Vic Fangio wants to see NFL drop divisions format
st pete gogolak replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This would have been a terrific idea 20 years ago, but we're on the cusp of dominating the AFC East for the next several years (yeah, I went there) so it would be very Billsy if divisions were done away with now. -
If Foster Starts Rolling This Team Is Beyond Dangerous

Agree 100%. He's a blur when he gets into a high gear. -

RIP for Harvey, but I think he stands alone - 2 - 23 - 1. -

Didn't he refer to the team's "work ethnic" or am I thinking of someone else? -
Would you want the Bills to sign Tom Brady?
st pete gogolak replied to BillsFan8083's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No. He's 42 and starting to look every bit of that. He's mediocre at this point in a system that is designed for him. Picks, dinks, dunks. When he's pressured, he throws the ball into the ground. Can you imagine what he'd look like in the Bills' offensive scheme? Remember Peyton Manning? He looked pretty good until he didn't. Win, lose or don't make the Super Bowl, I'd be surprised if Brady is back with NE next year and surprised if he doesn't retire. -
49ers not playing for a tie on MNF
st pete gogolak replied to Jobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bills needed the win to make the playoffs. Tie gives 49'ers two game edge in loss column. Totally different circumstances. If Bills were in same position as 49ers and McDermott was as aggressive as Shanahan, posters would have rightly given McDermott grief. In that situation, you drain the clock to give yourself some chance of a win while giving your opponent next to no chance for the win. -

NFL simply doesn't believe in analytics. A tie keeps you up two games on your nearest rival. Analytics would have dictated at least one or two runs at that point in OT. You still have a chance to pull out a win but you ensure that Seattle doesn't have enough time left to do the same. -
100% problem with the Deep Ball this year.
st pete gogolak replied to Allen2Moulds's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, this. It's a meaningless stat unless you compare to league averages. I'm guessing there are QB's who haven't thrown a pass that's travelled 30 yards in the air over the last two years. Maybe it also means that we shouldn't be trying to throw passes that travel 30 yards in the air. Also, does this include Hail Marys? What is the league average on completing Hail Marys? -
Rational Thoughts after the Browns
st pete gogolak replied to corta765's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well, the Bills' season is on the line next week in Miami. We'll see how that goes. -
Gilmore was an excellent corner while he was here but in his free agency year, I have never, ever seen an NFL player avoid contact like Gilmore avoided contact. It was a joke. After that, I didn't care whether he came back or not. Still don't.

Would you trade a 1 for Zeke?

Can the regular season start? Please? Please? -
Same reaction as everyone else. Pretty excited to see first game. Set to watch on DirecTV 212-1. Blacked out. Found Reddit stream. Worked very well. Lost picture for about 10 minutes but other than that, worked just fine.

Now that the book is closed on Gronk, can we finally get a call on whether we did the right thing picking Troup ahead of Gronk?
-
A mock I saw today had Bills trading down with Miami (to #13) so Miami could pick a QB. Would you trade down with a division rival? If you thought that the division rival was going to reach and pick a QB who isn't worth the #9 spot, I guess the answer is yes. FYI, they had us picking Rashan Gary followed by the Falcons picking Oliver. If we pick up a second, I could live with #13.

Not that it would have changed the team's destiny (not in a QB dominated league and we didn't have one then or for years after) but I always have wondered what would have happened to the team's fortunes if we had picked Ngata instead of Whitner. The horrendousness of the Whitner pick manifested itself immediately because - in need of a big defensive tackle (hence why everyone but everyone assumed the first pick would be Ngata) - we moved back into the first round to pick (wait for it) John McCargo!! Can you imagine if we had picked Ngata and then have been smart enough to move back into the first round to pick Nick Mangold? Would have had rock solid foundations in the middle of the O-Line and the D-Line for the next decade. Twas not to be, cheri.

Tannehill traded to Titans

I don't post in SabreSpace, so I have to take this opportunity to say, "Ladies and gentlemen, may I present to you the WORST general manager in the history of Buffalo professional sports (including the Braves and the guy who decided to draft John Hummer instead of Calvin Murphy)!! -
WR Cole Beasley (Dallas) to the Bills
st pete gogolak replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well, this (and Brown) clarifies things for the draft. No Metcalf. No Isabella later on. If we sign Williams, no OL at #9. Can get Oliver (now that we're going on 20 years, do you realize that Brady doesn't like pressure up the middle?), Hockerson or White.
