  1. Too early to tell, wish Dareus was in this game could use him to stuff the run and collapse the pocket. But the injury situations from both teams should be a huge factor in this game. I honestly couldn't pick this game with a spread if my life depended on it. I would probably put down for the Pats* but I have no clue.
  2. The NFL is as popular as it has ever been but I think the slight dip in ratings can be attributed to Goodell's horrible handling of the leagues affairs, bad Monday Night Football Matchups (As well as last nights debates), and The Anthem protests have all chipped away at the NFL's image which is likely turning away casual fans that make the difference between 19 million and 22 million people.
  3. Pretty much anything on that night football or wrestling is going to sink to an uber low rating against something that is drawing 81 million viewers on average.
  4. Rex got a lot out of a depleted 2013 Jets team that went 8-8 despite having a lot of talent depart and being hit hard by injuries. Rex's teams tend to play pretty hard for him. Only the last year as the Jets did the team really seem to collapse on him. I am not sure if he is the answer but I think he isn't as bad as many think. His teams commit a lot of penalties but they play hard and are well coached defensively. If The Bills can pull an upset over the Pats* and get to 2-2 they will have survived the first quarter of the season and set themselves up to finish the year strong. Dareus and Shaq Lawson will come back to the defense and Glenn and others will also be back on offense and at 2-2 they would have weathered the storm. Even if they lose to the Pats* but beat the Rams they will be at 2-3 facing a couple of winable games home for the 49ers and away at the Fins before a home Pats* games in which Brady will likely be playing. This Pats* game is huge, Rex traditionally has played well defensively against the Pats* system. I am hoping that without Brady there Rex can really poke holes at the system which he has had a solid track record against.
  5. Good sign considering they don't have Dareus and their 1st round pick a player designed to help their pass rush hasn't been able to take the field. Rex's defenses in New York never had a prime time sack guy (Hughes probably being one of if not the best pass rusher a Ryan Head Coached team has had) but the Jets most years were still able to generate a good pass rush by committee. Hopefully once Dareus is plugged in and Shaq is added the pass rush takes another step up.
  6. Week to week people panic or get overly excited because each game is 6.25% of the season. Not realizing that it is still only 1 occurrence and things are so context dependent. The Bills salvaged their season and came up big to avoid the dreaded 0-3 start. They lost week 1 close and then looked bad week 2 (A week in which they had some big plays to give them a lead in the 2nd half), week 3 they looked good. The only thing you can really say about them is we have no clue how good or bad they are. 1 more week and Dareus comes back which is huge for the defense, Shaq could also be a shot in the arm for the second half of the season too. Offensively the team needs more but if they can run the ball and get some big plays while having some consistency in moving the chains (The offense can't keep leaving the defense out to dry with 3 and outs) then the team has a chance.
  7. Kujo looks like an NFL level player the past couple of weeks. Didn't have the strongest game out there week 3 but he looked like he belonged. I think that is a good sign considering how lost he looked his first couple of years. He definitely has proven he deserves a roster spot, only question is when Glenn gets back is he just a back up with potential, or is he a starter at either tackle position?
  8. Now owners of a team aren't the same as they where 50 years ago. The owners make money doing other things and then get into sports as a novelty. Back 50 years ago the owners main source of money was the team, so it was more likely an owner would be closer to the product and more capable of running a team. But today someone who runs a tech company or another business and makes enough money to buy a NFL team isn't going to have the understanding of the game to run an NFL operation. I think you have to know enough to know that you don't know enough. Of course big decision are the owners to make but running the ins and outs of an organization shouldn't be done by a guy who was running a completely different industry for the previous 30 years of his life.
  9. If Sammy is injured long term I would actually consider taking a chance on Gordon. Gordon is a legit number 1 receiver and without Sammy being a number 1 the offense crumbles even more. So maybe to save the season you throw a late round pick to try and salvage the season with Gordon.
  10. I would like to see them try and start Cyrus at RT, Glenn is too good at LT to move him and Mills hasn't impressed me much at RT (He has been decent but he seems more like a high end backup). Hopefully Cyrus at RT and Glenn returning at LT can help the O-line improve.
  11. Comparing Listenbee to Fuller is a bit premature. Listenbee is a 6th round pick who hasn't seen the field. Fuller was a 1st round selection. Granted I would like to see what Listenbee is capable of but not going to go crazy until I see something on the field. Just glad to see Goodwin finally doing something.
  12. Advanced stats in football aren't as revolutionary as they are in Baseball or even basketball because there are a lot of moving parts (22 players on the field) and conditions that make it hard to quantify performance to advanced stats. Bottom line you simply have to watch a player intently to have a real actionable reed on how good or bad a player is.
  13. I doubt it, honestly seems like EJ would be better served going to a QB situation with a fresh start. I doubt Tyrod is going to stick up the joint that much where he wouldn't be on the roster unless the whole thing just gets blown up which is possible but not likely. Overall I think unless a new coach is so in love with EJ that he really wants to resign him then the chances of EJ being here next year are slim to none. I think EJ probably wants a new situation and I think the Bills probably are best off moving on too.
  14. 24-13 Jets, just think that the Jets front 7 is going to put a ton of pressure on Tyrod and he won't be able to do too much. Jets offense will be stifled by the Bills defense for the first three quarters. Going into the 4th the game will be close but the Jets just grind out the Bills defense and take it by 2 scores.
  15. Maybe they do consider shutting him down for a 3-4 week period. He did possibly rush to come back from injury, so maybe he just needs a month to fully recover? I think Sammy is the second most important player on the team so not having him would be a huge blow. Maybe you lose him for a month to preserve him for the rest of the season? But if the team is 0-5 or 1-4 by the time he comes back there might not be much of a season left.
  16. The Fins are a mess, they remind me of the Redskin from the early to mid 00's, lots of big free agency moves and trading draft picks for vets to try and do a quick turnaround. I feel that the Fins need a complete overhaul of their front office before they can sustain any success. The team can draw free agents and the ownership is willing to spend. But it hasn't manifested into anything because their management isn't very good at building a team. Their drafting is bad to mediocre, their free agents are more miss than hit, and they don't seem make good coaching decisions. That being said it's not as though the Bills are world beaters but the Fins are always overrated. Hopefully the Bills having decent records the last 2 seasons is a sign that they are starting to build the team the right way.
  17. He looked liked he was going to come in and be a starting caliber guard as a rookie last year. He started the season out decent a little up and down but looked like an NFL player. However he clearly was derailed by the injury. Hopefully he gets back on track the line seems to be getting better second year in the system.
  18. From Center to Left Tackle the OL looks good same as last year. Right side is a concern but Miller looked solid last year before the injury and Miller looks pretty good by most accounts at RG so far. Mills played decently last year and if he can just be a decent RT and the rest of the line hold the unit as a collective should be pretty good.
  19. Probably would be hard to do because they would see stock as a circumvention of the salary cap. But I suspect that QB's who collect many big contracts probably would buy into the team after they retire.
  20. It's a toss up game probably slightly favoring Baltimore because they are the home team. Both the Bills and Ravens seem to be middle class teams in the NFL that could finish anywhere between 6-10 to 10-6.
  21. Lawson didn't seem to fit Rex's scheme or maybe he lost a step. So I think they cut him because of performance as opposed to how much they loved the other players on the depth chart. That being said I obviously am not on the coaching staff so I don't know how much they love the other younger players. But from the outside looking in I could see how they could be looking for an upgrade esp a guy like Coples who Rex drafted high and coached for a few seasons.
  22. Possibly good news hopefully it results in more pocket time for Tyrod.
  23. The Saints will give him that deal and to be honest if they didn't some other team would justifiably so. Peyton Manning at age 36 got a pretty comparable deal and Manning was coming off of a season that he missed due to injury. Brees threw for 4800+ yards, 32 TD's to 11 INT's last year on 68% completion percentage. The Saints finished 7-9 the past couple of years because their defense is horrendous not because they tied too many resources into the QB position. I suspect that Brees has a couple of good years left in the tank and the time to have traded him for a uber haul of picks would have been 2 years ago. So you have to hold onto such a premium player at such a premium position and try to win in a small window (Most windows in the league are only as good as the QB anyway).
  24. Any player that helps the team be more flexible on offense is usually a good thing. Personally I think someone high up on the staff liked Vitale (Most likely Roman or someone who reports directly to Roman) and then sold the rest of the staff on what he could possibly bring to the table.
  25. Bears could have gotten a very useful pickup, team needs O-line help bad.
