I am honestly surprised that anyone really reads what he has to say. His columns are no different that many of the post on this board. They're 100% opinion, usually vitriolic and uninformative. Just read any the threads on this site and you'll find "editorials" like his here and there. I don't need to go looking for them.

Is Ryan Fitzpatrick a better option?
vincec replied to Another Point of View's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Gailey should stick with Edwards as long as he appears to be improving throughout the season. It shouldn't be hard to improve from last week. If he doesn't look better than last week, it should and will be Fitzpatrick in week 3, IMO. I suspect that before the season is over all three guys will have started some games... -
I think that guys like Ellison and Scott in nickel situations will do fine in coverage. That's one thing they can do. If you add Whitner covering the TE on occasion then it'll be fine. Just keep Davis off of him.
-
If Buffalo can generate some pass rush from their anemic front seven, the defense will be OK because the DBs can cover. GB is still going to put up 20 points though so it'll be on the offense to do something.
-
He is a decent backup and special teams player. I agree that he's been forced to start too often but I've seen him make a fair share of big plays for the Bills. Just as the OP said, what more do you want from a 6th round pick?

Buddy Nix Doesn't Think Much of McNabb?
vincec replied to SuperKillerRobots's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Except that they are 1-0 and beat one of the pre-season super bowl favorites. Other than that, they look very similar to the Bills. -
Buffalo Rumblings breakdown of the game
vincec replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The FB gets very few reps in today's pass happy NFL because they are not as strong in the passing game as TEs, RBs, or obviously WRs. I know that you are thinking that he would help in pass protection, which is true, but not much more than a RB or TE and most coaches don't think it's worth the drop off in the receiving threat. The Bills threw it so much against Miami that I'm actually surprised that he got as many as 13 reps. -
That's why you need at least a somewhat balanced offense to be successful in the NFL. As you have noted, the Bills don't have one.
-
No he wasn't. And he had even less of a chance to make the switch to OLB.
-
Big ben type play was the correct call there, IMO. I guess that Trent would've just checked it down though so maybe the field goal attempt made sense after all...
-
And the Bills can stop Miami on their own 1 or Miami could fumble there and maybe the Bills even recover the fumble and take it back 99 yards for a TD, etc. but those types of things only happen against the Bills. Of the likely scenarios, going for it seemed the most logical to me in the sense that if you can make one play and pick it up on 4th down then you have a realistic chance to win (need 50 or so yards, 1:30, 2 TOs, 1st and 10). All of the other scenarios are pie in the sky, IMO. Yes, you can onside kick after a safety. The Bills tried to do it according to Gailey. By "worked" do you mean that the best case scenario was to get the ball back on their own 20 with no timeouts and 30 seconds left needing to go 80 yards for a TD? That doesn't seem like much to hope for...
-
Maybe, but this kind of game day coaching was a major Jauron weakness and I had hoped that it would be improved with Gailey in charge. So far not so good.

Option A: Go for it. 4th and 10. Pick up 10 yards and keep going, down by 3 with 2 time outs and 1:30 or so remaining. If you miss it assume the game is over as the Dolphins will almost certainly score the clinching TD. Option B: Safety. Try to recover onside kick and then score a TD with the 2 TOs and about 1:30 remaining. If you don't recover the kick, the game is essentially over (see the actual game film) as even without a first down the Dolphins run the clock down to 30 seconds and probably punt it down inside your 20 leaving you no timeouts and probably 4 plays to cover 80+ yards needing a TD. So which is more likely: pick up 10 yds and then drive 50 yds or so for a FG or recover an onside kick and then drive 70 yards or so for a TD? Seems pretty clear to me. Edit: Option C: Punt. Dolphins run the clock down to 30 seconds even without a first down and then punt you inside the 20 almost certainly meaning that the game is over. Makes the least sense, IMO.

Jonathan Scott to start at LT for the Steelers
vincec replied to ganesh's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Let me just say that I thought Scott was worth retaining. He looked like a decent backup RT to me in the time he was here. Just because he can't start at LT the way he was asked to, doesn't mean that he can't play. I have little doubt that he would do better than Green... -
Would you have changed quarterbacks at half time

Only if your goal was to win. -
Anyone hear our new wunder-coach'spress conference?
vincec replied to Pine Barrens Mafia's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He sounded just like Jauron to me. My favorite: was when asked how the Dolphins front seven was being so disruptive, he responded that he'd let them know when he found out. No wonder there weren't any effective adjustments taking place... -
Paul Posluszny, from Conlan-esque to bust

+1 If his injury keeps him out for any length of time it's to start looking about other options in the off season. He can't be relied upon. -
This is mostly what I think. It's 75% Trent Edwards, but the OL was sketch at best. Green was bad. Bell fought hard but was only so-so. He may improve as he continues to heal and get experience. I wouldn't let Levitre, Hangartner and Wood off the hook either. There was no running game and the Dolphins got pretty good pressure up the middle. Unfortunately, this is probably what the OL is going to deliver most weeks so if Edwards can't play in this situation he needs to be benched.
-
Don't agree with that. That safety play at the end of the game was absolutely ridiculous. It basically played out the way they were hoping for with the Dolphins going 3 and out and the Bills still had no chance- 29 seconds and 80 yards to go with no time outs??? GO FOR IT. If you are stopped then you can still stop Miami and use your timeouts to get the ball back in the exact same position that they did after the safety- 30 seconds left and needing a TD. Didn't make any sense. Also, he needs to be blamed for not pulling Edwards going into the 4th Q. What does it take to pull him? TE wasn't going to lead the team to victory and everyone in the stadium knew it by that point. Why not make a change?

Who's the Best coach? - sportsnew mag

ESPN just reported that the Bills uniforms are the second ugliest in the NFL and that RW Stadium is the third worst. CBS reports that the Bills are THE ugliest team in the NFL. -
To all of you who think Parcells is God....

Do you mean "flak"? I don't think you'll get too much "slack". -
Anyone follow Bills players tweets?

+1 Like teams with fewer good backs and better OLs. Plus running back is one position where knowing the offense doesn't means as much. I suspect that we've seen the last of Bell as a Bill. -
My Annual, week before the opener, thread

GREAT stuff. I miss Russert on Sundays, and I don't even think it has anything to do with him being from Buffalo. -
They will spin it in such a way as to make themselves look smart. NOBODY admits mistakes any more in this day and age. It's better to stop hoping for people to start and start ignoring what some people say.
