I would agree with Josh that he lost the game for the Bills with his poor decisions. However, that being said, I don't think we will face a better defense than the Jets. You have to give Joe Douglas credit, he's built a defensive roster that might be the best in the league. I'm sure I'll get some arguments from 49ers fans.

I think the Bills found a real Right Guard.

Can't evaluate the secondary with Rodgers going down, but the Bills pass rush looked good. Torrence looked solid.

2023 NFL Season - Week #1 - Bills at Jets - Post game game thread

Had Rodgers played the whole game, the Bills might have been embarrassed last night. -
Maybe Josh will do an Aaron Rogers so we can sign Bosa.

Van Demark, a "Model" Fit for the Bills OL?

From what I've observed he not bad at LT, but a disaster waiting to happen at RT. -
I think you are splitting hairs. What criteria would you use to rate the OC's in 2022?
-
I would say if your team is second in scoring and second in total yards/game in the NFL, it would be a gross omission for an OC not to be in the top 10 of all OC's no matter the circumstances.

Lately it's been reported that the Bills were close to obtaining Zack Ertz from Philadelphia. That didn't happen. That said, perhaps it's time to try for Ertz again. With the Bills planning to play more 12 formation, a well stocked TE room might work well for the long season.

I can understand a difference of moral opinion on what is the right thing for the Bills to do regarding Matt. However, not bringing in competition because an incumbent player has a contract flies in the face of roster improvement and the much-touted Bills philosophy of competition and earning a roster spot.

If I recall correctly, at the press conference for the release of Matt Araiza, McDermott said it was best for Matt to go home and clear his name. Matt, at the time, was proclaiming his innocence. Matt has gone home and has done exactly what McDermott suggested. We now know that Matt was falsely accused, and has been fully exonerated. Perhaps it's the right thing to do to bring Matt back and allow him to complete for the punter position.

If he has been fully exonerated, why not invite him back to compete for the position?

Isaiah Simmons has played the majority of his snaps at OLB and CB, but has played 508 snaps at MLB for the Cards. I would assume that's a sufficient sample size of plays at MLB for a reasonable evaluation. The Cardinals have declined his 5th-year option. Simmons' salary for next season is an affordable 1.4 mil with a cap hit of 6.5 mil. Should his 508 snaps at MLB show well, perhaps a trade for Simmons would be the Bill's answer at MLB for next season.?

Are we more deserving of the SB hype this year than last?
gjv replied to Success's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think this season, the race for the AFC East Division will be the most competitive we have seen in this division in decades. Perhaps it will come down to the winner being the team that stays the healthiest at critical times and/or throughout the season. Unfortunately, the downside to having such a competitive race, is the likelihood that the only team to make the playoffs from the AFC East will be the Division winner. -
Do you guys feel right about FA/Draft and the "Process" ?

Read the first sentence again. If there is a huge upgrade in the guard position, it will come from the draft. Also coming from the draft is our Big Boby TE/ Slot. -

For me, the key to our improvement is how well Beane did in the draft, and how quickly McDermott can get our top four picks up to speed. Discounting the Draft, I would say in the AFC East, the Jets and Miami made significant improvements to their rosters. Buffalo and New England pretty much just shuffled the deck in free-agency roster moves. -
I think Kincaid will be #2 in targets and receptions next season, thus becoming the Bill's #1 TE.
-
I'm expecting this to be the most competitive AFC East race in decades. Based strictly on rosters, I would have to say the Jets improved the most, followed by Miami. Buffalo and New England have made changes to their rosters, but nothing that really moves the needle for either team. It might come down to the winner of the AFC East being the team who stays the healthiest throughout the season.

I think Beane drafts better in round five than in rounds 2-4. Would not be surprised if Shorter turns out to be the "diamond in the rough" for the Bills in the 2023 draft. Shorter was behind WR studs at Penn State, and consequently never saw the field. And at Florida, he had a revolving door at QB, OC, and Head Coach.

Beane will pick the best special teamer. It's become a pattern of Beane's in the 3rd round.
-
Yes, there is certainly a need to hope. I hope Torrance develops some quickness so he is not eaten up by 3 technique tackles. I hope we stop drafting special teamers in the 3rd round. This is becoming a troublesome pattern.
