  1. Netflix and the NFL off-season will fill in the gap. Honestly March is kind of a dead time for sports for me personally. I am not a big NCAA basketball fan and unless the NHL or NBA team I like is pushing for a playoff spot the end of those seasons is kind of OK but not must see TV. Spring training baseball isn't that great either (I don't start getting into baseball until June once the playoffs for the NBA and NHL end.) Honestly the XFL was probably the thing I was looking forward to most just to see how the league plays out. But if this moratorium on sports pushes well into April or beyond then things will be very interesting as this will throw a lot of things out of whack. Overall though it is better they suspend silly sports events for even a few months rather than risk people's lives. It is just interesting to see how this impacts this one particular part of culture.
  2. Clay was a top 10 tight end for 2 or 3 seasons depending on what measure you go by. He was just dramatically overpaid as his TE salary was top 5 in the league for the first 3 years of his contract and then top 7 in the last year of his contract and gave the team a 4.5 million dollar dead cap hit last season. I think Clay and Star kind of fit the same mold of player who was productive enough to garner a starting position but never justified their high salary. The team hasn't had too many high profile free agent busts since 2015. Clay and Star are your worst examples but they were both starters for several years performing a role that was of value. I think Vonta Davis is probably the team's worst signing as he returned 0 value on his deal and embarrassed the team.
  3. Hypothetically IF the team resigns Spain what more does the team need to do for the O-line? This is a serious question. If the team retains Spain they bring back the starting O-line from last year Dawkins-Spain-Mitch-Feliciano-Ford and they have Ty, Long, and Bates off the bench. Other than a 9th O-line player for depth and a 10th for camp competition what could this team do if they retain their only free agent along the O-line. Granted I wouldn't mind seeing this team bring back Waddle and draft a O-line player late to foster some competition along the lines and add some more depth. BUT I don't know starting wise if this team isn't more than 1 player away from fielding a good O-line. If they feel that Spain and continuity is good at LG then I trust Beane. IF they feel Cody needs to kick in then they should go after a RT obviously. But there is only one major piece and some depth that needs to be added here and that one major piece could simply be resining a starter from last year.
  4. To an extent this makes sense but the formula is complete ass.
  5. Love them keeping Wallace and Long, I don't mind bringing back Foster but he wasn't a make or break.
  6. I think he makes it to 2 seasons if only for Vince's massive ego to improve the fate of the new XFL over the original.
  7. Unfortunate for the league that game ended late on the east coast. It would have been better if that was an earlier game with a wider audience.
  8. I view it similar to the Long deal last offseason a mid level deal on a cut player.
  9. The late game was fun, really love how they get you the chatter between the coaches and players, it really lets you into the game. I know Vince McMahon has the league funded for 3 seasons allegedly so I hope it survives long term because the league is fun just a bit rough around the edges.
  10. Fairly low risk and high reward type deal. He is old for the position but started in the league at age 25 so he is only an 8 year vet which isn't too bad. Hopefully the deal is structured that he could be cut at a minimal cap hit if he acts up or is ineffective.
  11. The Chargers will let Gordon walk but some other team will pay him decent money, just not what he was looking for.
  12. Not sure why they would trade their 2019 first round pick after one year? I also wouldn't be interested in Jeffery. Alshon is a quality player when healthy but he is banged up a lot even if he doesn't miss too many games some years (although he missed 6 last season) he just always is battling chronic injuries that limit his production and he is also on a big contract which just makes giving up even a limited draft choice for him not the best idea.
  13. He is an animal in full point PPR and very respectable in half point PPR. But in non-PPR formats he is more of a mid-level flex play. I would look at his stat lines all the time and he would often times have games where he got 15 points but it was off of 10 receptions and 50 total yards. Or in his worst games he would only get 20-30 yards but still get close to 10 points by getting 5-6 receptions. But in standard formats those games are busts.
  14. Going for impact players the three WR's that would interest me most would be 1- Amari Cooper - Cooper is the only stud WR1 on the market. Although I don't like the money he would command (likely near 20 million aav with a hefty guarantee) he is the best WR out on the market and would immediately provide the upgrade at WR needed and push the draft need of WR down to round 3 or 4 where some depth and youth would be needed at the position. I would personally not like to see them shell out close to 20 million aav for Cooper but in terms of impact he is at the top of the market. 2- Robby Anderson - Anderson would likely command a lot less than Cooper in terms of aav and guarantees although he wouldn't come cheap (I would peg his market around 9-10 million aav) but he provides a fast WR who is 6 foot 3 and has the past three seasons eclipsed 50 receptions and 700 yards and 5 TD's at a minimum playing with middling or young QB's. I think the team would still have to draft a WR in round 2 or 3 to get younger behind the vets if they signed Anderson but they would immensely add a WR that fits their needs. 3- Demarcus Robinson - The cheapest FA WR on this list but someone I think would help add depth and come on a more modest 3-5 million aav contract. I think if you sign Robinson you then have to draft a WR high as you don't want to depend on his production level but if you are going more in the bargain bin I think Robinson is a good prospect to go after here. On the trade market I see a lot of interesting options but unless Stefon Diggs becomes available for a package of picks built around a 2nd rounder I just don't see anyone making sense at a good cost point. Odell isn't a process guy and won't come cheap, the other WR's that I think will be on the market don't have enough impact or have injury concerns.
  15. As much as I like Ekeler he is more of a specialist type back (although that dimension is really good), whereas Gordon is a two down runner who can be effective in passing situations. The problem is that Gordon isn't elite enough to command the type of money he wants but is too good to take what he can get. I think some team will pay decent money 6.5 to 8.5 million aav. But he will fall well short of the 10 million aav he wants. Then again weird things can happen in free agency.
  16. Dude helped to win my fantasy football championship. Modern day Darren Sprolls
  17. I'd hate to break it to you but they already were smoking as much as they wanted. The test was extremely easy to beat as it was basically one test before training camp and then you were good for the rest of the year. Aaron Hernandez never got popped for weed so it goes to show you how easy that test was to beat. I don't think anything changes. I like the policy of "decriminalizing" drugs in the NFL. But I do think that in addition to fines mandatory rehab for serial offenders of recreational drugs other than weed should be there. I don't think you want players going unchecked if they might have a drug problem.
  18. Here's the thing, if you know about all this great talent and the benefit of trading down then odds are the other teams do too. Trading down in the end mostly comes down to luck. Is there a team behind you that wants a player that falls to your position badly enough? Given how good McBeane is at drafting I would love a trade down BUT I also know that McBeane isn't afraid to trade up for a player they like. So as much as I could see a trade down to help them acquire more picks I could also see a trade up to the 16 range if a dynamic player they loves falls a bit.
  19. Although I like Williams I think he might be damaged goods at this point. I think of him more as a reclamation project as opposed to someone who would be worth giving up both significant draft compensation and a big contract for. I think if he only cost you draft picks or cap dollars he might be worth a chance but I don't see it working out advantageously for the Bills. Overall I would say that the Bills are better off resigning Spain to a modest deal and keeping the O-line together or kicking Ford into guard and signing a vet RT in free agency.
  20. I think they go with Ford and Ty at RT. O-line players have growing pains in the more modern NFL And I think that McBeane drafted Ford to be the RT and they likely feel that at worst Ty could step in and Ford could kick into guard. But I think that they are much more likely to give Cody one more year to see if he can be a RT. I think that they resign Spain and roll with the same O-line. O-line play improves with consistency and playing together. I think that McBeane will likely feel that Ford will improve at RT and the rest of the O-line play will improve after playing with each other in year two. They also still roll deep with Ty, Long, Bates, and possilby Waddle or a late round pick. I for once don't think the O-line has any major issues if Spain is resigned. Now don't get me wrong I am never opposed to upgrading the O-line and I think that if this team wants to invest a high pick or sign a upper tier free agent along the O-line I am never going to call it a bad move. But for once the O-line is actually pretty good and has solid depth. If they do want to upgrade I would kick Ford to LG and then sign a RT, but I think if they retain Spain and roll with what's there that is a decent plan.
  21. Pass, he seems like he could be a locker room issue.
  22. I would love to trade for Allen Robinson but he is coming off a very good season (with a ***** QB) and while the Bears are up against the cap I think they can find cuts elsewhere. Jones and Tate are men, outside of the slim chance that Diggs is on the block I don't see where a WR via trade makes sense. But sometimes trades come out of nowhere so you never know.
  23. Sanders can play outside but I think he might decline soon and is likely looking for as huge a contract as possible. If this team wants to make a big splash at WR via trade or free agency I would love to see this team trade a 2nd plus other mid round picks for Stefon Diggs. Diggs is a WR1 who is on a good contract in his prime. But I doubt the Vikings trade him. But for some reason he pops up in trade rumors and I think even factoring in the contract and draft compensation he would fill that WR1 need and the team can go edge in round 1 and pick up a WR in round 3.
  24. I agree that if AB does sign he will have a lengthy suspension coming his way if he does make it to the field. But I think Brady is thirsty for him and the Titans would give him a mid level deal if this scenario is to hypothetically play out. As far as Dalton, I think a team does have to give up something of value, QB's get overvalued. Remember Tyrod was traded for pick 65 and I would say Dalton has a slightly better resume.
  25. Indy could make sense for Rivers too. I like the fit there as well. Something tells me that Indy will however not want a long term commitment at QB since they feel Luck will come back and Rivers could be that stop gap. But I think the Pats could take Rivers and get him back to a version of his 2017 and 2018 form when he was one of the top 10 QB's in the league. I think that Belicheat wants a game manager who when called upon can win a game. I think Rivers fits that mold. I think if reigned in 80% of the time he can manage games and then when needed let it rip that other 20%. If not Rivers I could see the Pats trading a second round pick and a 2021 pick for Dalton and then drafting a QB next year while having Dalton take the position for the next 2-3 years as a pseudo game manager.
