  1. Miami's defense didn't look too good against the Jets last night. Maybe it's Miami's D that's overrated because they've played two weak offenses (yes, Minnesota's offense is weak right now). Let's see how he does against the Jets, who do have a good defense. And keep in mind, he's not playing behind NEs offensive line and throwing to Moss, Welker and their two TEs...
  2. This is what I saw also. Everyone seems to be prejudging Fitzpatrick, but to me he has the potential to be solid. He IS accurate, reads defenses well, makes quick decisions and is mobile. He needs work just like everyone else, especially on his footwork. He isn't set on many of his throws and it leads to errors. Also, as Gailey said, he needs to learn when to take risks and when not to. But he has enough ability to be effective in this league. He doesn't have as much experience as people are pretending and he isn't exactly surrounded by an all star cast.
  3. The Bills played most of the game today in their 4-2-5 nickel. Troup is not in that package.
  4. Fitz played about as well as could be hoped given the talent he has around him. If he traded places with Brady, I wonder what the outcome would've been?
  5. I don't really understand the Bills defensive strategy. They played almost the whole game in that 4-2-5 nickel, with Ellison and Scott as LBs. So practically a dime defense. Surprise, surprise, NE runs it down their throat. But here's what I don't get: they can't stop the pass either AND they don't appear to make any adjustments the entire game. When you are in a defense that can't stop the run or the pass, you would think you'd change your basic approach.
  6. It was a pretty weak penalty call by the official.
  7. Kelsay is the best OLB they have so they sign him to an extension. Maybe they plan on cutting the other OLBs (that are even worse) instead of Kelsay...
  8. I doubt that the Jets DST are available in most fantasy leagues...
  9. +1 Most of the threads and posts this week have been even crazier than usual. Relax, it's a game.
  10. Fletcher- definitely, Spikes- probably, Bledsoe- no.
  11. Fitzpatrick does a better job reading defenses and is mobile so he may be able to escape some of the pressure or at least force the D linemen to be a little fore disciplined in their pass rush lanes. That being said, he's not Peyton Manning or Michael Vick. He has negligible passing game talent to work with. He will look bad just like Edwards, but maybe his QB rating will be between 50 and 70 instead of 30 and 40...
  12. Stop. That hurts.
  13. Shhh... Haven't you been reading the expert post on this board? The Redskins area a joke. Their Owner is a wasteful spending buffoon. You can't win in the NFL by spending money. We don't want their coach. He's an overrated prima donna. McNabb can't play anymore. Buddy said so. He's too old. His completion percentage is too low.
  14. They have no TE, WRs can't get open...
  15. I am honestly surprised that anyone really reads what he has to say. His columns are no different that many of the post on this board. They're 100% opinion, usually vitriolic and uninformative. Just read any the threads on this site and you'll find "editorials" like his here and there. I don't need to go looking for them.
  16. Gailey should stick with Edwards as long as he appears to be improving throughout the season. It shouldn't be hard to improve from last week. If he doesn't look better than last week, it should and will be Fitzpatrick in week 3, IMO. I suspect that before the season is over all three guys will have started some games...
  17. I think that guys like Ellison and Scott in nickel situations will do fine in coverage. That's one thing they can do. If you add Whitner covering the TE on occasion then it'll be fine. Just keep Davis off of him.
  18. If Buffalo can generate some pass rush from their anemic front seven, the defense will be OK because the DBs can cover. GB is still going to put up 20 points though so it'll be on the offense to do something.
  19. He is a decent backup and special teams player. I agree that he's been forced to start too often but I've seen him make a fair share of big plays for the Bills. Just as the OP said, what more do you want from a 6th round pick?
  20. Except that they are 1-0 and beat one of the pre-season super bowl favorites. Other than that, they look very similar to the Bills.
  21. The FB gets very few reps in today's pass happy NFL because they are not as strong in the passing game as TEs, RBs, or obviously WRs. I know that you are thinking that he would help in pass protection, which is true, but not much more than a RB or TE and most coaches don't think it's worth the drop off in the receiving threat. The Bills threw it so much against Miami that I'm actually surprised that he got as many as 13 reps.
  22. That's why you need at least a somewhat balanced offense to be successful in the NFL. As you have noted, the Bills don't have one.
  23. No he wasn't. And he had even less of a chance to make the switch to OLB.
  24. Big ben type play was the correct call there, IMO. I guess that Trent would've just checked it down though so maybe the field goal attempt made sense after all...
