Mike Schopp is by far the most interesting guy on the air in Buffalo sports. John Murphy? State-run radio.

It's an important game for MARRONE. I think he has finally figured out he cannot turn chicken schidt into chicken salad at qb. manuel better play well or all we will have to show for this regim,e is a lot of positional upgrades wasted by total mismanagement of the qb position. that's how you get fired.
-
hullhawk, your comments are interesting. because you disagree with him about sports you HATE him. I don't quite get that, but you fit in really well here!
-
this will probably get my membership revoked, but i love Schopp. I don't always agree with him but he's always interesting to me. even when he talks about stuff i can't stand, like card collecting, baseball and tennis. sal's cool for Xs and Os, but I like the afternoon show the way it is. Sal and Schopp was pretty good last week. I think it is really weird how panty-wadded some of you guys get of WGR, and sports media guys in general (Buff news). You get so threatened when you hear something you don't like...so funny. Really I like all the guys who write and talk about the Sabres I can honestly say I enjoy them all. I wish I didn't feel like I was the only one.

Is EJ Manuel a slow starter in each game ?
jester43 replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I read he had "slow eyes" coming out FSU. Whoever wrote that was right. -
Comparing EJs 1st 10 Games to Kelly's
jester43 replied to Dean Cain's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I thought Kelly had 2 years in the USFL not three. They didn't play in 85, right? He would have played for NJ, but there was no season. Of course the 2 years helped him a lot. I posted KElly's 1stBills season on pg4 of this thread and was attempting to post EJs rookie hihlights as well (also from youtube) but my computer isgoing wacky and I can't. why doesn't someone post them side by side and everyone can post what they see? For the most part, I see Kelly making better and tougher throws into tighter coverage. A lot of EJ highlights were wide open throws that half the people reading this could have made. I don't see EJ even attempting some of the passes JK nailed (HOPEFULLY this year that changes) It looks to me like the game was too fast for him last year. -
Comparing EJs 1st 10 Games to Kelly's
jester43 replied to Dean Cain's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I could have sworn this has been posted before in a similar thread discussing the same topic. watch "Jim Kelly pt 1 1986" and tell me who you'd rather have. I had to console myself that he got do spend two years n the minors (usfl) that EJ didn't....but still... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BX5_-EhEo9g -
Johnny gold (if you are still out there) you are a treat, and I hope you keep posting. in your defense, it should be pointed out that it's been really hard to go wrong betting against this team and it a been for quite while. this site has way too many homers and Pollyannas who constantly bash the media and fellow fans for pointing out the obvious. But having said that, I think you missed the mark. You asked earlier for someone to explain how we WOULDN'T be awful, and I will: offense: will rank 15th-20th. I'm not sold on EJ, but he has some great weapons and I think he willmove the ball better this year. defense: will rank 10-15th I am impressed so far. special teams...will be much better and we have a solid kicker that can eke out an extra win. to me that =8-8, 9-7 if we have good luck with injuries. there you have it.

Thoughts and prayers go out to Montori Hughes
jester43 replied to Canadian Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
so terrible. my heart aches for that guy. I have 3 boys that are pretty small still (2,4,6) and I can tell you I never stop worrying about crazy stuff like that. I had a really hard time enjoying their birth/infancy because of stores like that. I wish than man some peace because he is living out my nightmare. -

The all Tebow for the Bills thread

. the guy gives me the creeps and even i'd welcome him at ths point and agree about manziel. -
lol no, it s not about New York state taxes. if Buffalo had Green Bay's record over the past 15 years and vice versa, Green Bay wold win that poll. And for anyone who thinks this about anything BUT winning must have ruined their memory with booze or be really young, because the thought of the Raiders topping out a poll like this when they were relevant is unthinkable.

Chicago Media- Bills are an Easy Win
jester43 replied to jethro_tull's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So, they are foolish to proclaim the Bills an easy W, yet they are what we should aspire to? I'll pass. -
EJ looked calm and in control..

Fred speaks out against practices vs Steelers
jester43 replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
his comments make think about tasker's interview with Mike Schopp a couple weeks ago. How many "leaders" do we really have who will not tolerate mediocrity? Fred has always been above reproach, but maybe he's thinking a bit selfishly righ now. For years this team has looked like it has needed a great big plate of harden-the-f***-up for breakfast and to me this is a great way to serve it up. -
I think you're right, but with 1-2 teams sold (on average) each year, the opportunities are going to come up.
-
wow, half the teams in the league have changed hands in the past 10 years? then why do do many people always make the point that "nfl teams rarely are on the market" when talking about why the Bills would have to fetch a record price? If i was John Francis Bongiovi I would just concentrate on making more crappy music for a few years and come back when i was worth another $100million. certainly there will be another team to bid on soon enough.
-
they should hang onto him unless they get an insane offer for him...like a 1st rounder. and i don't think it's out of the question that it could happen. i'm sure there are plenty of teams who think the only reason he is not a star is that eh bills suck and don't know how to use him. they could be right. if no offers like that come, then the worst case scenario we have actual depth at a position where we are always hurt. I'm not sure why i don't hear anyone pointing that out. just because we start the season with 3 or 4 good RBs doesn't mean we'll have that many for long. Sorry to say this, but at his age, it is a better than 50/50 chance Fred misses multiple games with injury. and at 33, when he hits the wall, he's gonna hit it hard. i love him, but that's reality.
-
because ultimately Pegula won't really have to pay much more than the 2nd highest bid. If, between Trump and John Francis Bongiovi, they can't coax more than a $1b bid, Pegula will only have to commit to $1.01billion. I'm sure they'd rather see it actually go for the $1.3b we keep hearing Pegula pledged. If no one else comes close to that, he purchase price drops. I'm sure morgan Stanley is busting their asses trying to find other bidders, because I think the price of this deal is dropping fast. ps...my speculation of course.

Pregame HOF Kickoff the Season: Giants Vs. Bills
jester43 replied to Nanker's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm just hoping the feelgood is still alive in me tomorrow morning. I have chosen to believe our players are watching and learning the lessons our super bowl teams have been teaching them this weekend. I have chosen to believe EJ can be a top-15 QB. I have chosen to believe Schwartz can improve the run defense...even though I hate his scheme and we lost our best linebacker. I have chosen to believe in Marrone, Whaley and Brandon...yes, even Brandon, who had zero credibility with me for getting behind that Toronto foolishness. But since he pulled the plug, he gets a fresh start with me. I have chosen to believe Andre knew what he was talking about last night when he announced to the world that the Bills are staying. I have chosen to believe John Francis Bongiovi's ridiculous letter was a desperation hail Mary from a group who has badly misjudged the resolve of all concerned to keep our team. They know they are screwed. And most important, I have chosen to believe Jimbo is on the mend once and for all. We were all choked up last night and we deserved to be...Obviously not all these issues will be affected by tonight's game....but it is the pre-season and I just want keep riding the wave of hope as long as possible! -
Well said, and thanks for the rest of that post as well. For my part, I have contended planet earth should be a Bon Jovi-free zone for 30 years, and I am glad the sentiment has finally caught on. Horrible tripe, that music.
-
I don't think there is any reason to let Brandon go. He's made the Bills profitable, and he ended the Toronto debacle, which is what he needed to do to restore his credibility. Just stay out of football and we're fine.
-
I'm not arguing your other points, but the Bills sell out just fine when they're on the road. Almost every NFL game sells out no matter who is playing.
