  1. The poor run defense seems less like a talent issue and more a product of the scheme which is having positive results.
  2. I was camp 3, now I'm leaning towards camp 2. I think McD has managed this team close to perfect year in and year out in the regular season and now he just has to have that signature playoff run.
  3. Rapp gives the Bills a credible starting caliber option the next two years. Hamlin may get a bigger contract so having the other safety spot locked in with a quality option if you let Hamlin walk is a positive. If you keep Hamin/Rapp as the starters next season it gives Bishop another year to learn the system and take over for Rapp down the line or Rapp is just too good to bench and Bishop is just elite depth, you need depth to win in the NFL so while that's a very high pick to spend on depth at least depth provides value.
  4. I thought when they resigned Rapp in the off-season it was reasonable. Not a great deal but fair for what was a high end depth safety who could also flex into a specialized "Big Nickel" role was well worth what the Bills paid him in the off-season. And he was/is going to turn 27 later this season which for a 3 year deal with a low guarantee was also a good age to lock in a player. The deal has far exceeded its value. Rapp has played like a better than average starter and made many big plays and brough a physical edge to the back end of the secondary. Thought the signing was decent but it turned out to be even better.
  5. Complete actual "garbage time" in the NFL is rare, teams usually don't pull starters unless they are down 4 scores with less than 12 minutes left or 3 scores with less then 4 minutes left. The Bills have had however a lot of time where they are griding out the clock and not playing pass heavy late in games. If I had to guess if you were to combine the true garbage time and the time the Bills spend grinding out the clock where Josh is taking snaps but in a passing deflated time frame I would say you easily surpass 60 minutes.
  6. Bills got an easy win without him. Rams are a solid at worst average team at home. So the Bills taking care of the 49ers while getting Keon and Kincaid a week extra of recovery is a positive thing. Keon looked close to be able to be playing but I think with where the Bills were with the division they had the luxury to rest two of their more critical younger players for the stretch run where they above all else needs these guys as healthy as possible. I know coming off the bye week many of us thought the week off plus missing the week before would be enough to get these guys going but an extra week of rest can make a big difference.
  7. First team since the 09 Colts to clinch with 5 weeks left in the season. Crazy stat, good to lock up a home playoff game and keep pace in the race for the one seed.
  8. Much like Milano the defense is a lot different when Bernard is out there. Hopefully both guys can be healthy for the playoffs.
  9. Jets are going to be in the top 10 most likely and they will be possibly trading up. So I don't rule out the Jets taking a QB. Miami is going to win at least 2-3 more games if Tua stays healthy and I think they will be spending draft picks on building the team around him. The Pats likely are going to do the same with Maye.
  10. Given how Daboll/Schoen fizzled out with the Giants maybe teams will not dip into the Bills pool too much? I doubt that, because no matter how poorly Pats coaches and executives frequently did in other stops they always got poached.
  11. I think KC is going to have 2 more losses in them. I think it is going to come down to can the Bills go 5-1 down the stretch? That still leaves a margin of error to lose the Lions game and possibly come away with the one seed. BUT the 49ers and Rams are legit decent teams and 3 division games could be tricky even if the Jets and Pats are ass. Right now getting a win against the 49ers is all the Bills can worry about at the moment. Worry about sealing up your division first and let the chips fall where they may.
  12. While that's not that far off base you would also hope that if you are the Bills getting back Spencer Brown on the offensive line makes a difference in the ground game while getting Kincaid and Coleman back (while also having a more healthy Amari Cooper) leads to Joe Brady being able to open up the playbook more and attack the KC defense in different ways. Because with Kincaid and Coleman out and Cooper banged up the pass catching core was fairly depleted with Knox/Shakir/Samuel/Hollins being the primary core of healthy pass catchers. And while Knox/Shakir/Samuel/Hollins and a banged up Cooper isn't tragic it is still limiting as to how you can attack a very stout defense.
  13. I hope so Bills will need all the firepower they can get. I think turf toe really hurt his production as while it is something you can play through you need a good amount of rest to actually recover. He looks faster and more agile the last game or so than he has all season. With a bye week to further help heal his injury I think the Bills are gonna see him be even more productive.
  14. I think one of the ESPN pundits pointed out that KC really game planned to stop the conventional ground game against the Bills. So while I do think the lack of success in running the ball sans a few Josh scrambles for the most part was a combination of Brown not being there, KC playing a lot of 5 DL fronts and scheming to make the Bills throw, and let's be honest as good as the Bills O-line is KC has a very stout run defense the best in the league. I think Brown being back would help but the Bills are not likely (barring KC having a key player or two getting hurt or banged up) going to be able to run on KC in a playoff matchup if KC game plans to stop the run. KC's D-line and LB's are too good. BUT if KC has to game plan to stop the run against the Bills then I think the Bills will be just fine generating offense by protecting Josh in the passing game and running situationally.
  15. Great breakdown, I loved the Torrence pick when the team made it last year. I would have actually been fine with the Bills taking Torrence in the first round that year (Probably would have liked at least a small trade down but even had the team stayed at 27 and drafted Torrence I would have liked the pick. But the Bills not only added the top Tight End in the draft in Kincaid but also went out and grabbed what many pundits considered to be the best "pure guard" in the draft in Torrence at pick 59. The Bills were apparently in a very good draft for interior offensive linemen as if you go back and look at that draft there were 4-5 really good interior linemen taken in round two of that draft.
  16. I think McD wanted to call a defensive timeout (which for the first half is fine) and he turned it into a challenge as kind of a why not. I know that's kind of "wasting" a challenge but it does give the defense an extended rest and hey maybe a close call goes your way. But I think you can be kind of frivolous with a first half challenge because not only do you get two challenges but since all turnovers and TD's get reviewed automatically plus anything in the last two minutes and overtime get reviewed automatically there isn't as much of a need to horde challenges.
  17. Looking at that Josh Allen 4th and 2 run
  18. I think McD is realizing that you have to coach to win against KC. Much like when coaches played against Brady you have to play aggressive and leave your fate in your own hands as much as possible.
  19. I'm just worried about this season, roster is in good shape overall.
  20. Samuel being a WR4 is insanely good depth. With Cooper/Coleman on the outside, Shakir in the slot, the combo of Knox/Kincaid at TE, and Samuel as a WR4 doing gadget plays and picking his spots in 4/5 WR sets is going to give Josh a lot of weapons to work with and that's not to mention all 3 RB's are capable pass catchers out of the backfield.
  21. There's only 32 head coaching jobs. So it is hard to pass one of those up. Of course when you are in a good situation like Daboll was in 2021 or Ben Johnson was in 2023 you can be selective but if teams call up for Brady he has to take the calls and consider anything as far as a HC opportunity goes.
  22. I don't think KC needs Worthy to develop into a WR1. I think they would be fine if he's a quality WR2 who adds some field stretching, big play, and gadget ability. I think they would be happy if he is a consistent 800-900 yard player on 50ish catches with 6-8 TD's. I think they likely hope that long term Rice is their WR1 and Worthy is their WR2. My main issue with Worthy is that I think he's going to have a hard time staying on the field. I think as he gets used more his durability is going to be an issue.
  23. The Bills offensive line turnaround was done without a lot of major resources invested in it. Looking at how each player was acquired outside of Dawkins and Brown who both predate Kromer's return in 2022 there wasn't a ton of big money or super high draft picks spent at the line. Connor McGovern- Mid-level free agent add Torrence - Highest draft pick spent late 2nd round pick 59th overall David Edwards- Low level free agency add in 2023 signed to a lower mid-level 2 year deal this past off-season. Van Denmark- Was signed to the PS after the Colts waived him as a UDFA Alec Anderson- UDFA from the Bills Will Clapp- Journeymen IOL Bills signed him on the cheap this past off-season Sedrick Van Pran-Granger- 5th round pick, should have gone higher but still not a super heavy draft investment Richard Gouraige- UDFA Tylan Grable- 6th round pick 204 overall That's in addition to turning Spencer Brown around after he had a disastrous 2022 and turned him into a player who was resigned to a fairly big contract. Even more impressive that with the resigning of Brown all major pieces of the offensive line are signed up for 2025 with Anderson and Van Denmark being ERFA's and Will Clapp being the only true unrestricted free agent. Just a masterful job of building a unit and a program.
  24. Van Denmark was very good esp in pass protection. I do wonder if Brown not being there caused there to be less push in the ground game? Would have to watch the game with an eye for that but KC not only has a very stout D-line but they also played 5 down linemen and have a very good LB core so Brown may not have made a huge difference. But the moves made along the offensive line the past two seasons have been very good. In 2023 the additions of Torrence and Mcgovern to the starting lineup and Brown recovering from his back injury completely turned around the starting lineup. David Edwards was a nice depth addition and plugging him into the starting lineup after Morse was let go was also a good follow-up move. Anderson and Van Denmark were added in 2022 and have been a nice development story both making for strong bench players. The addition of SVPG in the draft was a strong one while Grable also looks like a nice prospect. Even Will Clapp and his hilarious name looks like a nice veteran depth addition.
