  1. Plus, don't forget the additional squats.
  2. Steelers OL is weak, especially in the pass blocking department. The minute I saw that Jonathan Scott was starting at LT for them I knew that they were in trouble. Frankly, I was disappointed that they were able to run the ball as effectively as they did. Edwards going out didn't help.
  3. This part is the best, especially since the current coaching staff already did this once.
  4. +1 He's the guy making the plays. That can't be bad. Would you rather have a guy who makes no tackles playing ILB on defense? Seems crazy since the DL are supposed to be keeping players off of the ILBs so that they can make most of the tackles. Also, ILBs don't get many tackles for losses unless they are blitzing. That's a DL statistic.
  5. Hmm... so I guess this I'm the only one who has been pondering this...
  6. So I was watching the Georgia and Georgia Tech game this past weekend when Bob Davie made an interesting point. Georgia was playing its base 3-4 defense most of the game for one of the few times this season because GT ran the option offense. With all of the spread offenses in college FB, most teams are in nickel and dime packages using 4 DL most of the time. Then I watched the Bills give Casey Hampton the day off during the Pittsburgh game by playing most of the time is multiple WR formations. So I started to wonder, with all of the passing in the NFL now, does is really make sense to invest money, roster spots and practice time on the 3-4 if the Bills are going to end up playing 4 DL most of the time anyway? The Bills don't play it like the Jets with heavy blitzing and it seems that big ILBs, nose tackles and 5 technique DEs are of limited usefulness against the top teams in the league like Indy, NE, Philly or NO, who pass the ball so frequently.
  7. Given his health, I don't think teams are going to be lining up to sign him. I suspect he will be lucky to sign with someone.
  8. Who cares... out with the old, in with the new. I'll send Ralph a condolence card for losing some cash.
  9. What's up with that beard? At first, I thought he was going for the Dan Fouts look (#14 and all), but now he's starting to cross over into Grizzly Adams territory.
  10. Then you change the scheme. Take the best players and make adjustments to get them in position to play well. Maybe with Ngata in there the defense wouldn't have been a sieve against the run. Alas, hindsight...
  11. I hope all this confidence is still there after this weekend.
  12. Bench him. If you don't produce, you ride the pine.
  13. I mentioned this in one of the other posts on the same subject: Lindell's numbers are dead average. His overall FG% as well as his percentage for 40 and 50 yd kicks is dead on the league average. He is an average kicker. Even in clutch situations, sometimes he makes 'em sometimes he doesn't. Average. No problem though, you don't need a HOF kicker to win the Super Bowl.
  14. Exactly. Protect your son. What if this wacko has a knife or something and incapacitates you in a tussle? Who's going to protect your 8 year old son then? Get him out of there and take revenge later if you can.
  15. The statistics clearly indicate that Lindell is dead average. He is not "one of the best kickers in the league" as has been stated in other posts, or even above average. Do you dispute this? If so, state your case. Should he be replaced? Yes, if and when someone better is available at a reasonable price. Until then the Bills will live with mediocrity, which is the case in many positions. I completely agree that other positions should be a higher focus.
  16. In today's NFL, kickers are a dime a dozen, including Lindell. Consider: The NFL average FG percentage in 2010: 81% Average over 50 yds: 53% Ryan Lindell Career average: 81% Lindell Average over 50 yds: 54%
  17. Exactly. Kelsay is a solid rotational DE. Maybe we should stop blaming him for not being able to play LB and start blaming Edwards for asking him to.
  18. Interesting. I was at the Pacquiao - Margarito fight Saturday in Dallas and my friends and I were amazed at how lax the security was. Just a token pat down and a question or two. Couldv'e easily smuggled in any small weapon or worse.
  19. or I don't know which. Maybe both.
  20. Maybe it's crazy but I trace some of this back to Polian. Small, fast defense geared towards stopping the pass. Sound familiar? Bills, Panthers and Colts all fit this while under his watch. Interestingly, the Colts Tampa 2 D was Dungy's creation, but his Ds in Minnesota and Tampa had a bigger more physical front 4 than he ended up with in Indy. Also, although I agree that Corey didn't get the most out of the defensive personnel he had, SB XXV was not his fault. The Bills should've won that game- just needed to make the kick. If Vinatieri misses is Belichick's a hack?
  21. I've seen this exact same trick play used before (I think, because we don't see what would've happened after the snap). I'm sure it's on U-Tube somewhere. There was no flag then. I think that the refs are just butt heads. It sounds like they told the coach not to run it before the game and he did anyway so they ejected him and the player who did it. However, I would like to know what is illegal.
  22. Yeah, you're right. He's probably actually going to be really good.
