Could Alabama Crimson Tide beat the Miami Dolphins?
vincec replied to BrycePaup4ever's topic in College Football
What's amazing about this is that the Soviet team wasn't the Miami Dolphins. They were the best professional team in the world that had just defeated the NHL all-stars in an "exhibition" series. So to lose to a team of US college all stars is actually an even crazier upset that Alabama beating Miami. -
Could Alabama Crimson Tide beat the Miami Dolphins?
vincec replied to BrycePaup4ever's topic in College Football
I think that would be much closer. Miami would still be the heavy favorite, but given enough time to prepare I think the FBS all-Americans would at least score some points and keep the Dolphins under 50. Against Alabama, the only question would be if the Dolphins made it to 100 or not. -
Really, he has a lot to prove yet as an NFL OC. He has been OC for 3 teams now and his offenses have ranked 29th, 31st, 20th, 32nd and 30th. So, I don't see how anyone can see him as a hot offensive guru that you want to make a HC, like Sean McVay. He's going to have to build something really good here before he gets a shot, IMO. Frazier had a shot and it didn't work out so I don't know why anyone would look at him differently from guys like Jim Schwartz, Wade Phillips, Steve Wilks, etc. etc.

There Always Seems to Be One Bill Everybody Hates on Annually

Strong candidates but I think Dawkins is the leader for the moment. The other two haven’t been with the team long enough to create a strong enough reaction. Yet. -
He'll get his chance to get out of the doghouse. Injuries to the WRs are inevitable as the season moves on so he needs to keep a positive, constructive attitude and be ready when the opportunity arises.

Injury updates - Morse, Milano, Murphy, Ford

Any meaningful hamstring injury never heals during the season, IMO. You can get back to basic functionality but you don't get your full explosiveness back until an offseason of rest and rehabilitation. -
Titans Release Kicker Cairo Santos, OL David Quessenberry

I thought it went out of bounds on the sidelines instead of through the end zone. It was crazy wide. -
Is the Cheats* D as good as it appears to be?

It's too early to make these kind of all time judgements, but the Patriot's defense has allowed less than half the points that the '85 bears did through the first 5 games. And average scoring is higher today than it was in 1985. You can argue that the Patriot's haven't played anyone with a strong offense yet, which is true, but at this point you have to give them their due. -
I wonder if he just can't master the "aussie kick" he keeps trying. Maybe he should go back to the old days and try to kick it out of bounds instead.

Not sure I wouldn’t have taken that penalty and try to make that FG hard.

Tre White was trying to give him one after the game.
-
Why? Because neither one throws many interceptions? Mariota is certainly better than Taylor and they don't really play much like each other, IMO.

They play different positions. -
He's playing a lot more consistently this season. He could always make the flash play but now he's a force all the time it seems.
-
They only have 2 RBs on the active roster: Gore and Yeldon. They don't want Gore to get more than 20 carries per game and I don't think they really trust Yeldon to run the ball so they are obviously planning to pass a lot.
-
I think it's the coaching staff. Zay Jones is sitting on the bench doing nothing and you can't call a run when you want because you don't want your RB to get tired? That doesn't sound like good planning to me.

You mean rolling out to your left and then throwing back across the middle of the field is ill advised? Who knew? -
I agree, but whose fault is that? There were plenty of other RBs that he could have on the roster. Murphy for example. Instead, they have 6 WRs active.

Probably because there were 2 Titans players waiting where he was headed, so he hooked up before that. -

I was wondering about this during the game. This may or may not be true, but they are certainly in the discussion. -

Yeah, OL played pretty well today overall. Allen generally had time and that 4 minute drive was great. -
On Monday he'll spin it that he wasn't down on Duke at all and we just misunderstood him.

Honest question: What do people see in Daboll? His record as an OC in the NFL is horrible, but he worked for Belichick and Saban and they both speak highly of him. Tom Brady as well. So there are obviously some qualities that they see in him that make them think he will eventually be a good OC. Can anyone provide feedback as to what his strengths are as an OC?

You have?! From where? Oh, wait, this is made up to prove a point that can't be proven with a real example isn't it? -
Josh Allen in concussion protocol: Update cleared 10/5
vincec replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
These are my thoughts exactly. With the team averaging 6.1 yards per carry they still passed twice as much as ran, and that includes the QB scrambles. I think the major cause is that they just didn't have enough carries available from their RBs. And before people start saying "wait for Singletary to return", I would like to point out that I believe Singletary has 1 run between the tackles (for no gain). So I don't think the coaching staff sees him as someone who can carry a lot of the running load either.
