  1. The past 20 years I wouldn't argue, the Bills drafting from 1996 to 2010 was pretty horrid with few exceptions. But that's kind of misleading since the Bills drafting since 2011 has improved tremendously. 2011 draft produced Dareus and Aaron Williams two highly productive starters, they also found a mid round gem in Searcy and a solid backup in Hairston. 2012 produced two highly productive starters in Gilmore and Glenn and some mid round gems in Bradham and Brooks. 2013 was the worst draft in the past 5 but still produced Kiko who gave a great rookie year and was traded for a productive player in McCoy, Manuel was a bust but Woods has proven to be productive in his role. 2014 Watkins looks like a stud that at least paid dividends on his high cost, Cyrus looks like a bust but Preston Brown looks like he could be productive and Henderson could develop into a late round starter. 2015 Darby who looks like a stud, Miller looks like he could be a cog on the O-line and Karlos Williams could be a mid round steal. Since 2011 the drafts have consistently produced quality players with 2013 being the only completely weak draft. Overall I think using 20 years when almost all those regimes have completely turned over since then.
  2. The trade downs seem to work for every team except the Browns. I am pretty sure the Browns would like to have Sammy Watkins and Julio Jones instead of the players they drafted with those trade downs. So while I think the Eagles gave up a solid price for pick 2 it's not as though they completely !@#$ed themselves that much. This year they lose a 3rd and 4th, next year they give up their 1st, and the year after a 2nd. That's not a complete bankrupting of picks for that trade up and the Eagles desperately need a QB. While the Browns still get to pick at slot number 8 and they get 2 good picks later in the draft at pick 77 and 100, then they set themselves up with an extra 1st next year and an extra 2nd the year after. For a team looking to rebuild they get quantity this year and quality the two years after that should set them up nice for the long haul while still getting a good player this year.
  3. Could likely be an experiment they do during camp, kick the tires on him at the position and then see what happens. I doubt they will be counting on him in any significant way.
  4. I think it's more so due diligence than anything else. Seeing what that pick is going for and actually trading for it are two different things. Also this is just a report who knows if this is actually true or not. I wouldn't like the move as I like to give Tyrod the reigns for another season and see if he can be the guy and then invest those picks to sure up other areas of the roster.
  5. A fall back option but I suspect that in rounds 3 or 4 a depth MLB gets brought in to compete with Brown. For one even if they feel confident with Brown there is zero depth at that position, and two I would think that their confidence in Brown is more so as a stop gap, so they will likely want someone they draft to come in and take his job, even if it's more so a mid round player.
  6. He will get a nice contract from a team looking for a backup QB or a QB competition. He showed some flashes last year and got some starts with Cleveland plus the league always seems to love Brady backups. Maybe the Jets kick the tires on him if he comes significantly cheaper than Fitz. Either way shocked that the Texans released him since they don't have a great backup to Brock (Tom Savage will slide into their current backup depth chart). But maybe Hoyer asked for a release, wanting a chance to start somewhere?
  7. WR is a need for sure but I would rank front 7 as a much bigger need. Overall I wouldn't mind seeing WR but If it's between WR and a pass rusher I would rather the team go with the pass rusher. But if there are no good pass rushers at that slot it would be a smart move to look at taking a WR at pick 19.
  8. Maybe they happen to think that the kid from California is the better player? Either way for them to unload most of their best picks in 2 drafts for a player they must really believe in him. I agree that you can't make it a factor in who you pick but maybe it just lined up that way for them.
  9. A sensible trade for both parties. The Rams have a solid team with no QB. They needed to take a chance on finding a great QB and what they gave up was a pretty big haul but it wasn't a tragic haul like the RGIII trade where the Skins !@#$ed themselves over for 3 drafts. The Rams had extra picks from the Bradford trade and then sold out their next draft. Not exactly !@#$ing themselves over completely. Pick 15 2 mid 2nd rounder A swap of a 4th rounder to 3rd round 1st and 3rd next year The Titans threw in a 6th rounder this year but that haul was pretty good for a team looking to rebuild. They set themselves up pretty solid for the next two drafts. They have 3 2nd round picks plus pick 15 and a couple of 3rd rounders. Throw in 2 1st and 3rds next year and it seems like a good deal for a team set with a QB.
  10. Bills need to find a couple of starters in this draft. It would be hard to trade up in a significant manner considering there are multiple needs that need to be filled. I also don't see a great talent worth trading up for that could possibly fall to a point where a trade up would be sensible.
  11. The NFL reflecting the real world economy. It seems like teams feel as though depth players are much more interchangeable and are more available on the market. And that the money used on more middle of the road players is better funneled into more high end players who are harder to find on the market. Think about how many players the Bills have signed for fairly cheap that were graded out to be decent middle of the road players and they were had for fairly cheap. So it's not a shock that teams are spending less on the middle of their roster and funneling that more towards keeping top talent. I suspect that the players union will be looking to increase the minimum salary to try and redistribute the money more towards the lower and middle end players who make up a majority of their membership.
  12. Gilmore is already a really good corner, hopefully he polishes up his game fitting within Rex's system. Darby had a very impressive rookie year and if Darby can take that leap year 2 we will have a very good corner tandem. Robey is also a solid underrated nickel corner along the good amount of options the team has in Mario Butler who showed flashes and the two vet corners the team already brought in.
  13. Smart small signings once again. Special teams unit was solid last season but upgrades are always good.
  14. It was such a non-traditional doc, so much good footage that has been rarely seen. I loved how they didn't do the typical talking head interviews spliced in with footage and stills.
  15. Jets could maybe make a package of pick #20, Mo Wilkerson, pick #51, An additional mid round pick this year, The Jets 1st next year, and The Jets 2nd next year for pick #1. The Titans get Wilkerson a very good defensive talent a couple of extra picks this year and a good haul for next years draft. while still getting to pick at 20. I don't think that the Jets need to go full RGIII trade but they need to put in a pretty good haul of picks on top of Wilkerson. Definitely include this years 2nd and next years 1st is the starting point. I think next years 2nd plus a 4th or 3rd this year would be a good topper to that deal at the minimum. I do think that the Skins !@#$ed everyone over as teams will be expecting 2 future 1st rounders along with a 2nd in any deal for trading up into a top pick that is a QB. They set the standard. Although Cleveland got significantly less in the trade for Sammy but that maybe was a team in a less desperate situation.
  16. Odd that he would just retire as it seems like that even if he wasn't going to get his 14 million dollar salary he probably would have gotten solid offers from a team. But I think this late into free agency the offers while decent weren't going to be great. Maybe he takes a year off heal up from some nagging injuries and reenters the market next off-season. Either that or maybe 10 years and a couple of good contracts is good enough for him.
  17. I say the Trial of the Century is two of the parts. One part the abusive toxic relationship between him and Nicole and up to the Bronco chase and the second part the trial itself. The NFL playing days and the media darling will likely be combined into one part. For 5 seasons OJ averaged about 1500 yards a season in 14 game seasons. Including averaging 143 yards per game in that 2000 yard season he had. Clearly he was a hall of fame player. Throw in his cultural impact in his off the field ventures and it's easy to see why his trial and fall from grace are such a compelling story.
  18. Another low key depth acquisition, I think they will likely draft an O-line later and have them compete with Fernando. Basically it is good to have a vet option to replace Urbik.
  19. Seems like he could be a diamond in the rough and be a quality backup LB. More depth at LB is a good thing for the Bills right now, would like this pickup. Overall it's hard to get too excited about a player a team let go so easily but when it comes to depth in the NFL you can get it by being smart with under the radar acquisitions.
  20. Not too many positions I would be surprised that the Bills would take. A Defensive back would shock me as they seem pretty set at CB and Safety is more so a depth need. Any position in the front 7 wouldn't be a surprise. On offense any position outside of QB, RB, and Tightend seems surprising. Any other position seems to have some level of need.
  21. If the Bills could go out and secure one more fairly cheap vet (Although Brown and Moore were nice additions) I would love to see the Bills nab a pure NT, even if they draft one it still would be nice to have depth at that position.
  22. Moore was graded to be the 64th best CB by some metrics. Overall I think the grab that kind of player as a dime back is solid. Brown was another type of signing that graded out fairly high by some metrics. Both guys should provide a good amount of depth towards a defense that lost a good amount of it in free agency.
  23. One less position the Bills need to worry about depth wise. With White and Moore they have two options at the dime back position. I like Moore better as he seems to be graded out way better and I think he will play as the dime back and as a backup to Robey. Solid little moves the Bills are making to sure up the depth of the secondary. Going into the draft I had Safety and CB as potential mid round depth needs, I think it's good to take one of those need off the board in CB. The first 3 of Gilmore, Darby, and Robey are very good and the team has a ton of options in Moore, White, and Mario Butler to play the dime back and step in in case of injury.
  24. Yup, within a year from the 2006-2007 off-season they lost or got rid of Milloy, Spikes, Fletcher, and Clements on top of losing Pat Williams in the off-season of 2005. Jauron and Levy got rid of a lot of effective vets for little or no gain. Yes Clements got overpaid and Spikes got hurt shortly after trading him but Milloy and Fletcher were 2 self inflicted wounds and they ended up spending 2 premium draft choices trying to replace them (Poz and Whitner) at a time when they weren't able to get much going in free agency and they needed to hit on every draft choice possible. They could have kept Milloy and drafted Ngata and Mangold and had 3 positions filled that year. Tons of missteps in those years, thankfully they seem to be better at drafting and able to attract free agents to the team.
  25. The Bills in my opinion need 2-3 starters in the front 7 (NT and OLB and MLB), so while RT is a need and I wouldn't hate the Bills taking one to sure up the O-line I think that it would only make sense if a RT was the Best player available. However if the choice was between a pass rusher or DT and a RT and both were graded out similar I would rather they take the front 7 player. With Mario and Bradham gone and Kyle getting older they need to replenish the front 7 and find players more suited for Rex's system. Bottom line I guess I am more comfortable with Henderson and Kujo at RT than I am with the options they currently have at NT, OLB, and MLB.
