  1. Apparently, but it's false. For example here are RGIII statistics for his first 5 games during his rookie season: http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/gamelog/_/id/14875/year/2012/robert-griffin-iii These stats would put him at the top of the list, so it looks like some cherry picking is going on to try and defend Manuel and fake out the public.
  2. Exactly. You brought in on yourself!
  3. I think this is all besides the point of my post. Manuel has not played well according to the QBR measurement. He is 26th out of 32 in the league. Now he may improve and he may not but you can't say that he has been good so far. Pointing out other QBs that have stunk "for perspective" like Tuel, Lewis, Smith, RGIII or whomever doesn't change the evaluation of Manuel. He has stunk too. If you are trying to say that all rookies stink so it's ok for Manuel to stink too, then that's another argument although I'm not sure I agree with that one either. Some rookies stink and some do not (RGIII, Newton, Wilson, Luck). Again, he may recover but it's no guarantee.
  4. You realize that Manuel's QBR is among the worst in the NFL for starting quarterbacks? There are only 4 or 5 guys below him out of 32 teams. I'm not sure how quoting these numbers is proof that EJ was not awful. It sounds like your argument goes like this: Manuel is better than Lewis or Tuel, therefore Manuel is not awful. Unfortunately, I don't need to think back to my logics class to see some flaws in this proof.
  5. This HAS to be a troll.
  6. Exactly. The Bills are currently living in a Mad Max, Escape from New York style post apocalyptic landscape and have been for several years now.
  7. The problem with Gilmore, IMO, is that he HAS to play the receivers very physically to be effective and he walks a very fine line between getting a penalty and not getting having sound coverage. I'm not sure there's any other way for him as he doesn't have the athleticism of someone like McKelvin. He just has to get it right. Also, his tackling has not been good which is strange for a physical cornerback. Maybe the injury is partly to blame for this. I agree about Byrd. He has improved as he has become more familiar with the defense and has played well the last two weeks. He's a bid step up from Jim Leonhard, IMO. It will be a shame to lose him after this season.
  8. I think that Tuel's effectiveness in the short passing game was a major factor in the offense's ability to move the ball last week. You talk about the running game, and it was effective, but the Bills threw it more than they ran. I don't think that the game plan for Manuel will be the same, nor should it be.
  9. So 2 tackles in 5 plays and he is comparable to a pro-bowl player? I can see it. 2 tackles every 5 plays = 20 to 25 tackles per game, x 16 games = 360 tackles per season (This smashes Chris Spielman's record of 195) x 10 year career = 3,600 tackles in career, which makes him a first ballot hall of famer. Charles is a first ballot hall of famer.
  10. The guy doesn't even know the teams record, how reliable can his analysis of them be?
  11. The Steelers are a proud organization that expects to win and is going to be going all out in this game. The Bills are going to have a hard time going into Pittsburgh and winning this game. They had a better chance against KC, IMO. It would really be a good win if they can do it- much better than Pittsburgh's record would indicate.
  12. If he gets fired, I hope that the Bills pick him up. He'd be the best coach that the Bills have had since Marv Levy retired.
  13. The Bills have fixed their short yardage game under Marrone. They are now 8th in the NFL in 3rd and short. They stunk under Gailey, when Brad Smith was playing for them. http://www.buffalonews.com/sports/bills-nfl/bills-notebook-team-shines-on-third-and-short-20131106
  14. It's the first thing I thought of when it happened.
  15. I was surprised to see that myself, although Gilmore and Chandler were pretty bad.
  16. So this incident isn't about Martin being clinically depressed after all? There goes the first 7 pages of this thread. Talk about jumping to conclusions.
  17. That's why the opponents are blitzing. Very hard to run play action, which are slower developing plays, vs the blitz. See the New Orleans game for examples. I say run it right at them. If the Bills are going to develop a dominant run mentality then they have to believe that they can run it on anybody, regardless of front or personnel. Mix in some quick slants, screens and the occasional max protection deep throws and that's your best chance, IMO.
  18. I really don't understand the Tuel situation at all. If, when your QB gets hurt, you start trolling the market for a new starter instead of turning to the backup on your roster then you don't have the right backup. First we pickup Lewis as the new starter. Now it's 50-50 between Tuel and Flynn. Really? As for expectations, who knows but it's clear that NO ONE believes in him including his own coach. That probably doesn't bode well.
  19. I'll bet the Bills could get him for a bargain price right now, with the hope that he turns things around for next season. Just a thought.
  20. He throws a nice deep ball.
  21. I saw the seeking treatment part and I don't want to sound cynical, but these days anyone who commits a public faux-pas and has a publicist seeks treatment as a means to rehabilitate his reputation. People who cheat on their wives get sex addiction therapy. People who flip out and fly off the handle get anger management therapy. People who get drunk and do something stupid or get a DWI get substance abuse therapy. So to me, just hearing that he is getting treatment doesn't necessarily mean that he has mental health issues. If how he was treated on Hard Knocks is typical of how he has been treated in general then I can see snapping and telling your teammates off without some type of disorder.
  22. I see that this has become a discussion on mental illness. Maybe I missed something but was there any mention of mental illness in the report? Maybe he's just "as mad as hell" at some of his teammates and "not going to take it anymore." Being an athlete you could easily see how his reaction might be a little juvenile.
  23. I don't know, maybe it's just bad luck, or the annual punching bag- the linebackers. But I'm still waiting to see the secondary play well as a unit. I do think it's curious timing to publish two articles praising CBs the week when they give up the most passing yards, most passing TDs and most points this season.
  24. Is he averaging 5 TD passes per game as well?
  25. I'm never a fan of cutting guys before they get beat out by somebody else. Nelson was decent, not great, but no one beat him out. He was just cut hoping that someone would play better.
