  1. I like the guy. He makes some mistakes which lead me to think that he may not have a very high football IQ, but I'm pulling for him. He needs good coaching and strong guidance. His athleticism is off the chart.
  2. and two Super Bowl rings.
  3. This. Plus up until last week I thought that the defense had been starting to play better. Unless the defense just totally collapses over the last 4 games, I see him being back next year.
  4. Pretty much right on with this column.
  5. Very possible...
  6. He learned what he wants for Christmas.
  7. I expect him to be back this week. If not, then I guess Levitre will be center with somebody off the street playing guard. They could also try Wrotto and guard with Wang at OT... not very promising.
  8. The offensive line was getting their butts kicked well before Hangartner went down. There was virtually no running game and Wrotto and Bell were getting roasted in pass protection. Bell didn't appear to be strong enough to handle Allen, who is probably a bigger and more physical end than he is used to facing.
  9. So I assume it'll be Wood to center with Howard playing guard. Bell-Levitre-Wood-Howard-Wrotto. But there is absolutely nothing behind them...
  10. Plus, don't forget the additional squats.
  11. Steelers OL is weak, especially in the pass blocking department. The minute I saw that Jonathan Scott was starting at LT for them I knew that they were in trouble. Frankly, I was disappointed that they were able to run the ball as effectively as they did. Edwards going out didn't help.
  12. This part is the best, especially since the current coaching staff already did this once.
  13. +1 He's the guy making the plays. That can't be bad. Would you rather have a guy who makes no tackles playing ILB on defense? Seems crazy since the DL are supposed to be keeping players off of the ILBs so that they can make most of the tackles. Also, ILBs don't get many tackles for losses unless they are blitzing. That's a DL statistic.
  14. Hmm... so I guess this I'm the only one who has been pondering this...
  15. So I was watching the Georgia and Georgia Tech game this past weekend when Bob Davie made an interesting point. Georgia was playing its base 3-4 defense most of the game for one of the few times this season because GT ran the option offense. With all of the spread offenses in college FB, most teams are in nickel and dime packages using 4 DL most of the time. Then I watched the Bills give Casey Hampton the day off during the Pittsburgh game by playing most of the time is multiple WR formations. So I started to wonder, with all of the passing in the NFL now, does is really make sense to invest money, roster spots and practice time on the 3-4 if the Bills are going to end up playing 4 DL most of the time anyway? The Bills don't play it like the Jets with heavy blitzing and it seems that big ILBs, nose tackles and 5 technique DEs are of limited usefulness against the top teams in the league like Indy, NE, Philly or NO, who pass the ball so frequently.
  16. Given his health, I don't think teams are going to be lining up to sign him. I suspect he will be lucky to sign with someone.
  17. Who cares... out with the old, in with the new. I'll send Ralph a condolence card for losing some cash.
  18. What's up with that beard? At first, I thought he was going for the Dan Fouts look (#14 and all), but now he's starting to cross over into Grizzly Adams territory.
  19. Then you change the scheme. Take the best players and make adjustments to get them in position to play well. Maybe with Ngata in there the defense wouldn't have been a sieve against the run. Alas, hindsight...
  20. I hope all this confidence is still there after this weekend.
  21. Bench him. If you don't produce, you ride the pine.
