  1. Vince Wilfork. He is (was?) a monster.
  2. Has he punted any better than Powell? Honest question. Is his net average any better? Higher percentage of punts inside the 20?
  3. Can't disagree. QB sneak should always be an option in short yardage. Especially when you have a big QB and a good center.
  4. It's only fair because Buddy Nix got the benefit of the same effect when he became GM. Good players were a sign of Buddy's influence in the front office, bad players were the work of Jauron. For a long time I called Buddy the teflon GM.
  5. It's sad how the Bills never seem to have a good offense and a good defense at the same time. Ever since the Super Bowl years, it's just a see-saw.
  6. If you don't think you're going to be a starter again would you give back a large portion of the only contract for starter money you will every have? Can't blame him at all honestly. The Bills should've kept him anyway until his contract was up, IMO. They paid him regardless so why not keep him?
  7. The odds makers are dispassionate and usually fairly accurate so maybe it's a pick 'em game, but I see a Jets team that has the slight edge in every single position except running back and has the more proven coaching staff as well. Honestly I felt more confident in beating the Chiefs than in winning this game.
  8. Lol. Well that would be some crack work there. Kind of like developing an analysis that demonstrated conclusively that water is wet.
  9. As you say yourself, you can't compare Manuel with Luck or Kaepernick because they have accomplished much more and their bad games at this point can be written off as anomalies. Not so with Manuel. You also say that young QBs have their ups and downs which I agree with, but I want to see a few more "ups" from Manuel to make me confident in his future. He really hasn't played a game yet that makes you say "wow, this guy can really be good". Maybe the last drive vs Carolina was the closest, but it was really just the one drive in that game.
  10. Apparently, but it's false. For example here are RGIII statistics for his first 5 games during his rookie season: http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/gamelog/_/id/14875/year/2012/robert-griffin-iii These stats would put him at the top of the list, so it looks like some cherry picking is going on to try and defend Manuel and fake out the public.
  11. Exactly. You brought in on yourself!
  12. I think this is all besides the point of my post. Manuel has not played well according to the QBR measurement. He is 26th out of 32 in the league. Now he may improve and he may not but you can't say that he has been good so far. Pointing out other QBs that have stunk "for perspective" like Tuel, Lewis, Smith, RGIII or whomever doesn't change the evaluation of Manuel. He has stunk too. If you are trying to say that all rookies stink so it's ok for Manuel to stink too, then that's another argument although I'm not sure I agree with that one either. Some rookies stink and some do not (RGIII, Newton, Wilson, Luck). Again, he may recover but it's no guarantee.
  13. You realize that Manuel's QBR is among the worst in the NFL for starting quarterbacks? There are only 4 or 5 guys below him out of 32 teams. I'm not sure how quoting these numbers is proof that EJ was not awful. It sounds like your argument goes like this: Manuel is better than Lewis or Tuel, therefore Manuel is not awful. Unfortunately, I don't need to think back to my logics class to see some flaws in this proof.
  14. This HAS to be a troll.
  15. Exactly. The Bills are currently living in a Mad Max, Escape from New York style post apocalyptic landscape and have been for several years now.
  16. The problem with Gilmore, IMO, is that he HAS to play the receivers very physically to be effective and he walks a very fine line between getting a penalty and not getting having sound coverage. I'm not sure there's any other way for him as he doesn't have the athleticism of someone like McKelvin. He just has to get it right. Also, his tackling has not been good which is strange for a physical cornerback. Maybe the injury is partly to blame for this. I agree about Byrd. He has improved as he has become more familiar with the defense and has played well the last two weeks. He's a bid step up from Jim Leonhard, IMO. It will be a shame to lose him after this season.
  17. I think that Tuel's effectiveness in the short passing game was a major factor in the offense's ability to move the ball last week. You talk about the running game, and it was effective, but the Bills threw it more than they ran. I don't think that the game plan for Manuel will be the same, nor should it be.
  18. So 2 tackles in 5 plays and he is comparable to a pro-bowl player? I can see it. 2 tackles every 5 plays = 20 to 25 tackles per game, x 16 games = 360 tackles per season (This smashes Chris Spielman's record of 195) x 10 year career = 3,600 tackles in career, which makes him a first ballot hall of famer. Charles is a first ballot hall of famer.
  19. The guy doesn't even know the teams record, how reliable can his analysis of them be?
  20. The Steelers are a proud organization that expects to win and is going to be going all out in this game. The Bills are going to have a hard time going into Pittsburgh and winning this game. They had a better chance against KC, IMO. It would really be a good win if they can do it- much better than Pittsburgh's record would indicate.
  21. If he gets fired, I hope that the Bills pick him up. He'd be the best coach that the Bills have had since Marv Levy retired.
  22. The Bills have fixed their short yardage game under Marrone. They are now 8th in the NFL in 3rd and short. They stunk under Gailey, when Brad Smith was playing for them. http://www.buffalonews.com/sports/bills-nfl/bills-notebook-team-shines-on-third-and-short-20131106
  23. It's the first thing I thought of when it happened.
  24. I was surprised to see that myself, although Gilmore and Chandler were pretty bad.
  25. So this incident isn't about Martin being clinically depressed after all? There goes the first 7 pages of this thread. Talk about jumping to conclusions.
