  1. "The claim will be that now that the players are not represented by a union, and therefore are independent employees, any lockout attempts by the owners is ostensibly an organized boycott of workers by 32 businesses working in concert, a violation of antitrust law." http://bizoffootball.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=784:unable-to-breach-gap-with-nflpa-dissolves-files-antitrust-lawsuit&catid=34:nfl-news&Itemid=53 What I don't understand is: How can the players force the owners to conduct business? If the league continued playing but barred players in the union from participating then I would understand, but If the league shuts down for a year then what is the players case? Can they force the owners to continue conducting business? Also, the owners are certainly correct in their assertion that the union decertification is a sham and that the players are still acting in concert with each other. I don't know if this means anything legally though. Anyway, just curious if anyone has an explanation for this.
  2. Are you really wringing your hands over Stroud? After watching him play last year and barely contribute on one of the worst defenses in the NFL? Is there no end to what people will complain about?
  3. Maybe he's happy because he just got laid. Wait, isn't Jauron the DC for the Browns? Maybe he's working on moving the lynchpin of the vaunted Bills D to Cleveland...
  4. This. Resign him, then draft some linemen. The only guy on this list that disappoints me a little is Youboty. He hasn't played much over the past few seasons but he has looked pretty good when he has. If the Bills don't sign Florence, there will be a shortage in the secondary.
  5. Frankly, Spencer Johnson played better last season than Stroud, IMO. Maybe the Pats can wrench another year out of his as a backup, but I doubt he's going to contribute very much to their fortunes.
  6. I agree that many things have changed in the NFL in the last 40 years, but one thing has not changed- football is first and foremost a physical game. That will never change. The Bills need to be looking for big, physical players. Quick and nimble is nice and all, but big and physical should be the goal. The only thing remotely surprising about this article is that so few LBs in a 3-4 league are high draft picks. Back in the 90s with Conlan, Bennett and Talley, the Bills had some high picks playing.
  7. It's very hard to choose sides in a fight over money between millionaires and billionaires while I struggle on a monthly basis with basic expenses. F*** them both. The money's there so they can fight over it all they like, but it's not my money and they haven't gotten any of mine in a very long time.
  8. Recently been to the new Cowboys stadium and the University of Phoenix stadium. They are awesome and make the Ralph look pretty sad by comparison. It doesn't really feel like football when it's inside though.
  9. Obviously. Hey, I have a question too. Will Trent Edwards become a pro-bowl QB now that he is finally out of Buffalo?
  10. +1. I think a DE will definitely be in the draft plans somewhere, but I see Carrington as getting the first shot to seize the starting position.
  11. I knew it was coming.
  12. Top 10 best defensive players based on last year's performance, IMO: 1. Williams 2. Florence 3. Moats 4. Edwards 5. Whitner 6. Kelsay 7. Byrd 8. Poz 9. Davis 10. Ayodele I would say that 1-4 are solid, 5-8 need to step it up or be on their way, and 9-10 are stop gap at best.
  13. If Quinn is so good, then how does he last until #3?
  14. I've always been a 4-3 guy, but I have to admit that the 3-4 seems to have a tactical edge in the modern NFL. All of the best defenses are 3-4s: Pitt, GB, NYJ, Balt. The only possible exception may be Chicago (and with all the talent they have on D they should really be doing better, IMO). And while it's true that last year's SB teams both played a 4-3, those teams weren't in there because of their defenses.
  15. Ya think? People on TSW are the best. Wait, are you being serious? You would rather have Fitzpatrick than Marino?
  16. Poz is best as a 4-3 OLB, IMO. He needs to work on his coverage skills, but his athletic ability, high "motor" and moderately good pass rushing skills would work well there. If the Bills are committed to a 3-4, then he probably needs to be eventually replaced with a bigger and more physical player. The Bills need to resign him anyway though because they don't have much at that position and need him for the next couple of years.
  17. If you've ever watched a game in Dallas, you'd know that most of the people there will basically be watching in on TV anyway. That massive screen is irresistible.
  18. When Troy Aikman won't throw to Michael Irvin or Alvin Harper if they're on Deon's side of the field and the 49ers start lining Jerry Rice up in the backfield to get him away from Sanders, then you'd have to think that Sanders may be a first ballot HOFer.
  19. Jim Brown too.
