around him) I think he will be our guy. I’ve been saying this for a while, but I think the intent of the FO was not to win his year. I think this team is being set up to compete in 2019 and beyond. Sucks, but this seems to be the plan.

If you have a generational pass rusher available, I say you take him.

Because this team is rebuilding around a rookie QB. In the long term we are better without Tyrod Taylor. Let’s see if you change your tune after Allen gets a full week of work with the 1’s and a full game under his belt.

Allen can escape the rush, and he can throw the football down the field. The offense will open up with Allen at QB. You are acting like TT played well yesterday. He was not good. If the Browns defense wasn’t spectacular they lose that game by 20 points. Taylor will be benched for Mayfield very soon because he, like Peterman, is very limited as a passer.

Yes he was. Until we drafted Josh Allen. Cleveland is already calling for Mayfield after yesterday, and they didn’t lose the game for the first time in two seasons. Tyrod is better than Peterman, but he is not good.

Sometimes it’s easier to run the ball when your QB is actually a threat to throw the ball. Just sayin...

I think the Peterman experiment today was a necessary evil, unfortunately. Once you go to Allen, you can’t go back to Peterman. I don’t know what naming the starter 6 days before the game had anything to do with the result.

Just my opinion, but I wouldn’t pay ANY running back what he will get. Especially since his new deal will be almost entirely guaranteed. I’d rather spread the money around elsewhere.
