Since all of a sudden no one wants credit for EJ i'm not sure what to think of him. i'm happy to defer to ernie accorsi's judgment though.

was just listening to Howard Simon talk about this...I feel like the only reaction here should be jubilation. This will be the first step in getting Russ Brandon the hell away from football operations....which needed to happen years ago. Let him go back to being a full time bean counter. Someone who's been down this road before can decide whether we need a new coach and/or GM. I was worried about whether Pegula learned anything from his mistakes with the Sabres....when he FAILED to do this...and the team subsequently went down the crapper. Now we know he has!

I saw the Pats killing Cinci with their tight ends Sunday and that sent chills down my spine...since that has been how they killed us so many times. you are trapped in a world where you see what you want to see despite the lack of evidence. Cherry picking a few guys who had slow starts and great careers doesn't prove woods is anything special. I know Gms get paid to figure this out but I'm supposed to say Robert Woods is a future star because you say so and you know talent. Ok.

bull ****. You're giving me a bunch of subjectives because you like him and he plays for the Bills... "solid" hands, "good" routes, "big" plays (so many big plays, in fact, that the bills are all of 9-12 since he was drafted). You can shake a tree outside any NFL stadium and out drops half a dozen guys whose fans say the same things about them. none of that makes you special n the NFL. It's pretty much what you need just to get on a roster...but until you produce, you're just a guy. I am hoping you're right and he is an all-pro waiting to blossom.. And i don't care what those other guys' numbers were...if you're so anxious to prove a point, you look up their first 20 starts and tell me. Meanwhile, for every star whose career had a slow start, there are a boatload who start mediocre and stay that way. Until you do it, you haven't done it, and don't expect me to heap praise on a guy just because he plays the Bills. i am dying for the guy to prove me wrong, but it is no great insult to say he's average when he hasn't produced much. i'm not saying he can't ever be a standout. i AM saying he doesn't look like one now, and he's not done anything that would make you predict it. Other than make a few plays here and there for crappy QBs, which I agree with you about.

I don't really know what you're getting at, and I wish you'd just spare us the suspense and provide your own definition of " average." or better yet, go to some stats website and make a list of guys with 39/ypg over their first 20-or-so games games. then post it here and say "these guys are above average." and everyone is going to reply: no, those guys aren't above average, they suck! 39 yards a game. But because he plays for the Bills, woods must be great, even if he hasn't really done much yet. i agree he is a good blocker and that is admirable. you are what your numbers say you are. if you want to give him a free pass because EJ sucks, that's fine with me. But why is it we all have to say all the Bills are awesome,or "above average" before they actually prove it with their play? actually, considering some of the garbage this franchise has fielded over the past 15 years, calling Woods average is a complement.

i'm all about heart and toughness, but until he produces more than 39 yards a game, calling him average is more than fair. it might even be charitable. hopefully he improves soon with better QB play.

I guess not! he got treated to the worst o-line play we've seen all season and only got better as the game went on. Does EJ have naked pictures of you or something? Are you going to tell me we would have come back and won that game with him starting? with 49 rushing yards?

oh my god. are you really going to compare 30/43 for 308 after not taking a snap since last year and not taking one ever with this team before today to ANYTHING Manuel did in 14 games with 2 full trainiing camps and an off-season as the starter?

As usual, the pollyannas are jumping all over anyone who says anything critical, but your assessment is mostly fair. While I do think he deserves credit for his blocking, I'd like to see his production go up now that he has a better qb throwing to him. At least we can be reasonably sure that iif he's open the QB will notice. So we'll know soon enough what kind of weapon he is.

i actually picked the bills to win, but i felt like an idiot for that at 14-0. what a gut check win...wow...congrats everyone. Orton was UNDER SIEGE and he held it together.
