  1. Honestly, they should've IR'd him two or three weeks ago when it became clear that Carpenter was pretty good. They could've used the roster spot for a DB or OG.
  2. Really? Didn't he lose his job to Powell just last year? Now he's the upgrade over Powell? And 38 years old to boot. Hard to believe that this was the best option but the proof will be in the punting.
  3. As long as Branch is out there, the Bills effectively have 3 DTs and a DE who is strong enough to play DT. Good luck running against that. Look for more wide runs and first down passes from Bills opponents to try and take advantage of Branch's perceived lack of mobility and pass rush.
  4. Just IR Hopkins and get it over with. He can battle Carpenter next training camp for his job back. Powell hasn't punted well since pre-season when his competition was cut. He is very inconsistent and rarely seems to hit a good punt when you need one. Don't know if anyone better is out there but he doesn't look like a long term answer right now.
  5. How can you possibly follow a 176 page game day thread? The updates are being written faster than you can read them, unless you're not watching the game.
  6. Football stadiums are honestly a waste of money. There just aren't enough events that warrant a venue that big to justify it. 8 football games per year. Basketball games, concerts, hockey all typically use smaller venues. How often could you really book the thing? I think you'd be doing well to get 15-20 events per year, out of 365. Compare to a basketball/hockey sized stadium where you might have well over 100 events. And a new domed football stadium costs much more, so I say that it's not really worth it.
  7. That's nothing, Mr. Miagi could fix it in 30 seconds.
  8. Can't argue with that. But they seemed to make it harder than it needed to be.
  9. I actually liked Chan but I think you're letting him off easy here. His defenses stunk because he didn't give a rats a$$ about defense. He had 2 of the worst defenses in team history yet the head coach still didn't feel the need to attend the defensive team meetings or give any input. He just let them crash and burn. Can you imagine Lombardi doing that? He might make a decent OC, but he's not head coaching material.
  10. Are they still saving a roster spot for Hopkins?
  11. Jackson plays like a man who's never had anything handed to him and needs to work twice as hard as the next guy for half the respect.
  12. Chandler was a clear no catch. I thought Woods had a TD. Yes, the ball moved but he never lost control. The ball can move if the receiver maintains control. That's ok, the refs paid us back when they upheld Alonso's pick at the end, which was questionable.
  13. +1. Bad game management. If they ran two plays they could've just kneeled down on third down and run it out.
  14. Yes, hard work guarantees nothing, but without hard work he doesn't have a chance.
  15. I'll actually respond instead of making a smartass comment:
  16. Was he really ever that good at press man coverage? Just a question. He spent most of his career in cover 2 type defenses right? Now at his age it's probably even more of a stretch. Besides the fact that he undoubtedly doesn't want to come play for a team that is perpetually rebuilding.
  17. What I don't understand and what makes this suspicious to me is that Byrd reported to the team with this injury, which is basically an injury caused by overuse and over activity. How could this have developed in the off season? And if an entire off season didn't cure it how could a few weeks of "rest" cure it now?
  18. I coached 7-10 year olds for several seasons. It's the most fun that you can imagine. Everyone having fun, basically no serious injuries of any kind and just enough strategy to keep it interesting for the coaches. The part of the story where he tried to draw up plays on a white board made me laugh. I remember one instance, when we were struggling to pick up an opposing teams blitz, I asked one of our offensive linemen to draw on a white board where the opposing players were lining up. He drew 16 players on defense. I told him that now I saw why we were having trouble.
  19. Then you will never have an elite guard. As long as everyone is good with that maybe they can find another Kraig Urbik or an old washed up tackle for LG and move on.
  20. It makes no sense to move Glenn to guard. He is a high pick and if he pans out into a great guard he will demand a high salary and the Bills will probably let him walk via free agency because they don't pay guards big money. Better to leave him at tackle and give him every chance to make it there. Bills need to find a decent, not all pro, LG that they can pay a reasonable salary- see Kraig Urbik.
  21. I think you're probably spot on in terms of needs, except that I would really be looking for the best available player among OLBs and CBs in round 1. Also, no OG or S before the 4th round since the Bills don't appear to value those positions as much.
  22. I like Dareus, but I think that the Bills are playing him out of position. He is a natural penetrating type DT, similar to Kyle Williams and should not be playing 0 technique and facing double teams most of the time. Remember the Bills drafted Dareus to be a DE/DT hybrid and how he's essentially being asked to play NT. I don't think it's a coincidence that the best season he had was when Williams was injured and he took over his position. If the Bills are ever going to be strong against the run then they need a true space eater in the middle.
  23. Yes. That's why I said the NFL. This was college, and 30+ years ago. I remember watching the play live. I couldn't believe it then and it seems even crazier now. Most bizarre ending to a game I've ever seen.
  24. Percentages are always much higher if you can reach the end zone with the throw. I have seen "Hail Mary" type plays work many times in the past but have never seen a broken field lateral type play work in the NFL. Maybe there was one but I can't remember it.
